CM Siddaramaiah unveils quantum roadmap, skilling to start in 20 Karnataka colleges

BENGALURU: 'We want to empower our youth with next-gen skills and make Karnataka the talent engine for quantum innovation,' Chief Minister
Siddaramaiah
said on Wednesday. He kickstarted the Quantum India Bengaluru 2025 summit with a strong focus on building human capital.
Announcing that quantum skilling programmes will begin in over 20 colleges and 150 PhD fellowships will be supported annually, the CM said talent development would be the foundation of Karnataka's roadmap to become a global quantum hub.
Speaking at the summit organised by the Department of Science and Technology, in partnership with the
Indian Institute of Science
(IISc) and supported by the National Quantum Mission, Siddaramaiah outlined a five-point blueprint aimed at future development in the quantum field.

Talking about the use of quantum to an average citizen, the CM added: 'It enables early disease detection, secure communication, smarter farming, safer national security, and more efficient governance.'
Boseraju NS, minor irrigation, science and technology, said: 'We've already set up India's first quantum research park at IISc and supported 55 R&D projects and 13 startups. To continue this momentum, the Karnataka govt has sanctioned an additional Rs 48 crore and will build a world-class Quantum City in Bengaluru, aiming to create two lakh high-skilled jobs and capture 21% of the global quantum tech market by 2035.

The Indian Institutes of Management commenced the registrations for the Common Admission Test (CAT 2025) today, August 1. Eligible candidates can register for the exam at till September 13, 2025. Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said that Bengaluru would soon become the 'Quantum Capital' as the government is setting up a dedicated cluster for quantum technology. a Speaking at the opening ceremony of the inaugural edition of Quantum India Bengaluru 2025, he said, 'I am delighted to be here at the event which is heralding the frontier of technology. Karnataka has rich human resource. Our state is not competing with other states of the country, but we are competing at a global level.' 'We have laid a strong foundation for Bengaluru to become a global leader in technology. Our government is committed to provide all the support for it to become a leader in quantum technology too. When I was the Minister in S M Krishna government, we brought the IT policy and it led Bengaluru's growth that we are witnessing today,' he recalled. 'Tier two and tier three cities of Karnataka too offer excellent talent and infrastructure. Tech industry must look at those cities too for setting their offices. Our state has over 300 colleges. Our tech education legacy goes back a century when IISc was set up. Jawaharlal Nehru's public sector industrialisation also helped Bengaluru grow in a big way,' he added. 'Quantum technology is a frontier technology, let's move towards it boldy. Hope the quantum technology will also contribute to greater good of the society. Our government will provide all possible support for the quantum technology revolution. Let's create another revolution in Bengaluru and Karnataka,' he concluded.
