Hill wins Joburg Open after 62 forces play-off

Selected others: -9 Clements (Eng), Syme (Sco), Bairstow (Eng); -8 Tarren (Eng), Brown (Eng); -7 Penge (Eng)
Scotland's Calum Hill shot a magnificent eight-under par final round of 62 and prevailed after a three-man play-off to win the Joburg Open.
The 30-year-old started the day eight shots back on overnight leader Shaun Norris, who faded badly but sneaked in a birdie putt at the last to set up a three-way shootout with Hill and Jacques Kruyswijk.
All three recorded par on the first play-off hole but, after Norris found the water on the second and Hill tapped in for par, Kruyswijk raced a five-foot putt past to gift the Fifer victory.
It is Hill's second DP World Tour win, following the Cazoo Classic in August 2021, and it shoots the world number 286 into 11th place in the Race to Dubai rankings.
"It's awesome. I think that might be my first play-off ever," he told Sky Sports.
"It was a little bit by surprise at the end - I thought we'd have to do again - but I'm delighted. It was a fantastic day and winning was the cherry on top."

Watch: Nicolai Hojgaard holes out for eagle twice in three holes on DP World Tour
Nicolai Hojgaard missed out on the 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs but three spots, finishing 73rd to come up short of the postseason. That freed up his schedule to play in this week's Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour. And so far, he's having a heck of a week in Copenhagen. His scorecard shows that he shot 3-under 68, but the highlight reel shows a much more exciting round. He was 2 over but got back to even par after holing out for eagle with his shot on the par-4 12th hole. Two holes later, he holed out again for eagle, his ball bouncing just once before finding the bottom of the cup. The best thing about his second eagle was the announcer, who was in the midst of telling viewers about Hojgaard's first eagle when the second one dropped. Hojgaard's 68 has him in a tie for 14th and three shots back of his twin brother Rasmus, who is tied for second. The duo is certainly enjoying competing in their home country. They're also both European Ryder Cup hopefuls, although Rasmus at No. 8 in the rankings is quite a bit better position than Nicolai, who slipped down two spots to No. 26 in the latest update. This week's DP World Tour stop is the second-to-last before the top six automatic qualifiers are finalized.

Denny Hamlin Calls Out Austin Hill For Massive 16-Car NASCAR Wreck
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Denny Hamlin has called out Austin Hill for causing the 16-car pileup during the Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International last weekend. Hill had recently served a race suspension for taking out Aric Almirola during the Xfinity race at Indianapolis. At Watkins Glen, Hill was battling Michael McDowell for second place. As they came side by side at high speed on the long straight, Hill made contact with McDowell in an attempt to prevent himself from crashing into the barrier ahead, where the track narrows. The bottleneck forced Hill to swerve aggressively, hitting McDowell in the process, which then led his No. 11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet to crash into the barrier and cause a big pileup involving 16 cars. Hamlin gave an unbiased assessment, stating that Hill should have lifted off the gas instead of taking out McDowell. Speaking on the Actions Detrimental podcast, he said: "I mean I think he covered it well. He could have lifted. He probably should have lifted. But he didn't. He's just not going to get the benefit of the doubt from the general public, but I am like, 'OK, let me just think about this in an unbiased (way)' — and I feel like I'm unbiased on Austin Hill. "But even here he was there, he was outside. But here's what he didn't take into account, is that that is a part of the racetrack where the spotters have no idea where you're at. Michael McDowell, driver of the #11 Different Night Same Rodeo Chevrolet, (L) and Austin Hill, driver of the #21 Bennett Transportation Chevrolet, talk backstage during pre-race ceremonies prior to the NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200... Michael McDowell, driver of the #11 Different Night Same Rodeo Chevrolet, (L) and Austin Hill, driver of the #21 Bennett Transportation Chevrolet, talk backstage during pre-race ceremonies prior to the NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International on August 09, 2025 in Watkins Glen, New York. More"So thinking that Michael McDowell is going to know that you're there at that portion of the track, there's no chance. No chance of that. He's supposed to go to the right quicker. So they both swung out, but Austin got the run on the outside. There's a wall here. What the 11 should have done is hedged more towards getting, got to get back on the track sooner than later." The best view I've found of the Michael McDowell wreck! Austin Hill is a terrorist! — The Joe (@TheJoe746) August 10, 2025 The incident led to a pause of over 45 minutes as the barrier had to be fixed for the race to resume. Hill was still in his car when he spoke to The CW about the incident. He said: "Mainly, I would get to people's right sides, and that time, I ended up getting to his left side. I thought that it could work. We obviously don't have a ton of spotters around here. I don't know if he has a spotter off of that carousel corner. "He might not. But as soon as I saw he was staying tight to the grass, I probably should have lifted. That was definitely just on me. Just driver error. I'm going for it here. The #88 is driving away from us and I felt like I needed to make a move as fast as possible on the #11. Destroyed a lot of race cars, so it's just really unfortunate."

What is the truth behind why the Boston Celtics waived two way forward Miles Norris?
What is the truth behind why the Boston Celtics elected to waive two way forward Miles Norris? The Celtics signed Norris to a two way spot toward the end of their 2024-25 regular season campaign, and Norris looked poised to stick with a team that was going to need cheap depth able to shoot the rock from deep and defend a bit. Then, in the 2025 NBA Draft, Boston took a trio of young prospects as the front office sought to shift gears in the wake of star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum's Achilles injury. One, Hugo Gonzalez, will play for the team on a regular deal, and the other two prospects taken by Boston (Amari Williams and Max Shulga) were reportedly headed for two way deals. Then, the Celtics dealt vet forward Georges Niang into the Utah Jazz' cap space, getting two way wing RJ Luis Jr. back in return, ultimately leading to Norris' ouster as a Boston two way player. The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Hold My Banner" show to talk over what might be the story behind why Norris got cut. Check it out below!
