Monsta X marks 10th year with full-member release 'Now Project Vol.1'
Group kicks off complete-unit activities with rerecorded hits and a special livestream event
Boy band Monsta X marked its 10th year with the release of 'Now Project Vol.1" on Wednesday, marking the group's first full-group album in nearly four years.
According to its agency, Starship Entertainment, the digital album was unveiled at noon and signals the return of Monsta X as a complete unit.
The title 'Now' is a nod to the present and a reverse of 'Mon,' the prefix in the group's name, symbolizing a reflection on the group's identity and timeline.
Debuting in May 2015, with its first EP 'Trespass,' Monsta X celebrates exactly 10 years since their debut by reuniting all six members for this special release. The album includes 10 tracks previously released between 2021 and 2023, during which leader Shownu was completing his mandatory military service and unable to participate.
Tracks such as 'Rush Hour,' 'Love' and 'Beautiful Liar' have been rerecorded to feature all six members' vocals, including recently discharged Hyungwon, who completed his military service Tuesday. Other songs include fan favorites like 'Autobahn,' 'Ride with U,' 'Mercy,' 'Love You,' 'Lone Ranger,' 'Deny' and 'It's Okay.'
All songs have been newly arranged and recorded to reflect the group's current sound. The members also participated in the songwriting, composing and production, showcasing their musical growth and identity as self-producing idols.
Monsta X is scheduled to host a special livestream on Wednesday at 7 p.m on its official YouTube channel to celebrate the group's debut anniversary. All six members will appear together to reflect on their journey, interact with fans in real-time and kick off their next chapter.
Known for their intense concepts, strong discography and commanding stage presence, Monsta X has earned its reputation as 'trustworthy performers,' with fans trusting the group in both music and performance.

Notorious "cyber wrecker" operator faces continous defeat in lawsuits Starship Entertainment, the agency behind girl group Ive, has won a partial victory in its lawsuit for damages against cyberbully YouTube channel "Taldeok Prison Camp." On Tuesday, the court ruled in favor of Starship, ordering the channel operator, a woman surnamed Park, born in 1988, to pay 50 million won ($37,000) in damages. The verdict will serve as a strong warning to a growing number of so-called "cyber wrecker" channels, which profit from spreading malicious, baseless rumors and defamatory content about celebrities. From November 2022, Starship filed both civil and criminal suits against 'Taldeok Prison Camp,' citing the continuous spread of false claims that severely defamed the agency and its artists, disrupted business operations, and caused significant emotional distress to both the artists and their fans. The agency initially sought 100 million won in damages. To identify the anonymous channel operator, Starship utilized the US legal system's discovery process. They first obtained a disclosure order from a US court and demanded that the identity of the person behind "Taldeok Prison Camp" be revealed to Google's US headquarters. Park became the first anonymous Korean YouTuber to be unmasked and brought to court. Between October 2021 and June 2023, Park uploaded 23 defamatory videos targeting seven celebrities. Earlier this year, Jang Wonyoung also won a separate civil suit against Park, with the court ordering Park to pay another 50 million won in damages. Park has faced other lawsuits and convictions for spreading malicious rumors about other K-pop stars, including Kang Daniel, Karina, Suho, V and Jungkook. In one such case, she was convicted in the first trial and sentenced to two years in prison, with three years' probation. The appeal is ongoing. In a statement following the court's decision, Starship said, 'Through this ruling, we have pursued every possible civil and criminal avenue against the operator of 'Taldeok Prison Camp.' We believe this result holds her legally accountable beyond the financial gains she made from her illegal acts.' The agency added, 'This case sends a clear and powerful warning to so-called 'cyber wrecker' creators who profit from content that defames, insults or slanders others for clicks and revenue.'

Virtual group Plave to launch first Asia tour
Pioneering virtual idol group to kick off 'Dash: Quantum Leap' tour after record-breaking success Plave, the leading K-pop group in the virtual artist scene, is set to embark on its first Asia tour. According to agency Vlast, Plave will kick off its "Dash: Quantum Leap" Asia tour with a concert at the KSPO Dome in Seoul from Aug. 15 to 17. This will be their first performance since the "Hello, Asterum! Encore" held in Seoul in October 2024. The KSPO Dome, which can accommodate over 10,000 people, is widely considered a benchmark of popularity and success for K-pop idol groups. Plave will be the first virtual idol group ever to perform on its stage. Starting in Seoul, Plave will go on to perform in five other cities, Taipei on Aug. 23, Hong Kong on Oct. 1, Jakarta on Oct. 18, Bangkok on Oct. 25 and Tokyo on Nov. 1–2. Debuting in 2023, Plave is a five-member virtual boy group consisting of Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho and Hamin. They've quickly risen in popularity across Korea and Asia, becoming one of the most successful virtual idol acts in K-pop. Using motion tracking and real-time rendering, the group translates the performers' actual movements directly into their virtual characters. Unlike AI-generated virtual humans, Plave's members perform live vocals and choreography at their concerts. The group's third mini album "Caligo Pt.1," released in February, featured the main track 'Dash,' which became the first song by a virtual idol group to enter Billboard's Global 200 chart. The album also broke Melon records with its highest-ever 24-hour streaming numbers, making Plave the only artist to simultaneously join both the Billions Club and the Millions Album record categories within a day of release. Plave is also set to expand its reach further with official Japanese debut single 'Hide and Seek,' scheduled for release on June 16.

Kiss of Life to hold encore in Seoul in July
S2 Entertainment, the agency behind Kiss of Life, announced on Thursday that the group will perform again in Seoul on July 19-20 to conclude its first international tour. The quartet kicked off its 'Kiss Road' tour in Seoul in October and traveled to 39 cities worldwide, including 15 in the US and 12 in Europe. Earlier in May, the group dropped the special digital single titled after the tour to reflect on the journey, fronted by the R&B pop tune, 'Live, Love, Laugh.'
