Rahmah Madani Sales: Effective approach to ease living cost of living of the people
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the initiative continues to receive strong public support, especially with its expansion to all regions across the country, including suburban and rural areas.
He said that apart from providing immediate relief, the programme also offers a valuable platform for the ministry to engage directly with the community to obtain feedback, including suggestions for improvements and additional stock-keeping units that people would like to see.
"The community has acknowledged that this programme truly reaches the grassroots and fulfils their daily needs," he said.
"As we know, the allocation for the Rahmah Sales Programme has also been increased. So we hope that the 2026 Budget will further expand the programme's reach so that more people can benefit from it," he said.
He said this when visiting the Madani Rahmah Sales and Kenduri Rakyat programmes in Kampung Pachitan, held in conjunction with the Madani Ukhwah Programme and the Madani government Members of Parliament Retreat here.
In addition to Kampung Pachitan, Armizan said the programme was also implemented at the Petanque Field, Batu 1, Port Dickson, offering 42 and 50 stock keeping units (SKUs) at discounted prices, respectively.
He noted that efforts to gather public feedback were further strengthened by the involvement of Madani government MPs in the two-day retreat by engaging directly with residents to better understand the realities of their daily lives.
"This initiative goes beyond simply selling affordable goods…it reflects how policy is shaped around the real needs of the people. That's why the active participation of MPs is crucial in representing the voices of their communities," he said.
Armizan also highlighted that the Madani Rahmah Sales programme includes the involvement of the retail sector as a strategic partner, such as supermarkets and grocery stores, to ensure its benefits are expanded and felt more widely across the population.

Ops Gasak 2025 records 168 LPG subsidy misuse cases
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 168 cases involving the misuse of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) were recorded under Ops Gasak 2025 with seized items valued at RM5.2mil, says the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister. Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the seizures were made between May 1 and July 27 this year and involved subsidised LPG and related goods as part of the government's ongoing crackdown on subsidy abuse in the LPG distribution chain. He added that LPG is classified as a Scheduled Controlled Item under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 (Act 122), and its supply has been under the ministry's oversight since October 15, 2021. "The listing of LPG as a scheduled item was aimed at ensuring a stable supply in the market," he said in a written parliamentary reply to Khoo Poay Tiong (Pakatan–Kota Melaka), who had asked about the outcomes of Ops Gasak and the number of enforcement cases recorded. Launched on May 1, Ops Gasak 2025 is specifically designed to curb the illegal transfer—or decanting—of subsidised LPG into industrial or commercial cylinders, which is among the most serious forms of subsidy misuse. Armizan explained that enforcement and inspection efforts have been stepped up across industries dealing in LPG to ensure compliance with existing laws. In response to eligibility for permits to use over 42kg of LPG, Armizan said all businesses using scheduled controlled items may apply for a permit via the BLESS 2.0 system. "Applications will be assessed based on the Control of Supplies Regulations (Amendment) 2021, alongside other conditions, guidelines, and applicable legal frameworks," he said. He also noted that following a Cabinet decision on June 5, 2025, the ministry is now engaging stakeholders on proposed amendments to the Supply Control Regulations to further strengthen enforcement mechanisms and regulatory clarity.

Developer after PM's rebuke: We followed the book, 8 schools already nearby
KUALA LUMPUR: The developer of the government's affordable housing project in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, says the development had obtained the necessary approvals and complied with all regulatory requirements — including access to public amenities such as schools. Danau Lumayan Sdn Bhd said eight schools had been identified within the surrounding area, with at least one located within walking distance of the project site. "Construction for the 3,438-unit development began earlier this year following approval that was granted well before the introduction of the current Madani policy framework," said its managing director Shahril Reza Shaheen. "The project had commenced on the ground earlier this year." This comes in response to remarks by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier today during the project's groundbreaking ceremony, where he questioned the absence of provisions for school facilities within the development itself. Anwar had suggested that if there were no schools nearby, the developer should take one of the housing blocks and convert it into a vertical school. The housing project, Residensi Wilayah Aman Lumayan, Shahril added, had adhered to all existing planning guidelines and requirements at the time of approval, taking into account the proximity of schools and pre-schools. "This is a project jointly developed with DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall). All compliance matters — from education facilities to clinics — were reviewed and met based on what was required. "If you're talking about the necessity of having more schools, more classrooms too, there's always a requirement for us to either expand or build a new school. "In terms of all the guidelines that have been set by DBKL and other authorities, we have compiled and, like, the other things like a pre-school— we have already complied. "And the requirement for a clinic (if there's a clinic nearby), there is actually a clinic just 50m across from the development. "But whether or not we need another clinic inside the (housing) area, that is what we need to review. "We can sit down and explore (with DBKL and authorities), but we have already gone through all the checklists, and we comply with whatever requirements for us to build this development. "There's no issue of an oversight here, not at all," he said. The developer has since met with DBKL officials to discuss the concerns raised by the prime minister and is currently conducting a feasibility study to explore whether a school can be incorporated either within or adjacent to the site. The company is expected to present its proposals to the prime minister by Monday, outlining several potential options to make improvements and meet the community's future needs. "We take the prime minister's concerns seriously and are studying the possibility of building a school as part of the development's next phase," Shahril added.
