Thousands of walkers in kilts stride out to raise millions for charity
Streets and paths between Glasgow and Loch Lomond were awash with tartan as people took part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk 2025 on Sunday, following a Kiltwalk between Clydebank and Balloch on Saturday.
In total 19,000 people walking for 1,100 Scottish charities took part over the weekend.
This year, Kiltwalk is also supporting Sir Chris Hoy's Tour de Four charity cycling event, which means that anyone who walks for Kiltwalk in 2025 will see everything they raise, plus eligible gift aid, go to five cancer charities nominated by Sir Chris.
The six-time Olympic champion cyclist was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in 2023, and was told last year that it has spread to his bones and is terminal.
The Hunter Foundation, founded by philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter, underwrites Kiltwalk, ensuring that all money raised by walkers goes to the charities of their choice, plus gift aid.
Sir Tom, who led the walkers on both days, said: 'In the 10 years that The Hunter Foundation has been involved with Kiltwalk, you and our foundation have raised an incredible £53 million for 4,000 Scottish charities.
'I believe the magic of Kiltwalk is quite simple: in every community across Scotland, there are people who need a wee hand up, and there are good folks like you who get up in the morning and help them.
'All the Kiltwalk does is simply connect you. There isn't a prouder Scotsman on the planet than me this morning.'
Comedian and broadcaster Paddy McGuinness was among those who took part in the Kiltwalk on Saturday.
So far the events this weekend have raised £3 million and this figure is expected to rise in the coming days.
Further Kiltwalks will take place in the coming months, in Aberdeen on Sunday June 1, St Andrews to Dundee on Sunday August 17 and Edinburgh on Sunday September 14.

Sir Billy Connolly warns fans of scammers impersonating him online
The Scottish actor and TV presenter, 82, said his wife Pamela Stephenson had also been impersonated and reminded members of the public that the sound of his voice can be recreated with artificial intelligence (AI). In a message on his website, he said: 'Dear friends, I have learned that, unfortunately, online scam artists are targeting my fans and supporters. 'They are impersonating me, often reaching out to fans soliciting direct messaging. 'They create multiple deceptive social media and email accounts, and there could well be criminal intent. 'For the protection of all my fans and supporters, please be aware of the following: 'My official Facebook page – Billy Connolly – is my ONLY social media account. 'I do not have an Instagram, X, Snapchat, Telegram or any other social media account. My only website is 'I NEVER interact directly with fans or supporters, and would never suggest they direct message me, meet me, send me money or purchase goods directly. 'I do not sell memberships, fan cards, meetings. I will never suggest meeting personally or ask for personal information. 'If you are asked for any of the above, it is a scam. 'My likeness and the sound of my voice can be created by AI … so beware! 'My wife Pamela is also being impersonated, but please be aware that neither she nor any of my children have public social media accounts or pages. 'Please be safe everyone! Love and cuddles, Billy.' Criminals can use voice cloning technology to replicate a person's voice from just a few seconds of audio, which can be easily captured from a video someone has uploaded online or to social media. Deepfake images of celebrities are often used in scams and fake adverts featuring public figures were the most reported scam adverts reported to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in 2024. Sir Billy, who was knighted in 2017 for services to entertainment and charity, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2013 and retired from live stand-up performances five years later, but has continued to record programmes and make TV appearances. His most recent projects include TV shows such as 2018's Billy Connolly: Made In Scotland, Billy Connolly's Great American Trail in 2019 and Billy Connolly Does… which began airing in 2022.

Chris Evans' CarFest moving to Silverstone for 2026
The event, which usually takes place at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, was set up by Virgin Radio UK host Evans, 59, in the 2010s to showcase live music and motoring track shows. From next August, the event moves to Silverstone, the Northamptonshire motor racing circuit that is home to Formula One's British Grand Prix and where scenes from Brad Pitt's F1 movie were filmed. Evans said: 'This move opens up possibilities we've never had before, more space, more cars, more ways to surprise and delight our audience and most importantly, an opportunity to raise even more money for UK children's charities.
