Key Naxal operative arrested from Rohtak in Haryana: NIA
Priyanshu Kashyap, a native of the Naxal-infested Bastar district in Chhattisgarh and currently living in Rohtak district of Haryana, was nabbed on Tuesday on the basis of information provided by Haryana Police, the agency said.
The NIA team seized a mobile phone with SIM card, one Tablet, two memory cards, and 'incriminating' documents related to the CPI(Maoist) from the accused, it said.
Kashyap was found to be a member of the proscribed terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist), and was actively working to promote its anti-national activities as its area committee in-charge in Rohtak, the NIA statement alleged.
Leaders of CPI (Maoist) have been conspiring to re-energise the decrepit influence of the outfit in the Northern Regional Bureau (NRB), comprising Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, it said.
The conspiracy involves several underground and overground workers (OGWs) of the terror organisation, engaged in recruiting cadres and strengthening the outfit in the northern states, the NIA said.
Many front organisations and student wings are supporting the outfit's efforts to wage a war against the government of India, it claimed.
While the underground workers are in direct contact with senior leaders of CPI (Maoist), the OGWs operate in the guise of activists to further the nefarious agenda, the NIA said.
The workers were being provided funds from the Eastern Regional Bureau of the CPI (Maoist), especially from Jharkhand, NIA investigations have revealed.
The anti-terror agency had earlier arrested two other persons, Ajay Singhal alias Aman, in-charge of State Organising Committee (SOC) Haryana and Punjab, and Vishal Singh, member of CPI (Maoist), in the case.

Nagpur: The last election for Nagpur University (NU) student council was held in September 2019 and now demand is being made to conduct a fresh election. The demand was taken up on Sunday at Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's Janata Darbar, where other issues like space for a Muslim kabrastan, salaries for teachers in Naxal-affected border villages, and job reinstatement were also raised. Education should not be sold or restricted to some, says Stalin
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday said, 'Education should not be sold as a commodity or restricted to only a few, but should be made available even to the poor and downtrodden. Education is their weapon.' He was speaking an event held on the Tamil Nadu Open University campus at Saidapet here in honour of former Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Vice-Chancellor V. Vasanthi Devi, who died recently. In his virtual speech, he said the actions of his government were indeed tributes to her. 'Dr. Vasanthi Devi undertook several initiatives for the education of the poor,' he said. Mr. Stalin recalled the contributions of the former V-C in taking education to the underprivileged. Her actions served several institutions and she insisted on reforms and equality in education, he said. 'Even after her retirement, she worked for education and human rights.' 'We have released the State Education Policy so that the thoughts of academic experts are made actionable,' he added. Speaking at the event, CPI(M) leader K. Balakrishnan said Vasanthi Devi worked tirelessly for the people. 'In a world where education is being privatised, destroyed, and the right to education is being taken away, Vasanthi Devi worked to safeguard education till the very end,' he said. Dipankar slams EC over revision of electoral rolls
Patna: CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on Sunday accused the Election Commission (EC) of "daylight robbery" of votes through its special intensive revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral roll ahead of the state assembly elections. He urged people to defend their democratic rights, describing the situation as "an open EC versus the people of India challenge." Bhattacharya linked his party's concerns to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi's expose of alleged "vote theft" in Bengaluru during the 2024 general elections. Referring to the EC's affidavit in the Supreme Court concerning removal of 6.5 million electors from Bihar's rolls, Bhattacharya said the EC had "stubbornly rejected" the court's advice to disclose supporting documents. He criticised the EC for inconsistent data releases during the SIR, highlighting jumps in numbers of 'probably deceased' electors from 1.43 million to 2.2 million and 'permanently shifted' voters from 1.97 million to 3.6 million. Bhattacharya also pointed out the unexplained decline in electors registered at several locations, alleging manipulation in the revision process.
