Devotee from Hyderabad donates Rs 1.1 crore to TTD
They met TTD additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary at the Ranganayakula Mandapam and handed over their donation in the form of demand drafts. The donor split his donation into two parts — Rs 1 crore to Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam trust and Rs 10 lakh to Sri Venkateswara Go-Samrakshana trust. Meanwhile, Bengaluru-based devotee Chandrasekhar donated two six-seater battery operated vehicles worth Rs 11 lakh to the TTD.

A founder shared that she went into early labour but still checked her work emails. (LinkedIn/Alli K) 'I was 37 weeks pregnant and disturbingly uncomfortable. Checked into the hospital for high blood pressure… It happened so quickly... They were giving me meds to induce labour. And I was… Clacking away at emails!!!!' New York City-based Alli K wrote on LinkedIn. She continued that she had a lot of work to do as there were still three weeks until her maternity leave. So, she sent out a message that read, 'Hi everyone, baby's coming sooner than expected. I will be online for a bit and keep you posted!' That is when she got a response from a Gen Z colleague that she 'brushed off' at the time, but the remark later made her take a hard look at herself. The new-age employee told her, 'Are you doing work while you're in labour? Stop it.' 'Boundaries aren't a weakness. They're wisdom and survival,' she wrote, adding what she later learnt from the Gen Z workforce. How did social media react? A woman who works as a vice president in a company shared, 'I can relate. I answered emails soon after my C-section in the recovery room.' Another remarked, 'I can't tell you how many Slack messages I've sent that say something like 'Getting on a plane for my vacation ', BUT DON'T WORRY, I'LL STILL RESPOND. OOO is OOO. I wish I could have learned this lesson earlier in my career!' A third posted, 'Wow, what a story. Great lesson though, some things are more important than work.' A fourth wrote, 'My son arrived 3 weeks earlier, emergency delivery at 3.00 AM. Showed up at the hospital with my purse and the computer. Twelve hours after the delivery, I sent 60+ emails to finish all pending items. Crazy! And didn't get any appreciation for working after a major surgery.'

Wipro and Warburg amplify talks for Harman India arm
Mumbai: Global private equity firm Warburg Pincus and Wipro Technologies are in advanced negotiations to acquire the digital transformation solutions (DTS) business of US-headquartered audio and connected technologies firm Harman in India, said people privy to the discussions. The deal is expected to value the business at about $500 million (Rs 4,375 crore), they told ET on condition of anonymity. Deutsche Bank is advising Harman, a wholly owned subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics, on the proposed transaction. A Warburg Pincus spokesperson declined to comment, while queries emailed to Harman and Wipro Technologies did not elicit a response till press time. Harman—known for audio brands JBL, Harman Kardon and Infinity—designs and engineers connected products and solutions for automakers and consumers worldwide. Offerings include connected car systems, audio-visual products and enterprise automation solutions. The company began operations in India in 2008 and currently employs more than 9,000 people across eight cities. It has been working with Bengaluru-based Wipro Technologies through a strategic engineering collaboration since the year it entered the country, including the Harman India Development Centre at Wipro's facilities in Bengaluru and Chennai. Samsung Electronics acquired Harman International Industries in 2017 for about $8 billion. While the automotive segment remains Harman's primary revenue driver, the company's DTS unit in India has a strong presence across healthcare, communications and industrial applications. It supports life sciences and medtech companies in accelerating clinical trials, modernising platforms and ensuring regulatory compliance, and helps industrial and consumer businesses with real-time factory insights, connected ecosystems and enterprise systems. Wipro Technologies has been on an acquisition spree over the past few years. In 2024, it took over Aggne Global, a US-based insurance tech firm, to strengthen its presence in the insurance sector. It also bought out US-based IT consulting firm Applied Value Technologies to enhance its enterprise application development and support services. Besides, it purchased a 27% stake in SDVerse, an automotive software marketplace, last year. In 2022, Wipro Technologies acquired Rizing Intermediate Holdings, Inc. for $540 million to bolster its SAP consulting capabilities. Its largest acquisition was Capco, a global management and technology consultancy, for $1.45 billion in 2021. Warburg Pincus has been an active investor in digital solutions and outsourcing. It previously owned Encora, a digital engineering services provider for outsourced software product development, which it sold to Advent International in 2021. In India, the New York-headquartered private equity firm backs Perfios, a business-to-business software-as-a-service provider for the banking, financial services and insurance sector, operating in 18 countries.

First cable-stayed bridge to be built near Ramkund on Godavari in Nashik
Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will construct a 'cable-stayed' bridge near Ramkund on Godavari river in Nashik city to facilitate the movement of devotees during the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. This will be the first bridge of its kind in Nashik, intended for pedestrian use only. A cable-stayed bridge is a type of structure where the deck is supported by cables directly connected to one or more towers. Confirming the development, NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri told TOI, "We have already started preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed cable-stayed bridge near Ramkund. Its cost will be known only after the DPR is complete." The Kumbh Mela Authority has allocated Rs 60 crore to the civic administration for the construction of new bridges on Godavari river in the first phase. More funds are expected to be allocated for the construction of new bridges in the second phase. Another new bridge is to be constructed near Tapovan STP on Godavari river," an official said. The proposed cable-stayed bridge will be in addition to these five new bridges, which aim to alleviate traffic congestion on both sides of the riverbanks during the religious gathering. NMC has set a deadline of March 2027 to complete the construction of the new bridges on Godavari river and its tributaries. The flag hoisting for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela will be held in Oct 2026. Major three Amrit Snans (holy baths) will take place between Aug and Sept 2027.
