Iford Manor 'devastated' by mystery bronze statue theft
A statue of She-Wolf with Romulus and Remus, including the plinth, two Roman deer and a bust of Antinous were stolen from the property, police said.The She-wolf bronze had stood on the grounds for more than 120 years."My overwhelming sense is frustration and sadness, I'm angry on behalf of heritage and the place," he said."They're iconic pieces, they make the space what it is - they were an important element of what we're about. "It's a garden of cultural significance with a focus on tranquillity and being a safe space for people - it now feels violated."
Mr Cartwright-Hignett said it is a "mystery" how the heavy statues were removed overnight."We were right in the middle of our Jazz festival - It's not a two man lift.
"We wrapped up and closed everything up, went to bed and woke up to a disaster."The Jazz festival was unbelievable last night and it will be today - the show must go on."In the meantime, we hope that some right thinking people have a conscience and will restore them to their rightful owners," he added.Officers have asked for any witnesses who may have information on activity on th e grounds between 22:45 BST on Thursday and 8:00 BST am on Friday.They have also urged for any antique dealers or auction houses to look out for the items.

Tipner boat crash: Body found in search for missing man
A body has been found during the search for a man who went missing following a boat crash in which another man died and one was taken to boat, a rigid-hulled inflatable - an inflatable boat with a hard bottom - crashed near Tipner on the edge of Portsmouth Harbour on Thursday at about 19:20 and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the body of a man had been recovered on Tuesday morning and although formal identification had not yet taken place the family of the missing man had been the crash, a man aged in his 60s from Emsworth was pronounced dead in hospital and a man in his 50s, from West Sussex, was treated in hospital. The force said officers and the man's family would like to thank everyone who shared their appeal, contacted them with information or helped with the investigating officer, Det Supt Abbie Leeson, said: "We are aware the community has been both saddened and shocked by this incident and we want to reassure you that our inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing."The force added the boat was not stolen, it belonged to one of the occupants, did not sink and has since been police said previously officers were liaising with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch during the early stages of an investigation to establish what had happened. Man charged with arson after Clacton fire
A man has been charged with arson after three shops and several homes were damaged by fire. Emergency services were called to West Avenue, in Clacton, Essex, on Monday at 00:35 BST to reports of a 40 firefighters were sent to the scene, and 70 residents were evacuated from their homes and taken to a refuge centre set up in a nearby hotel, before later moving to a leisure centre. There were no reports of any injuries. Christian Capes, 42, of Beach Road, Clacton, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life. Murder arrest after man found dead inside home in Mansfield Woodhouse
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was found dead inside a home in Mansfield Police officers were called to Newhaven Avenue at about 18:20 BST on Sunday after paramedics discovered the body of a man in his 50s.A murder investigation was launched and the force said it believed the victim was injured following a disturbance in the street the night have also arrested a 19-year-old woman and 76-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender, and the three suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
