Six ministers review arrangements for TDP's maiden Mahanadu in Kadapa
With the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) deciding to hold its annual conclave 'Mahanadu' in Kadapa from May 27 to 29, the party's functionaries in various levels have swung into action to make it a success.
The party has held its Mahanadu at various places over the past forty years of its existence, and this time around, the Kadapa district unit has been tasked with organising the conclave. Notably, the party won a majority of seats in the undivided Kadapa during the general elections held last year, thus gaining strength in the district, which was a bastion of the YSR family for four decades.
Six Cabinet ministers, V. Anitha (Home), Payyavula Keshav (Finance), B.C. Janardhan Reddy (Roads and Buildings), A. Satya Prasad (Revenue), S. Savitha (Handloom and Textiles) and Nimmala Rama Naidu (Water Resources), along with TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao, politburo member R. Srinivasa Reddy, Member of Parliament (Chittoor) Daggumalla Prasada Rao and former ministers N. Amarnatha Reddy and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao participated in a meeting held to review the arrangements on Sunday (May 18).
Just like the annual procedure, party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, on the first day, will file his nomination for the post of the national president of the party, set to be unanimously approved the second day.
The party will discuss challenges and issues pertaining to the development of the State and the party's role to overcome them. Several resolutions would be passed on the third day after deliberations.
Mr. Srinivasa Reddy, who is also the president of the party's district unit, explained to the media the arrangements made at the venue in Pabbapuram in Chintakommadinne mandal of the district.
'Several committees have been formed and the responsibilities have been entrusted to leaders at various levels. It is now time for action for the party functionaries to ensure arrangements for the lakhs of party workers who will attend the annual conclave', he said.

Congress favouring Andhra Pradesh govt, says Harish
1 2 Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao alleged that chief minister A Revanth Reddy and minister Uttam Kumar Reddy had failed to protect Telangana's water interests while favouring the Andhra Pradesh govt. He criticised irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy for allegedly misleading the public on key irrigation projects and cooperating with the TDP govt in Andhra Pradesh, thereby compromising the interests of Telangana. "Why did the Telangana cabinet not discuss the Godavari-Banakacherla link scheme on Thursday? Was there any issue more important than that? Though the AP govt was going ahead with the project without any approvals, the Telangana govt, on the other hand, is making no effort to halt it," Harish Rao said while addressing the media at Dubbak on Friday. Harish Rao vowed that BRS would take the fight to New Delhi and even approach the Supreme Court to protect the water rights if the state govt continued to neglect the issue. "Even in temporary allocations of Krishna waters, Telangana utilised 65 TMC less water than its share, leaving 6.5 lakh acres parched in Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and other districts. Why did the state govt remain silent while Andhra Pradesh allegedly diverted 400 TMC of Godavari water illegally," the former minister questioned. He also criticised the BJP leaders from Telangana for not raising their voices against the AP's 'water theft' and reiterated that the BRS would approach the Supreme Court if the state govt failed to act. Harish Rao alsodismissed chief minister A Revanth Reddy's claim that Kaleshwaram was collapsing, arguing that key projects such as Gandhamalla, Mallannasagar, and Ranganayak Sagar depend on it. He challenged the chief minister to explain how water would reach Gandhamalla if Kaleshwaram were truly defunct. A businessman and YSRCP activist from Pedda Nemalipuri of Rajupalem mandal in Palnadu district tried to end his life allegedly owing to harassment by police and TDP leaders. The man, Gutha Lakshminarayana, is currently in the ICU at a hospital in Piduguralla. Former Gurazala MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy condemned the authorities' actions, alleging that Lakshminarayana, a YSRCP supporter from the Kamma community, was summoned to the Sattenapalli DSP office, where he was subjected to severe mistreatment and verbal abuse by the police. Mr. Mahesh demanded an immediate end to the 'Red Book' governance and urged adherence to the Constitution, warning that failure to do so could lead to unrest in Andhra Pradesh.
