Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Star Crossed World release date and when you can try new Mouthfuls
A meteor has hit the Forgotten Land, bringing with it new graphical upgrades and stages for Kirby's most thrilling adventure yet.
The beloved pink puffball is set to make a triumphant return. Kirby and the Forgotten Land took Masuhiro Sakurai's creation into unexplored territory with a full 3D platforming adventure, and it was a resounding success, providing players with a delightful, super-sweet antidote to the harsh and grim atmospheres of modern gaming.
This adventure is hailed as one of Kirby's finest, and fortunately for fans, it's designed to offer even more on the second playthrough as it joins the ranks of Nintendo Switch 2 Editions to provide it with new visual enhancements and a whole new array of spectacular stages. The Star Crossed World segment of the game expands on many existing stages, as well as introducing a new story add-on that sees Kirby chasing down Starries to reverse the effects of a mysterious meteor.
The game promises to offer plenty more for both new and returning players to dive into, with new mouthful modes and locations set to integrate into the game quite seamlessly, along with some framerate and graphical upgrades along the way.
But when exactly can we expect this upgraded game to be released?
Here's everything you need to know about the release date for Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World release date
The release date for Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World has been confirmed for Thursday, August 28, at midnight local time, everywhere except in the United States. Nintendo had previously announced the date, but the exact time is an educated guess based on the company's preferred release schedule for its first-party titles, such as the Donkey Kong Bananza release date and Super Mario Party Jamboree.
This midnight release strategy means that gamers can wake up on the morning of Thursday, August 28 to play the new game, although the strict timing is relaxed across the United States. The US launch is set for 12pm on the East Coast, which translates to 9pm PDT / 11pm CDT on Wednesday, August 27 elsewhere in the country.
Fans are eagerly awaiting their return to the Forgotten Land, and the addition of the Star-Crossed Road only adds to the excitement. If you see us on our Switch 2 consoles, laughing and kicking our feet, you can bet it's all thanks to Kirby.

Dakota Johnson's biggest problem? Movies not as strange and funny as she is
The star of 'Madame Web' and 'Materialists' has proven she's a droll, eccentric, and inscrutable presence off screen, writes Louis Chilton. Why does Hollywood seem unable to bottle that? Sometimes, movie stars are a lot like onions. Before you accuse me of pilfering my metaphors from Shrek, I should say I don't mean that they have layers – though plenty do, of course – but onions have a way of just going with everything. Some actors, the Florence Pughs and Jesse Plemonses of the world, share exactly this quality: you can put them anywhere – a comedy or a romance, a Guy Ritchie thriller or A Midsummer Night's Dream – and they'll never offend the palate. They just always go. Dakota Johnson is not one of these actors. Johnson, the 35-year-old daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, is in the middle of one of the more curious movie careers in recent memory. She was propelled to fame playing sexual submissive Anastasia Steele in 2015's glossy, schlocky erotic drama Fifty Shades of Grey – a box-office behemoth that was nevertheless widely considered abject pap. Johnson gave an admirableperformance, but still ended up shouldering most of the scorn. In the years since, there have been promising highs (her two collaborations with director Luca Guadagnino, Suspiria and A Bigger Splash) and guileless lows (last year's Madame Web, a deliriously bad attempt to launch Johnson as a soothsaying Marvel hero). Materialists, out in cinemas this week, slinks bashfully into the latter category.

Young boy given 'strength by Spider-Man' to walk unassisted for first time after meeting hero
Noah Connell, who suffers from Pierre Robin Sequence, walked unassisted for the first time after meeting Spider-Man himself at the Glasgow film set. A vulnerable schoolboy has been given the 'strength by Spider-Man' to walk unassisted for the first time after being invited to the Glasgow film set. Noah Connell, eight, who suffers from Pierre Robin Sequence and was born with part of his spine missing, an underdeveloped jaw, cleft palate, a small neck and a floppy airway, took his first ever unassisted steps just hours after meeting his idol, Spider-Man. Despite doctors doubting Noah would survive infancy, he defied all odds and was dubbed a 'miracle baby'. The Barmulloch youngster also happens to be a big fan of comic book superheroes. So when marvel movie crews descended on Glasgow city centre to shoot Spider Man: Brand New Day, Noah's mum, Jade Gordon, 26, whisked the family down to catch a glimpse of the web slinger. She said: 'Noah loves superheroes but his favourite is Spider-Man. 'With them filming the new one in Glasgow, we took him down on Tuesday August 5 to the set to see if we could get a glimpse of him and watch everything that was going on, like the whole of Glasgow. 'These crew members approached us and gave Noah a wee Marvel badge but we were shocked at what happened next.' The stunt crew on the film who spoke to the family, named Elliot Murray and Yusef, ended up arranging for little Noah to meet Spider-Man himself on Sunday August 10. Jade continued: 'He was meant to meet Spidey that day but due to Storm Floris, which happened on the day before, they were behind on filming so it couldn't happen. 'The lovely crew members took my number though and on Sunday August 10 they got back in touch to organise for Noah to meet Spider-Man. 'We got taken right on set and got to watch it being filmed before one of the Spider-Man stunt men came over to Noah and spoke away, gave high fives and took pictures. 'It was the real-life Spider-Man to Noah, he was over the moon. He was pretending to shoot his webs and Noah was totally engrossed the whole time. He soaked it all up. 'Noah is non-verbal but he was so fixated and was touching his suit as if he couldn't believe Spider-Man was right in front of him. 'It was a classic example of kindness going a long way. This memory will last forever. 'We always say Noah is our wee superhero but he has been fortunate enough to now meet his superhero.' Later that evening, once the family got home from the set, Noah, who requires a wheelchair for the majority of the time and round-the-clock care as he cannot eat or speak and is fed through a tube, walked unassisted for the first time. His mother Jade has said that Spider-Man was one of the reasons for his miraculous step forward. She said: 'We have said that it was Spider-Man inspired and Noah is the superhero now. 'It was a great day already before he completed such a major milestone. It was such an emotional moment. 'Noah has limited mobility but he is so determined. He has been trying to do that for a year now through working with physios and building up his power. 'He managed to take a few unassisted steps and we joked that it was Spider-Man who gave him the strength to do it.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! PETA gives Nintendo free advertising by complaining about the cows in Mario Kart
The cows have been the breakout stars of Mario Kart World since it first appeared, but an animal rights group is upset at how they're depicted. Someone at PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal) is clearly a Nintendo fan, but we suspect Nintendo would really rather they weren't. The controversial animal rights group has highlighted Nintendo's depiction of animals before, most recently by insisting that you shouldn't fill the museum in Animal Crossing with insects and fish. The group has often highlighted popular media to try and make its points, such as complaining that horror movie remake Nosferatu defames rats and, a little more reasonably, protesting the depiction of whaling in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag (which is rumoured to be getting a remake soon). Now, the group has turned its attention to Mario Kart World, where the inclusion of a cow as a playable character has been met with great enthusiasm by fans. However, PETA is upset because it seems to be sporting a nose ring. 'Nose rings are used by the meat and dairy industries to exploit, control, and even drag animals to their deaths. These brass rings are crudely stabbed through the sensitive septum of cows and bulls, which can cause lasting pain and discomfort,' wrote PETA in an open letter to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. 'The brass ring in Cow's nose glosses over real world violence and cruelty to animals. That's why we're asking you to give this beloved bovine a small but meaningful upgrade: remove the nose ring and let Cow race freely – without any painful reminders of the industries that treat animals like profit-making machines.' PETA's tweet on the matter claims it's not a style choice, but that's not necessarily true. Since she knows how to operate a kart, Cow is presumably sapient, so it may simply be a cosmetic nose ring. Liberate Cow — PETA (@peta) August 14, 2025 As well as the usual Mushroom Kingdom crew, Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a number of generic enemies and side-characters, from a Goomba and Wiggler to a Snowman and Dolphin. More Trending These are unlocked essentially at random, by using the Kameck power-up during a race. It's not too hard to get them all but Cow has been one of the favourites right from the start, in part because she's so unexpected but also because she's cute and a homage to fan favourite course Moo Moo Meadows. There has been long-running speculation that more characters will be added to the game over time, but despite fans getting very suspicious at the fact that Donkey Kong and Pauline only have two costumes – whereas other much more minor characters have more – Nintendo has never confirmed anything. Given Donkey Kong Bananza has been out for a while now it's not clear when or where they might make an annoucement. So for now Cow's position as fan favourite is undisputed.
