CAIRO –11 June 2025: During his visit to Norway, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atti, participated in the opening session of the 2025 Oslo Forum on Wednesday morning. This year's forum focuses on mediation efforts during international conflicts.
He also joined a panel discussion titled "A Different Future for the Middle East," alongside several foreign ministers, addressing ways to end the Israeli war on Gaza and achieve de-escalation and stability in the region.
The Foreign Minister emphasized the international consensus on the necessity of implementing the two-state solution, reiterating Egypt's steadfast commitment to ending the war and the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. He stressed the importance of ensuring a permanent ceasefire and facilitating unimpeded humanitarian aid access.
Dr. Abdel-Atti condemned the widespread destruction in the Gaza Strip, viewing it as a deliberate attempt to restrict the options of its inhabitants, displace them, and expand Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories. He underscored that Israel's obstruction of humanitarian aid to Gaza constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
Minister Abdel-Atti also addressed the situation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, highlighting the hostile environment Palestinians face due to restrictive and discriminatory Israeli policies and practices, which have intensified since October 2023. These include military incursions, home demolitions, forced evictions, settlement activities, and settler violence.
The Foreign Minister outlined Egypt's efforts to halt the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, including serious endeavors to achieve a ceasefire and ensure the rapid and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Foreign Minister referred to the extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo on March 4, 2025, which adopted a plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing its residents. He noted the widespread Arab, Islamic, and international support this plan received and stated Egypt's intention to hold an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip immediately upon the cessation of hostilities.
Minister Abdel-Atti emphasized the importance of recognizing the Palestinian state to promote peace, justice, and stability in the Middle East, calling on all members of the international community to recognize the State of Palestine.

Egypt, U.S. FMs Discuss Strategic Partnership, Regional Crises in Washington

Nada Mustafa Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington to discuss ways of strengthening the close bilateral ties between Egypt and the United States (U.S.), as well as to exchange views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern. Durong their meeting, Abdelatty conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to President Donald Trump, affirming Egypt's pride in its longstanding strategic partnership with US. Moreover, he expressed Egypt's keenness to continue close coordination and cooperation with the U.S. administration under President Trump's leadership to deepen the partnership in political, security, military, and economic spheres, especially during this critical period for the Middle East. He also reiterated Egypt's interest in resuming the U.S.-Egypt Strategic Dialogue on a regular basis. Both ministers explored avenues to boost economic, trade, and investment cooperation. In this regard, Abdelatty praised the outcomes of the Egypt-U.S. Business Forum held in Cairo last May, which saw the participation of more than 50 American companies, including 12 firms entering the Egyptian market for the first time. This, he noted, reflects Egypt's commitment to attracting foreign investment and enhancing economic partnerships with the United States. Furthermore, the two ministers emphasized the importance of continuing coordination to convene a new round of meetings for the Joint Economic Commission and another edition of the Egypt-U.S. Business Forum to expand bilateral economic cooperation. The talks included extensive discussions on urgent regional developments, foremost among them the catastrophic situation in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, and ongoing challenges in Libya, Syria, Lebanon, and Africa, as well as concerns related to Egypt's water security. On the Palestinian issue, Abdelatty reiterated the necessity of reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of ending bloodshed and ensuring the sustained flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory, which is suffering from a deliberate Israeli starvation policy. He also called for urgent action to address the worsening humanitarian crisis and stressed the need to revive a political horizon for a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian cause. This includes restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. In addition, Abdelatty expressed hope for continued close collaboration with the U.S. administration to lay the foundation for comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East that serves all peoples of the region. Regarding Sudan, the two ministers discussed the importance of securing a ceasefire and facilitating humanitarian access. In the same context, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Sudanese state institutions, emphasizing respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. As for Egypt's water security, Abdelatty conveyed Egypt's concerns over the Nile River issue and reaffirmed Egypt's position that any agreement must comply with international law governing transboundary water resources. He stressed the urgent need to reach a legally binding agreement regulating the operation of the Ethiopian dam and rejected Ethiopia's unilateral actions, which violate international norms. Moreover, FM affirmed that Egypt will take all measures permitted under international law to safeguard its water security. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Egypt partners with Italian academy to launch applied technology schools for electricity sector

Egypt has signed a cooperation protocol with Italy's Nova Technology della Vita Academy to establish and develop five applied technology schools focused on the electricity sector, the prime minister's office said in a statement. Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing ceremony on Wednesday in the city of New Alamein. The agreement is between the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and the Italian academy. The schools, which will apply international quality standards in the fields of electricity production, transmission, and distribution, are set to begin operating in the 2025/2026 academic year. Madbouly said the agreement enhances the state's plans to develop its technical education and vocational training systems to produce graduates qualified to meet the needs of both local and international labour markets, particularly in the priority sector of electricity and renewable energy. Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif stated that the ministry is implementing a national strategy to develop technical education by updating curricula in consultation with the labour market. He said the ministry aims to expand the number of applied technology schools and introduce new practical specialisations to boost Egyptian industry. 'This cooperation represents a serious step towards building a new generation of qualified technicians capable of contributing effectively to building the national economy,' Abdel Latif said. Electricity Minister Mahmoud Essmat added that the development of a smart grid and the expansion of renewable energy require a workforce with specific skills. He said this protocol aims to prepare qualified technical cadres with the skills and standards required globally to keep pace with developments in the sector. According to the protocol, the schools will aim to graduate technicians qualified to work in electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and new and renewable energy. The study period will be three to five years, and successful graduates will receive a certificate of completion of secondary education in applied technology, a certificate of experience from the Ministry of Electricity, and a certificate from the Italian academy. The protocol aims to improve the quality of technical education outputs, address unemployment by creating real job opportunities for graduates, and support economic development by empowering Egyptian youth with modern skills.
