Briton dies in Malaysia after missing appeal
The death of a British man in Malaysia has been confirmed by the Foreign Office after a mother appealed over her missing son.
Backpacker Jordan Johnson-Doyle, 25, from Southport, was last seen in Kuala Lumpur on the evening of 27 May, his mother Leanne Burnett said.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it was assisting the family of a British man who died in Malaysia and was in contact with local authorities.
In a social media appeal for assistance in the search for her son, Ms Burnett said Mr Johnson-Doyle's family had been working with Malaysian police to try and find him.
Police in Kuala Lumpur reportedly found a body at a construction site in Bangsar on Wednesday, according to Malaysian media.
Ms Burnett previously told the BBC she had flown out to Malaysia earlier this week to try and help in the search.
Merseyside Police said it had received a report on 30 May that Mr Johnson-Doyle had gone missing in Malaysia.
"Our international liaison officers are working with the relevant authorities in Malaysia together with the UK Missing Persons Unit and enquiries are in the process of being carried out," a spokesperson said.
The force said officers were supporting Mr Johnson-Doyle's family.

Southport killer Axel Rudakubana is currently receiving the legal minimum while serving 52 years at HMP Belmarsh, the ECHO has learned. The teenage killer horrifically killed three children in Southport on July 29 last year when he walked into a Taylor Swift-themed workshop shortly before midday. The then-17-year-old stabbed 11 children, killing three girls and injuring the rest, as well as attacking two adults in the rampage. Rudakabana was in his prison cell at the time of the attack, and allegedly used boiling water from a kettle in the room, as reported by Sky News. He then allegedly threw the boiling water over the officer through a hatch in his cell door. The prison officer was taken to hospital as a precaution but only suffered minor injuries. Since then, Rudakubana has been given the legal minimum entitlements a prisoner can have, which restricts the amount of time he spends outside his cell and what he has access to. It is understood the legal minimum means he can still purchase items from the canteen using money either earnt at the prison or sent to him by family members but spends limited time outside of his cell and is brought items to where he is staying. National chair of the Prison Officers Association, Mark Fairhurst, told the ECHO: "It is normal for every prisoner to have access to prison canteen items that they may purchase from private cash or prison earnings. "Restricting this would probably lead to a legal challenge under the human rights act so the service would not be able to remove these privileges from prisoners." A Met Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "The Met is investigating after a prison officer was subject to a serious assault at HMP Belmarsh on the afternoon of Thursday, 8 May. "The prison officer was taken to hospital where he was assessed before being discharged later the same day. "The investigation is being led by officers from the Prison Investigation Team on the Met's South East Command Unit."

Navy sailor vanishes without a trace as mother reveals concerning break in daily habit
Virginia authorities are searching for missing sailor Angelina Petra Resendiz, who was last seen on May 29 at her barracks in Norfolk. The last known sighting of Angelina Petra Resendiz, 21, was around 10 p.m. in Miller Hall at Naval Station Norfolk, according to Virginia State Police. Police are describing Resendiz's disappearance as critical, saying her health is at risk. Fox News Digital reached out to police. Resendiz's mother, Esmeralda Castle, who lives in Resendiz's former home state of Texas, described her daughter as "loving" and "kind" in an interview with WVEC. She worked as a culinary specialist for the Navy, Castle said. Castle added that Resendiz has not responded to calls or texts from her family, which is out of character. "Her and my sister have a 400-day streak on Snapchat. Every single day she talks to somebody. She talks to family, or she will talk to a friend," Castle told WVEC. The 21-year-old does not drive or have a vehicle, and she was reported missing after she failed to show up for work, according to WVEC. "She just stopped existing Thursday. She's spent no money, made no calls." "She disappeared," Castle told the outlet. "It's very hard to tell people that she's missing." Resendiz is described as a Hispanic female standing 5 ft. 5 in. and weighing 110 lbs. She has brown eyes and black hair.
