Rains lash Delhi-NCR; IMD predicts more showers in the next two hours, airlines issue advisory
'Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning (30-50 Km/h gusty winds) is very likely to occur at many places of Delhi and NCR , Karnal, Rajaund, Assandh, Safidon, Jind, Panipat, Gohana, Gannaur, Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad, Hodal (Haryana) Nandgaon, Iglas, Barsana, Raya, Mathura (UP) Bhiwari, Tizara (Rajasthan) during next 2 hours', IMD forecasted.
Delhi residents woke up to clear skies on Wednesday morning, light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, had been predicted by the India Metrological Department (IMD) in the national capital today, 16 July.
Delhi on Wednesday recorded a minimum temperature of 24.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's normal, the weather office said.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted thunderstorms with rain. The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 89 per cent.
The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 34 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
The air quality was recorded in the satisfactory category as the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am stood at 60.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.
Air India posted on X (formnerly Twitter), 'Gusty wind and rain are impacting flight operations in Delhi.'

As per CPCB standards, AQI between 0–50 is considered 'good', 51–100 'satisfactory', and 101–200 'moderate'. The rain helped reduce dust and pollutants in the air, offering temporary relief to residents. IMD issues orange alert in Maharashtra In Maharashtra, Mumbai and surrounding regions continued to face heavy downpours as the monsoon intensified. The IMD issued an orange alert for Wednesday in six districts: Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Palghar. Severe waterlogging was reported in multiple low-lying areas of Mumbai, prompting the Mumbai Traffic Police to close the Andheri Subway as a precautionary measure.

Hyderabad Braces for More Rain as Weather Alerts Issued in North Telangana
The northern part of Telangana is again under the sway of a massive monsoon storm as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) placed some districts under orange and Hyderabad rain alert. A torrential downpour swept across the region from Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, causing flooding in areas with low levels and triggering warnings to residents to stay in their homes and be cautious. Red alert Hyderabad rain which is the highest degree of Musuru rains Hyderabad alert, was issued to districts that include Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Komaram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial. The areas have seen continuous, intense rain and with Venkatapuram in Mulugu having recorded more than 203 millimeters to date. Districts in the vicinity like Warangal, Hanamkonda, Karimnagar, Jagitial, and Bhadradri Kothagudem remain on an orange alert, and Telangana rainfall warning is expected to increase through the night, and continue through Wednesday morning. Telangana weather update: Wet Days Ahead Although the city was spared the most severe of the showers on Tuesday, Hyderabad is not out of the woods just yet. IMD forecasts for Hyderabad show heavy rains in North Telangana, with intense periods of rain in the majority of the city for the coming two hours then a steady drizzle from 2 am and into the early hours of the morning. Based on the forecast for 7 days, Hyderabad will remain cloudy throughout the week with temperatures ranging from 30-32 degrees Celsius. While Wednesday is a "Heavy rainfall" orange alert Telangana, following days are likely to see only light rain and overcast skies that will provide some relief. Emergency services and IMD alert Hyderabad relief teams as well as they are waiting for the GHMC to ramp up dewatering and pumping efforts in areas of high risk of flooding. Citizens are advised to stay clear of unnecessary travel, particularly between 2 until 7 AM, and to move from homes in low-lying areas if levels start to rise.
