A NEWLYWED couple who stabbed the groom's stepmum while wearing creepy animal masks have been jailed.
Wasif Hussain, 21 and his wife Nabela Tabassum, 19, donned the giraffe masks from Poundland to launch into the "frenzied" attack.

Hussain repeatedly stabbed Arifa Nazmin and bludgeoned her with a hammer as his wife restrained her new mother-in-law.
He also strangled and punched her during the horror in Birmingham, which was caught on camera.
The couple have now been found jailed after they were found guilty of attempted murder following a trial.
Hussain was caged for 15 years while his wife received a nine-year jail term.
In her victim impact statement, Arifa said: 'I still panic when the door is knocked, I can feel the fear in my body.
'I'm terrified they have returned to finish me off. I will live with this for the rest of my life.'
Birmingham Crown Court heard they had been living at the home after they got married in December 2023.
But they soon hatched the evil plot to kill Arifa after they were accused of not doing any chores and treating the house like a hotel.
The stepmum also claimed Tabassum could not wash up properly.
The court was told the pair snapped when they were asked to leave the home and began assembling a chilling kill kit.
This included a can of Zoflora disinfect, gloves and a lighter all bought from a One Stop in a bid to cover their tracks.
The monster couple planned to burn Arifa's body in the garden after killing her.
They also bought the Poundland giraffe masks on January 29 - the day they launched the savage attack.
As Tabassum held Arifa down, Hussain plunged a knife in and battered his stepmum over the head with a hammer.
The bride told her husband "kill her, kill her" as Hussain branded Arifa a "gold digger".
He also chillingly told her: "You will die for everything you have done."
A camera inside the home captured the victim's terrified screams as she desperately fought back.
Brave Arifa managed to survive the horror by convincing them to go upstairs before she called for help.
Both Tabassum and Hussain fled but were discovered in a Travelodge in Bolton the following day and arrested.

He was also found in possession of a small amount of cannabis he said was for his own personal use. Ismail Hussain, 20, was seen by plain-clothed police officers in Newport on July 14 in an area that was known for drug dealing. The defendant was stopped in Hampden Road and searched. A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday heard Hussain was asked if he had anything on him and he replied: "Yeah, crack" and pointed to his pockets. During the search police seized a tub of snap bags containing white powder, one snap bag containing cannabis, £105 in cash, a black iPhone, and a Nokia burner phone. When asked to provide his phone pins Hussain refused and he was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. A search was carried out at the defendant's home where £33 was seized. The seized white powder was examined and was found to be 15.89g of cocaine which had been split up into street deals. The value of the cocaine was estimated to be between £670 and £840. Police were able to gain access to the Nokia phone and six messages were discovered indicative with drug supply and the advertisement of drugs. Hussain, of Collingwood Road, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs. The court heard he has a previous conviction for possession with intent to supply heroin after he and his father were found in possession of £7,000 worth of heroin. The defendant was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, which he is now in breach of. In mitigation Emma Harris said her client had been a user of cannabis since he was 17 years old but had progressed to harder drugs. As a result of his drug use the defendant fell into debt, found himself in difficulty, and turned to drug dealing in order to pay off his debt. Judge Richard Kember sentenced Hussain to 22 months imprisonment and added a consecutive term of one year imprisonment for the breach of the suspended sentence. Article continues below

Extradited US woman Aimee Betro guilty of attempted assassination in Birmingham
A 45-year-old American woman has been found guilty of taking part in a botched assassination attempt on a shop owner in a street in Birmingham. Aimee Betro has been convicted at Birmingham Crown Court of conspiracy to murder in relation to a failed assassination plot in the city in September 2019. The 45-year-old, originally from Wisconsin, was accused of being involved in a conspiracy which saw a man threatened with a firearm in the South Yardley area of Birmingham. Jurors deliberated for almost 21 hours before convicting Betro of conspiracy to murder, possessing a self-loading pistol with intent to cause fear of violence, and a charge of illegally importing ammunition. Betro, wearing a purple T-shirt and with her hair in space buns, showed no obvious reaction and stared towards the jury bench as the verdicts were returned. She was found guilty by majority 11-1 verdicts on the conspiracy to murder and firearm charges, and by a unanimous verdict on the ammunition charge. Prosecutors alleged Betro, who was living in Armenia until earlier this year, flew to Britain in August 2019 to take part in a plot orchestrated by co-conspirators Mohammed Aslam, 56, and his son Mohammed Nabil Nazir, 31, to attack a family they had been feuding with. The graduate hid her face using a niqab when she got out of a Mercedes and tried to shoot Sikander Ali at point-blank range outside his home in Measham Grove in South Yardley. Birmingham Crown Court was told the attempted shooting took place shortly after 8pm on September 7, 2019, but the handgun jammed, allowing Mr Ali to flee in his car. Betro is also alleged to have returned to Measham Grove in a taxi around five hours later, and to have fired three rounds at the windows of the intended victim's property. 'All just a terrible coincidence', Aimee Betro tells jury The prosecution said 'revenge was the motive' after Nazir and Aslam, from Elms Avenue in Derby, were injured during disorder at Mr Ali's father Aslat Mahumad's clothing boutique in Birmingham, in July 2018, which led them to conspire to have someone kill him or a member of his family. Betro had suggested to jurors earlier that the perpetrator was 'another American woman' who sounded similar to her, used the same phone and wore the same sort of trainers. She told jurors it was 'all just a terrible coincidence' that she was around the corner from the scene of the attempted assassination six minutes later. Betro also said that a woman described as having an American accent and being "small and fat", and who bought a vehicle linked to the plot, was not her. She claimed she had 'no reason or motive' to carry out the shooting, and that did not know the intended victim's family. She also told the jury she flew to Britain to celebrate her birthday and attend a boat party, having met Nazir on a dating app. She had previously travelled to the UK to meet him. Betro, who was arrested last summer in Armenia, was also charged with possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and a charge related to the alleged importation of ammunition into the UK. She was flown into Gatwick Airport in January by specialist National Extradition Unit officers from the National Crime Agency's (NCA) Joint International Crime Centre (JICC). Betro will be sentenced on Thursday 21 August. Defence barrister Paul Lewis KC said he was not asking for pre-sentence reports as they would not assist the court. Judge Simon Drew KC told the court: "I suspect Miss Betro would like to know the outcome of this case and there is nothing worse than sitting waiting." Betro also showed no emotion as she was remanded in custody and led away to the cells.
