MBRF concludes the 'Youth Knowledge Forum for the Islamic World' - Middle East Business News and Information
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), concluded the 'Youth Knowledge Forum for the Islamic World' in Morocco under the theme 'Knowledge is the Future.'
The Youth Knowledge Forum (YKF) aligns with MBRF's ongoing efforts to empower young people, foster their creative and innovative talents in knowledge fields, and prepare them for tomorrow's professions. It also showcased inspiring success stories and young role models, highlighting pioneering experiences and impactful initiatives across the Islamic World.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF , stated: 'The outstanding success of the YKF highlights MBRF's unwavering commitment to empowering youth, unlocking their full potential, and nurturing their creative talents. We firmly believe that young people play a pivotal role in shaping a prosperous future. The YKF's extensive engagement and robust international participation reflect the eagerness for knowledge among youth across the Islamic World, as well as their determination to pursue growth and explore new horizons in various scientific and intellectual fields.'
His Excellency added: 'At MBRF, we remain committed to launching innovative initiatives and projects that support and empower youth, equipping them with the tools and skills necessary to achieve their aspirations and adapt to the rapid advancements in knowledge and innovation. Investing in young minds is the cornerstone of sustainable development and the foundation for building societies driven by knowledge and innovation.'
During his closing remarks, Dr. Hany Torky, Chief Technical Advisor and Project Manager of the Knowledge Project at UNDP, stated that the trend now shifts towards launching a digital platform where young people can submit suggestions on ways to promote knowledge. These proposals will be reviewed and evaluated with the aim of putting them into practice.
For her part, Dr. Sally Mabrouk, Director of the Office of the ICESCO Director-General , commended the great success of the YFK. She noted the high attendance and the significant engagement of young people via live streaming, which reached nearly two million live views over the two days of the event. This, she said, reflects the growing importance of such forums in empowering youth and preparing them for the future.
The YKF hosted hundreds of young participants from across the Islamic World at the ICESCO headquarters in Rabat, with 600 attendees on the first day and 400 on the second. In addition to discussion sessions covering various fields of knowledge, the event featured success stories of creative and innovative young women and men, encouraging participants to pursue their aspirations and advance their intellectual journeys.

Rana Atef Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation and Egypt's Governor to the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), met with Dr. Abdallah Al-Dardari, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the partnership framework between Egypt and the UNDP, within the broader partnership with the United Nations, and the implementation of the Strategic Framework for Cooperation for Sustainable Development 2023-2027. In this regard, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat emphasized the evolution of the partnership with the UNDP over the past years and its diversification across various fields that enhance development efforts. The two sides also touched on preparations for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development in Spain next June, and its importance in reforming the global financial structure and exploring solutions to complex challenges facing the global development landscape. They also discussed joint events to be held by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, in cooperation with the UNDP, during the conference to advance global efforts in climate finance and stimulate private sector participation. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat commended the effective participation of the UNDP with the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation in launching the Integrated National Strategy for Financing Development last March. This strategy is a key document that highlights Egypt's approach to financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and proposes an integrated national financing framework that serves as an umbrella encompassing various financing initiatives aimed at accelerating the achievement of the SDGs. In this context, Dr. Al-Mashat affirmed that the Ministry is moving towards the implementation phase, and expressed aspiration for continued support from the Programme in activating the strategy's action plan, particularly in coordination with development partners and other financial institutions. The goal is to translate Egypt's Vision 2030 and the SDGs into an integrated financing system that links planning and financing. Dr. Al-Mashat also expressed anticipation of continued cooperation with the Programme in preparing the Human Development Report for Egypt for 2025. A pivotal foundational workshop was organized on April 13, 2025, bringing together representatives from academia, civil society, and national institutions. She emphasized the importance of broad participation and the involvement of multiple stakeholders in formulating the report's vision and determining its analytical path. In a related context, the meeting reviewed Egypt's progress in the 2025 UNDP Human Development Index report, particularly regarding the improvement of healthcare services, years of schooling, and closing the gender gap. Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted the Ministry's endeavors to maximize economic development in order to bridge sectoral development gaps in various fields, especially in human and industrial development and other priority areas. Minister Al-Mashat also presented the national narrative for economic development that the Ministry seeks to launch in the coming period. This narrative aims to align Egypt's Vision 2030 with the government's action program by setting clear targets that contribute to boosting economic development and achieving the resilience of the Egyptian economy, with a focus on key sectors: macroeconomic stability and financing for development, industrial development, foreign direct investment, employment, and investment in human capital. Dr. Al-Mashat praised the Programme's support in preparing and publishing 27 local reports on localizing the SDGs. The manual aims to positively shape the future by developing new models for managing knowledge, innovation, and AI in government and commercial organizations Dubai, UAE,May 2025 – The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) launched a first-of-its-kind 'MBRF Manual for ISO Integrated Knowledge Management, Innovation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Standards.' The manual aims to drive government and commercial excellence and achieve integration between knowledge, innovation, AI, and smart technologies, in line with MBRF's ongoing efforts to support sustainable economic through technological leadership. Furthermore, the Integrated Manual offers ways to merge the three key internationally accredited standards, namely, ISO 30401 (Knowledge Management Systems), ISO 56001 (Innovation Management Systems), and ISO 42001 (AI Management Systems), marking a crucial milestone in the development of advanced management systems. The manual also addresses complex challenges faced by organizations in the digital age, particularly in regard to the management of expansive datasets, the urgent need for innovation and the burgeoning role of AI in enhancing services. Notably, this is the world's first-ever manual to successfully combine these three ISO standards into a single document, underscoring MBRF's leadership in creating new models for managing knowledge-based institutions. During the launch, MBRF announced a comprehensive training program for government departments, aimed at empowering them to obtain various ISO certifications. The program provides an overview of the three standards, the interrelation between knowledge, innovation, and AI, along with practical training on designing integrated management systems tailored to specific organizational needs. MBRF kicks off participation at Turin Book Fair 2025 with a seminar on ‘The Legacy of Muslim Sicily' encyclopedia
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) commenced its participation at the Turin International Book Fair 2025, one of Europe's most prestigious intellectual and cultural gatherings, which is taking place from May 15 to 19, 2025. MBRF's participation at the event reflects its ongoing efforts to expand its global footprint, promote its knowledge-based initiatives and showcase its leading intellectual publications across science, academia, and publishing. In line with its participation, MBRF organized a dedicated seminar exploring the recently published 'The Legacy of Muslim Sicily' encyclopedia. The session featured H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, alongside Dr. Attilio Petruccioli, Professor in the Department of Architecture and Building at the University of Rome, and Dr. Francesco Violante, Associate Professor of Medieval History at the University of Bari, Italy. During his keynote address, H.E. bin Huwaireb stated that the encyclopedia is the outcome of eighteen years of meticulous academic research, spearheaded by the late renowned thinker and scholar Dr. Salma Khadra Jayyusi. The publication includes 30 scholarly essays by 29 researchers from Italy, the Arab world, Europe and the Americas. Furthermore, H.E. highlighted that apart from recording Sicily's Islamic era (831 -1091 CE), the encyclopedia also depicts the remarkable civilizational legacy that influenced various aspects of the island, including its architecture, sciences, arts, language, and social structures, marking a lasting impact on this Mediterranean crossroads. In addition, H.E. bin Huwaireb emphasized that MBRF functions under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote cross-cultural dialogue and mutual understanding. He further highlighted the pivotal role of knowledge in facilitating civilization exchange, noting that MBRF aims to spotlight the lasting contributions of Arab and Muslim civilizations for human progress. He also said that the release of the encyclopedia in English, with an Italian edition to follow, will open new pathways for global scholarly exchange, providing historians and researchers with an authoritative resource on a pivotal yet frequently overlooked chapter of Arab-European history. While Andalusia has traditionally occupied the spotlight in discussions of Islamic influence in Europe, Sicily's equally rich and transformative legacy is now being acknowledged as an integral part of our shared civilizational heritage. Dr. Attilio Petruccioli, a contributor to the encyclopedia, said: 'I am honored to be a part of this pivotal academic work that re-examines the architectural and urban legacy of the Arab-Islamic civilization in Sicily. My essay in the publication is centered on analyzing architectural structures, urban planning, and landscapes, using a methodology aimed at reconstructing typological processes and challenging long-standing preconceptions that have often hindered research in this field.' He said: 'I have included tangible examples of various sites and buildings that highlight Arab cultural presence in Sicily that are overlooked or completely attributed to the Norman period. Furthermore, I have supervised in-depth studies on Islamic water infrastructure and gardens, which reflect the established archaeological and architectural data. Through this publication, we have also introduced new perspectives that require more research. We believe this book goes beyond mere documentation of the past; rather, it serves as an open invitation to revisit history through a scientific and methodological lens, fostering a deeper and more balanced understanding of the civilizations that have shaped Mediterranean identity.' Meanwhile, Dr. Francesco Violante explained that the publication indicates a significant move towards a thorough understanding of the historical and cultural link between the people of the region, beyond the conventional narratives that have often excluded the contributions of Islamic civilization from the European narrative. This initiative revisits history based on diverse scientific sources to highlight the pivotal role of Muslim Sicily in shaping geopolitical, economic, and cultural exchange, and the broader Mediterranean identity.
