Massimiliano Allegri has returned to Milan to replace Sergio Conceicao as head coach.
Former Porto head coach Conceicao was sacked after just five months in charge on Thursday following a disappointing eighth place finish in Serie A that saw the club miss out on European qualification for 2025-26.
Allegri has been out of work since being sacked by Juventus in May 2024.

In response to the club's disappointing season, Milan fans staged a remarkable protest against the club's American ownership ahead of their final Serie A match of the season against Monza earlier this month.
Around 5,000 ultras gathered outside the club's Casa Milan headquarters before marching to San Siro. They lined up in the stands to spell out 'Go Home' in the Curva Sud, with chants demanding RedBird Capital's Gerry Cardinale sell his stake in the club and leave.
Allegri's arrival follows the appointment of former Serie A striker Igli Tare as the club's new sporting director, a role the Albanian previously held at Lazio.
Allegri has spent his entire managerial career, which spans over two decades, in his native Italy. His first senior job was with Aglianese and then moved to Sassuolo, before getting his first opportunity at coaching a Serie A team with Cagliari in 2008.
The 57-year-old then spent previously three-and-a-half seasons with Milan between 2010 and January 2014. Allegri won the Serie A title in his first season at San Siro in 2010-11, the club's first Scudetto in seven years, and the Supercoppa Italiana the following season, but finished 2012-13 trophyless, and he left the club in January the following season.
He was then appointed Juventus head coach in the summer of 2014, replacing Antonio Conte, and winning the Italian top-flight in each of his five seasons in charge between 2014-15 and 2018-19, while also reaching the Champions League final in 2015 and 2017.
Juventus also won four Coppa Italia crowns and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies during this spell.
Allegri's second spell in Turin did not bring the same level of success, with his three seasons in charge yielding just the Coppa Italia in his final campaign.
Conceicao had a bright start to life in Milan, guiding his side to a 3-2 victory over rivals Inter in the Supercoppa in January however, the following month, they were eliminated from the Champions League at the play-off stage by Feyenoord.
Milan parted ways with Scudetto-winning head coach Stefano Piolo in the summer of 2024 and then sacked his successor Paulo Fonseca in December of that year, with Conceicao his replacement.

Olympic high jump gold medalists Kerr and Tamberi debate the rules for ties
ROME (AP) — At the last two Olympics, the men's high jump produced a tie — requiring a big decision. In Tokyo four years ago, Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Barshim agreed to share the gold. In Paris last year, Hamish Kerr and Shelby McEwen agreed to a jump-off that Kerr finally won after an interminable series of misses. Nearly a year later, Kerr is suggesting that sharing should be eliminated from the rule book. 'In the future, does that need to be an option?' Kerr, who is from New Zealand, told The Associated Press on Thursday as he prepared to compete at Rome's Diamond League meeting. 'It's probably not something that I would ever take,' Kerr said of accepting a tie. 'I think it's great that we have people jumping off for medals.' Tamberi, unsurprisingly, does not agree. The Italian noted how Kerr and McEwen combined for 11 straight misses — so many that there wasn't enough room on the scoreboard for all the Xs — in regulation and the jump-off. And that the bar was lowered twice during the jump-off before Kerr finally broke the streak of failures when he got over 2.34 meters (7 feet, 8 inches) to win. 'It becomes an endurance competition and isn't about who can jump the highest anymore,' Tamberi said when asked about Kerr's comments. 'I think people appreciated the moment of sportsmanship that we created in Tokyo. 'Or maybe they should try to find a different way to determine the winner in terms of who jumps the highest,' Tamberi added. 'But jump-offs are really strange, because it's about who has more energy and who can last longer. It's like turning the 100 meters into the 10,000.' The shared gold between Tamberi and Barshim strengthened an existing friendship and Kerr said he feels an enduring bond with his American opponent McEwen, too. 'Obviously we could have shared and we could have sort of walked away from it without having such an awesome experience and a really kind of engaging moment for the crowd and for everyone back home,' Kerr said. 'But we both decided to jump and that was really special. We've got a special bond now.' Tamberi is back Kerr and McEwen have continued their rivalry this season with the American winning two of their three meetings. But Tamberi is making his season debut in Rome and looking to spice things up, while McEwen is not entered for the Golden Gala. Both the 28-year-old Kerr and the 33-year-old Tamberi plan to continue competing through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. First up, though, is this season's world championships in Tokyo in September. Calendar change World Athletics has made a calendar change so that starting this year the track season ends with the worlds. That means that the Diamond League finals in Zurich will be held at the end of August. 'It's a good move, because athletes need to prepare for the worlds and there won't be a post-worlds or post-Olympics where athletes often compete only to salute their fans or for economic reasons,' said Tamberi, whose wife is expecting the couple's first child in August. ___ AP sports:

New Al-Hilal Coach Simone Inzaghi: ‘Our Paths Have Separated, But I'll Always Have Great Love For Inter Milan'
New Al-Hilal Coach Simone Inzaghi: 'Our Paths Have Separated, But I'll Always Have Great Love For Inter Milan' Al-Hilal coach Simone Inzaghi says that 'even though our paths have separated, I'll always have a great love for Inter Milan.' The new Al-Hilal coach spoke to the Saudi club's social media channel, via FCInterNews. Advertisement Now it's official. After four years in charge of Inter Milan, Simone Inzaghi has left to join Al-Hilal. The 49-year-old had first arrived at Inter in the summer of 2021. He came in from Lazio to replace Antonio Conte at the helm of the Nerazzurri after the latter's tempestuous exit. There were certainly ups and downs during Inzaghi's tenure in charge of Inter. However, on the whole, it was a successful four-year spell. Inzaghi won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia twice, and the Supercoppa Italiana on three occasions with Inter. He also guided the Nerazzurri to two Champions League finals. Therefore, there had been a feeling that if Inzaghi were to stay for the long haul, he could build a long-term cycle in the club's history. Advertisement However, that is not the decision the former Lazio coach has made. He has instead opted for a major change in scenery. Inter Milan Slap €40M Price Tag On Napoli Priority Target
Inter Milan has set the asking price for Napoli target Davide Frattesi at €40 million. This according to today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that Napoli have balked at this fee, however. Advertisement There is no doubt that this is a decisive juncture for Davide Frattesi at Inter Milan. Reportedly, the 25-year-old had a blowup with Simone Inzaghi during the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. He was furious that the Inter coach didn't use him as a substitute. And this has brought to a head Frattesi's persistent frustrations about his playing time at Inter. The Italian international may not have left the Nerazzurri in January. However, he could certainly be on his way this summer.
