Maya Jama fuels rumours she's QUITTING Love Island as she abruptly leaves spin-off show

Daily Mail14-07-2025
Maya Jama has fueled rumours she will QUIT Love Island after being replaced on its international spin-off show.
The presenter and DJ, 30, hosted the very first series of Love Island Games in 2023 - a brand new sister show to the regular version.
It saw nine former stars from the UK edition fly out to Fiji to compete with international Islanders, though the aim was still to find love.
Bosses have confirmed the format will return for a second series, but without Maya at the helm.
They confirmed Ariana Madix, who became the host of Love Island USA last year, will take her place as presenter.
It comes after Ariana, 40, previously stepped in to anchor the show for Maya on two occasions during the first series.
Announcing the second instalment, bosses said: 'Peacock announce Love Island Games season 2 premieres September 16th, this time with Ariana Madix as host.
'It'll see all-star islanders from the UK, USA & Australia return for another game of love.'
Maya's departure from the spin-off has further fueled rumours she will quit the Love Island franchise altogether.
A source close to her previously told how she was planning to 'leave on a high' and quit the dating show at the end of the current series.
The insider told The Sun: 'Maya adores hosting Love Island and thinks it's a great fit for now. But she's keen to leave on a high and keep her career moving forward on the right tracks. She is incredibly ambitious and would like to keep focusing on primetime presenting opportunities.
'She also has hopes of working in America and doesn't want to be tied down. She has been building up her skills as a presenter and is very much part of the Love Island family.'
The insider added: 'She also has the unique perspective of having appeared herself as a contestant. She's just also had a successful stint on I'm A Celeb so the world is her oyster now.'
ITV previously denied the reports, with a spokesperson telling MailOnline: 'We are very much committed to Maya, who is a brilliant Love Island host, and we have no plans for a presenter change.'
Announcing the second instalment, bosses said: 'Peacock announce Love Island Games season 2 premieres September 16th, this time with Ariana Madix as host'
It comes after it was revealed Maya has become a multi-millionaire following the success of her TV career and business ventures.
The TV presenter has published accounts for her business MIJ & Co Entertainment which show assets in the company have increased to £1.83million from £1.37million.
The star appears to have doubled her earnings as she has cash worth £1.3million in the account over the last three months but had £618,774 the previous year.
Maya landed the full time role as Love Island's number one presenter when Laura Whitmore stood down.

Tobey Maguire and ex Jennifer Meyer 'still dealing with child custody issues'... 9 years after splitting

Tobey Maguire and his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer are still sorting their custody issues five years after they finalized their divorce. The Spider-Man actor, 50, and his former spouse, 48, share 16-year-old son Otis Tobias and 18-year-old Ruby Sweetheart. Maguire is asking for joint legal and physical custody of his son Otis in response to his ex's initial divorce filing from October 2020, according to documents obtained by People. He also asked that child support be determined through private mediation. Jennifer and Tobey met in 2003 while he was shooting Seabiscuit. They were engaged three years later, and welcomed their daughter Ruby in November 2006. They went on to marry the following year, and welcomed their second child, Otis, in 2009. The Hollywood power couple split in 2016 and filed for divorce in 2020. Their 2016 statement on their split mentioned their children. 'After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple,' they began. 'As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.' Tobey appears to be single while Jennifer is engaged to billionaire heir Geoffrey Ogunlesi, the son of Nigerian billionaire lawyer and investment banker Adebayo Ogunlesi. Maguire and Meyer reunited last month for Ruby's high school graduation. 'Congratulations Ruby!!!!! ♥️ Graduate of our dreams. We are so proud of you in every way. We love love love love love you baby ♥️' Meyer wrote in the caption. In December, Jennifer was spotted with her fiance and her son during a rare outing together. The trio were seen shopping for a Christmas tree. Jennifer and Geoffrey became engaged in September. 'YES!!!' the mom-of-two wrote in the caption of the Instagram snap, along with a black heart emoji, the infinity symbol, and sparkling stars emoji. Jennifer, whose best pals are Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, and Geoffrey went red carpet official in November 2023, after dating for several months. Jen is the daughter Ron Meyer, the cofounder of CAA, and former executive at NBC, COO/President of Universal. Meanwhile Tobey was spotted getting cozy with 22-year-old Danish model Mona Tougaard a month after Meyer announced her engagement. Last summer he was linked to a string of young ladies while vacationing in Europe and New York City. Meyer has credited 'angel' Gwyneth Paltrow for her amicable divorce from the actor. Paltrow, 51 was widely ridiculed for announcing her divorce from Coldplay star Chris Martin, 47, as a 'conscious uncoupling' in 2014. But Meyer said the actress' amicable split helped her navigate her own divorce from Maguire. Speaking on the Broad Ideas podcast, jewelry designer Meyer said: 'Right when Tobey and I were starting to break up, I watched what Gwyneth Paltrow was starting to do with Chris — this conscious uncoupling that everyone was making fun of.' 'I got to see it firsthand, and it was the most beautiful thing that I had ever witnessed two human beings go through. She was so loving and kind and open to him and she created this family.' 'I was like, 'Wow, that's not what I was taught growing up. I was taught that divorce was ugly … bad and would never be good.'' Meyer asked Paltrow: 'How did you do that? Please, what do I do? Because we're just starting to break up, and it's feeling very scary. … How can we come together for [these] human[s] we both created that we love? What do we do?' Meyer added that Paltrow introduced her to Dr. Habib Sadeghi: 'She didn't tell me their process, she didn't tell me anything.' Meyer said she had 'hit the jackpot of ex-husbands' with Maguire and added the pair were still 'best friends' years after their divorce.

John Krasinski to write, direct, produce 'A Quiet Place Part III'

John Krasinski is returning to direct, write and produce ' A Quiet Place Part III.' The film has been set for a July 9, 2027 theatrical release, Paramount Pictures said Friday. The first film, released in 2018, was a box-office smash, earning some $341 million worldwide on a budget of only $17 million. It also established Krasinski, who starred alongside his wife Emily Blunt in the post-apocalyptic horror, as a bankable filmmaker. He returned to write and direct 'A Quiet Place Part II," the release of which was delayed over a year due to the pandemic. The franchise also expanded to include a prequel, 'A Quiet Place: Day One.' Krasinski produced but handed over the reins to filmmaker Michael Sarnoski. In total, the three films have grossed over $892 million. Krasinski on Friday posted a graphic with the numeral 'III' and the release date on Instagram. No other details about cast or story were immediately available.

Shaughna Phillips reveals why Love Island's top couple won't last – and it makes sense

EXCLUSIVE: Shaughna Phillips, who shot to fame on the 2020 winter series of Love Island, has shared her thoughts on why the most popular couple in the villa won't last on the outside Former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has insisted that she doesn't see things working out between one of the most popular couples on the ITV2 dating show despite their current chemistry in the villa. ‌ Shaughna, 31, has said that she feels incredibly skeptical about smitten couple Toni Laites and Cach Mercer and doesn't see their romance lasting once the show is over. ‌ The ex Love Island star, who appeared on the winter series back in 2020, told The Mirror: "I felt bad for Toni because I think she did genuinely like Cach originally, but Harrison just threw her head into a spin." It comes after pregnant Shaughna revealed her biggest regret over her romance on the show. ‌ 'She probably acted on it mainly because she had known Harrison for a longer period of time than Cach," she added about Toni. 'She probably went with what felt familiar, and she made an uninformed decision in choosing Harrison - not through her own fault. Cach is this season's Ovie. He is an absolute king, and she did mess up the first time for a boy," Shaughna said. ‌ Despite the fact that Toni and Cach now seem on top of the world now that they are finally rid of all the love triangles, Shaughna has pointed out one major barrier for the couple in the future. 'They seem like they're going well in the villa, but sadly, I think there could be lingering animosity between the pair. I just have this feeling that although Cach hardly ever shows it, there's probably going to be a bit of tension when they get out into the real world," Shaughna said. ‌ 'Logistically as well it doesn't work – she lives in America. It's bad enough for couples who live far apart in the UK when coming out of the Love Island villa, but this is another level," she added to Card Player. Elsewhere, Shaughna has defended Cooksley for going back to Shakira Khan despite making things exclusive with Helena Ford just two days prior. Despite criticism online, Shaughna believes Harry's decision to pick Shakira was from the heart - not a tactical move. ‌ 'Harry is emotionally a donut, but he isn't a gameplayer,' she said. 'If he were being strategic, he would've stayed with Helena. 'If Harry had any chance of winning, it would've been with Helena, so he's messed that up. For him to now pick Shakira shows his genuine feelings, I believe. But wow… he left it late." ‌ 'I would love to say that Shakira should move on and not give Harry another chance, but I am a bit of a wet wipe, and so when I was her age, if I had even the smallest feelings for someone back then, as Shakira has for Harry, even if everyone was telling me they were bad news… if they turned to me and said, 'Let's try,' I'd be like, 'Okay, let's try again.' "So, I feel for Shakira. I think she does genuinely like him, and she was kind of soft-launching it when she said, 'In a perfect world, they'd be together.' I don't think anyone should judge her for that." Love Island continues Sunday at 9PM on ITV2 and ITVX.
