NBA slaps Draymond Green with $50,000 fine for yelling betting spread at referees

The NBA on Wednesday fined Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green $50,000 "for making an inappropriate comment that questions the integrity of game officials," president of league operations Byron Spruell said in a news release. The incident happened late in the fourth quarter of Minnesota's 102-97 victory in Game 3 at Chase Center in San Francisco on Saturday. Advertisement During a timeout with 15.2 seconds remaining and Minnesota ahead 102-94 and Green no longer in the game, he yelled the spread – 5½. It's common for the NBA to fine players for questioning the integrity of referees. Last season, the NBA fined Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert $100,000 for making the money gesture with his fingers. Green also has five technical fouls in the playoffs, two away from drawing a one-game suspension. Minnesota leads the series 3-1 with Game 5 Wednesday in Minneapolis (9:30 p.m. ET, TNT), and the Warriors will again be without All-Star guard Steph Curry (strained left hamstring). Former Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney could land at Florida

Former Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney could land at Florida Former star Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney may soon have a new home. Per Baseball America's Jacob Rudner, Florida is in the mix for the former Fighting Irish backstop, who hit .348 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs as a sophomore with the Fighting Irish. He is one of the more intriguing players currently in the transfer portal. This past season, the Gators used Luke Heyman and Brody Donay behind the plate. An injury to Heyman near the end of the year forced Donay to become the full-time catcher the rest of the way, but his defense was an issue. Could the Gators shift him to first base or designated hitter? UF did bring in JUCO catcher AJ Malzone, but landing Tinney would be a real coup. It helps the cause that the Gators landed former ND pitcher Ricky Reeth, whose pitches were caught by Tinney in South Bend this past season. Losing Tinney was a tough blow for the Irish. He was the team's best player and a centerpiece of Shawn Stiffler's rebuild in South Bend.
