My Dubai Rent: Content creator considers buying home he has rented for past four years
Four years after first renting a villa in Dubai as a temporary base, Jordanian content creator and gamer Bibi Zumot is considering buying the property in Damac Hills 2.
Mr Zumot, who has 35,000 followers on social media, has transformed the two-bedroom villa into a gaming-themed haven to serve as both his home and a creative space for content production.
The 29-year-old pays Dh180,000 ($49,000) a year to live to live there. He invited The National into his home to show us why it's so special to him.
Why did you choose to live here?
I had spent most of my life in Al Ain with my parents. After graduating from college and securing a job in Dubai, I decided to move. First I was sharing an apartment with a friend, and four years ago I started looking for a quiet place.
I looked at several villas but this was the best. I've been here ever since, and I'm thinking seriously about buying it. I do content on social media platforms and streaming to followers when I play games from the villa. It's a quiet area that helps me to focus on my content creation, plus it's accessible for deliveries. You couldn't wish for any better.
What do you get for your money?
It is a spacious two-bedroom villa, with a kitchen and big living room where you can have friends over.
The location is perfect as I can easily drive for 20 minutes to reach my work in Dubai Media City. The community is nice and there are friendly neighbours.
The compound is secure with gates and very good maintenance. It is a good choice for families and professionals looking for affordable homes with a modern touch.
Is there much around where you live?
There's a variety of restaurants and a supermarket. It is close to the Al Qudra desert and Global Village too. There is a lot of greenery and parks for a walk, as well as a gym.
How have you made the apartment feel like home?
Being a gamer and content creator, I used a gaming theme. One of the rooms is just for streaming and making videos.
I used a pop culture theme inside the villa with decoration, pictures and paintings. I'm a bachelor and don't cook, so I rarely use the kitchen.
Is there anything you would change about where you live?
Nothing major, but the only problem is it's a bit far from the city. It has well-connected highways but there was no delivery services when I first moved here. Things have changed since the community grew.

Also having a business and having created it by myself, I calculate everything and make projections and budget. How do you think this relationship was formed? When I was in school, aged 7-8, my parents used to pay me for every highest mark I used to get at school and I used to keep the money in a book, so I was really motivated to get better marks and more money. I was also one of the best in class. What good or bad lessons about money management did you learn from your mother? My mom sometimes tends to overspend and sometimes not spend much on unnecessary things so I try to also evaluate if it's worth to spend or not but sometimes is difficult. Who do you speak to about money matters and is it something you consider 'taboo'? I don't consider it a taboo. I can speak to my parents, my husband, and my kids . It cannot be a taboo since it is part of our daily life. Who has taught you the most about financial management? I learned a lot from my parents and from my husband. What do you think has been the most profound experience you've had so far in relation to money, good or bad, and what has it taught you since? When I used to travel as a model in different countries, they gave you a weekly allowance and you had to manage it. This taught me to spend only on what I really needed to. How do you think living in the UAE has changed your relationship with and perception of money? I can say that to live well you need money. The equation of money and income (in the UAE) is different compared to European countries. You get a better salary but then you also have to spend more on rent and monthly expenses. But of course, you get a different, better lifestyle and most of all, the UAE is the safest country to live in. If you could give your child or your younger self one piece of advice about money now what would that be and why? Spend only on what you really need because money comes to those who respect it. What do you value spending money on? It depends on what I need at that moment. I do like to pamper myself so there are also some spendings that we can't avoid as ladies. Do you long-term plan your finances, and if so, how? I like investing in real estate. What is your long-term goal or dream which is pegged to your finances? I wish to have a lot of properties in different parts of the world How much do you save each month? Since I'm a business owner, the income might vary, so savings are different. But I try to have a savings account and a different current account. How much do you plan to have by the time you are 65? I can't give a number because depreciation of money is real, so what might seem a lot now might be much less in the future. I try to think 100 times before investing so it's tough to say.

Azizi completes 70% work on Riviera Beachfront I project
UAE-based Azizi Developments has announced that 70 per cent of the work has been completed on its premium Beachfront I project in Riviera, its French Mediterranean-inspired waterfront community in MBR City, Dubai. Giving a project update, Azizi said the project's structure is fully ready, with blockwork and internal plastering standing at 98 per cent completion. Tiling works have reached 50 per cent, while HVAC and MEP installations stand at 83 per cent and 68 per cent, respectively. Façade works are at 29 per cent, external works are at 15 per cent, and overall finishes have progressed to 49%, it stated. Supported by a workforce of 3,200, construction remains firmly on track for completion in Q4 2025, it added. Group CEO Farhad Azizi said: "Beachfront in Riviera is rapidly taking shape, showcasing our dedication to delivering communities that perfectly blend sophistication with functionality." "As we move closer to completion, our focus remains on surpassing the expectations of our valued investors and end-users, while further enriching Dubai's skyline with developments that will stand the test of time," he added. On completion, the Riviera Beachfront will boast three 20-storey developments offering 555 units across studios, one- and two-bedroom homes, and retail spaces.
