Aaron calls killer John out over his lies in heated Emmerdale showdown
John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth)'s manipulative ways in Emmerdale have backfired spectacularly. Trying to turn everyone against his rival Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), John engineered a situation where Robert became angry with his nephew Harry, and used this to turn Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) against him. He then goaded Robert about what had happened until Robert was in despair. Aaron (Danny Miller) heard Robert smashing up his room and went to investigate, and as he comforted an absolutely broken Robert the two men gave into the feelings that they still have for each other and ended up sleeping together. Obviously it's the last thing John would have wanted, but he was busy getting some bad news elsewhere. The police had discovered that the evidence against Owen, the man John framed for the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) was shaky at best. So from thinking he was nicely in the clear for that killing, John is once again worried that someone will finally link him to Nate's death. In upcoming episodes, Robert feels that he and Aaron have turned a corner and are meant to be together once again. Aaron, however, is full of guilt that he betrayed his husband John. He confides in Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb), who is annoyed by what he hears. Wracked with guilt, Aaron starts to think that leaving the village could be the only way he can remove himself from the temptation of Robert and make a proper go of things with John. This idea suits John very well. With the police having found an inconsistency with Owen's 'suicide note' – the document John wrote while he waited for Owen to die of a drugs overdose – the pressure is getting to be too much. There's some respite, however, when the removal man who came to take Nate's stuff away apparently confirms that Owen was the one who paid him to do the job, and Cain (Jeff Hordley) is satisfied that Owen is the man who killed his son. In the wake of this, Robert starts to think that perhaps he was wrong to be suspicious of John. But soon after that another villager finds a clue that raises disturbing questions. More Trending John has offered Mackenzie a lift in his van, and Mack finds something very suspicious in the vehicle. This leads to deadly danger for him as John realises he can't let Mack tell anyone else about his suspicions. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Man caught on CCTV 'starting fire which gutted Scots businesses and killed cat'
The blaze took place in Glasgow last month and a £10,000 reward has been offered for information. CCTV footage has emerged of a man allegedly starting a massive fire at a Glasgow business which lead to the death of a cat. The clip shows the man pouring a liquid onto the floor from a green canister. He then disappears out of sight, and moments later flames burst from the floor where the liquid had been poured at the business in question, in Glasgow's Kinning Park area. The fire took place at a building in Stanley Street on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Glasgow Live reports smoke could be seen from Anderston, on the other side of the Clyde. It rose from the scene as firefighters were pictured battling the flames from aerial platforms, after being scrambled to attend the blaze at 6.46am. A cat died in the fire. Nine fire engines attended after a 999 call. Police are probing the wilful fire-raising, with officers asking anyone with information to come forward. Now CCTV footage of the incident has emerged of the moment a man, riding a bike, enters the premises and sprays a substance before allegedly setting it alight. John McBride, who faces losing his house after his business The Grow Shop was destroyed in the blaze, said: "I got an alert from my alarm system that someone was in the business and I was half way there when I saw the flames. "I phoned 999 but by then the fire brigade was already there. It's completely gutted my business, my brothers, my mum's and the tattoo shop. There are about 15 people who have lost their jobs because of this." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Unfortunately, none of the businesses were insured after a claim for a fire at a nearby car garage five years ago raised the cost from £400 a year to almost £15,000, making it unaffordable. John continued: "I might lose my house, my brother might lose his, everyone is very stressed, and it's having a major impact on our health. My girlfriend has been in the hospital for two weeks now after having a stroke. "We keep three cats in the shop to keep down the rats, they come and go as they want. Zena died in the shop. It's only fortunate that the others were out at the time. "We don't know why anyone would do this. It's ruined so many lives. I estimate that it cost us all around £500,000 in lost stock and damage. "We're trying to get the word out to find who did this. The community has come together and raised £10,000 as a reward to anyone who can identify the guy in the CCTV." John – who had only just opened a second shop, on Spiersbridge Terrace in Thornliebank Industrial Estate – has been left without any income while bills continue to stack. He added: "We don't have any customers at the new shop yet. We're hoping it will pick up because I have no income and it's just bills after bills we are getting." A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: 'Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0563 of 31 July, 2025. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.'

West Mercia Police to cut staff jobs as it tackles £8m shortfall
Staff posts are to be cut at West Mercia Police as the force tackles an £8m budget gap, even though redundancies have already been police force for Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire has not confirmed to the BBC how many posts will go but has said the shortfall must be and crime commissioner (PCC) John Campion said there were issues about the distribution of police funds that had not been fixed by current or previous governments, an "unfairness" he had raised on several BBC has approached the Home Office for a response. Chief constable Richard Cooper said: "The difficult decision we have made, to make further police staff redundancies, is certainly not something we would choose to be doing."He said protecting people from harm remained the force's priority and it stood by its neighbourhood policing commitment. 'Action is being taken' The force had already made "significant savings" by cutting police staff, which are non-officer posts, but additional savings needed to be found, which included a further reduction in police staff roles, he force said it had continued to face challenges because of government funding not keeping pace with inflation and a growing demand on also revealed the cost of the workforce this year had been underestimated, because of the number of officers reaching higher pay points, and its officer cost was "higher than was budgeted for".The PCC said: "I want to reassure our communities that action is being taken to address these issues and ensure that the force is able to continue delivering an efficient and effective service and keep communities safe."Criticising how the government distributed funds to police, he said the force also faced growing mandates from government dictating how money should be and the chief constable were making best use of all resources, but it was "not enough", he said.
