Blake Lively Drops Bombshell Claims Against Justin Baldoni To Avoid Sharing Medical Records

Yahoo2 days ago

Blake Lively has made a surprising legal move in her ongoing dispute with Justin Baldoni. The actress is seeking to withdraw her claims of intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress against her 'It Ends With Us' co-star and director.
This decision comes after Baldoni's legal team requested access to Lively's medical and mental health records to substantiate her distress claims.
While Lively's team describes the withdrawal as a procedural step, Baldoni's attorneys argue it is an attempt to avoid disclosing sensitive information.
On Monday, June 2, court documents revealed that Lively had requested to withdraw claims that Baldoni caused her emotional distress while filming 'It Ends With Us.'
The decision to drop the claims came after Baldoni's team requested that Lively sign a release form for them to access her mental health and medical records.
The actor's team noted that the medical records were important to Lively's allegations.
'Instead of complying with the Medical RFPs, Ms. Lively's counsel recently advised us, in writing, that Ms. Lively is withdrawing her [infliction of emotional distress] claims,' Baldoni's team wrote in the court papers addressed to Judge Lewis J. Liman in U.S. District Court Southern District of New York per Page Six.
They noted that Lively's lack of compliance meant that she wanted to maintain the right to refile her emotional distress claims at a later date after the discovery window had closed.
In response to the filing, the 37-year-old's lawyers, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, told the Daily Mail that the withdrawal of the claims was a procedural step to focus on the more substantial allegations.
'Once again, this is a routine part of the litigation process that is being used as a press stunt. We are doing what trial lawyers do: preparing our case for trial by streamlining and focusing it; they are doing what they do: desperately seeking another tired round of tabloid coverage,' they shared.
Hudson and Gottlieb also told the publication that Blake Lively still 'alleged emotional distress, as part of numerous other claims in her lawsuit, such as sexual harassment and retaliation, and massive additional compensatory damages on all of her claims.'
Baldoni and Lively's legal tussle began in December 2024 when the 'Gossip Girl' filed a sexual harassment complaint against the 41-year-old, alleging misconduct and a retaliation smear campaign after she spoke up.
In the filing, the mother of four claimed that Baldoni's behavior during and after filming had emotionally affected her.
According to Lively, the emotional impact was so extreme that it also affected her family, including her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and their kids.
Among many allegations, the Hollywood icon claimed that Baldoni walked into her makeup trailer uninvited while she was breastfeeding, talked about a previous pornography addiction, alluded to past non-consensual sexual encounters, and asked Lively to divulge details of her own 'intimate life.'
Baldoni strongly denied the sexual harassment allegations made by Blake Lively, calling them 'false, malicious, and defamatory.'
The filmmaker responded to her lawsuit by filing a $400 million countersuit for defamation and extortion.
In his filing, Baldoni accused Lively and her husband of launching a coordinated campaign to destroy his reputation and career.
He claimed that Lively's accusations were not only baseless but were also used as leverage to gain control over the film's narrative and outcome.
Baldoni also alleged that after he refused to comply with certain demands, the couple retaliated by spreading damaging falsehoods both privately and publicly.
His legal team insisted the countersuit was meant to hold Lively and Reynolds accountable for their 'smear campaign,' and he maintained that he has always upheld a professional environment on and off set.
The director didn't stop there; he dragged Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift into the feud.
He subpoenaed the singer and also sent a legal letter alleging that Blake Lively threatened to leak a decade's worth of text messages if Swift didn't publicly back her up.
However, Lively's team denied the claims and asked that the subpoena be withdrawn, which the court granted.
Despite the subpoena being dropped, insiders have claimed that Lively and Swift's relationship is no longer the same.
'There's been radio silence between Taylor and Blake since the subpoena was dropped,' a source told Us Weekly.
They also revealed that their previously tight-knit friendship had 'stalled' under the weight of 'legal tension,' and the emotional fallout had created enough distance that 'they won't pick up where they left off.'

Romeo Beckham splits from girlfriend Kim Turnbull after 7 months amid family feud

Romeo Beckham and Kim Turnbull have gone their separate ways, as family tensions within the Beckham clan continue to simmer. The 22-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham had dated Turnbull, 26, for seven months before their romance turned sour. The couple ultimately parted ways in May, just three weeks after a lavish 50th birthday celebration for Romeo's father, David Beckham — an event that seemed to underscore lingering tensions within the family. 5 Romeo Beckham and Kim Turnbull have called it quits as tensions continue to rumble within the Beckham family. GC Images 'Romeo and Kim are both young and they had a lovely time together, but at that age, things don't always last forever, and they decided to split up,' a source told the Daily Mail. 'They have been friendly since and have even been at the same venues. It's a huge shame, particularly as David and Victoria really adored her and thought she made Romeo happy, but it wasn't to be.' Insiders claim that the split had nothing to do with Romeo's rumored feud with brother Brooklyn. 'David and Victoria would hate for the view to be that they split because of Nicola (Peltz) and Brooklyn because that simply isn't the case,' they said. 5 The 22-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham had dated Turnbull, 26, for seven months before their romance turned 180 Studios 5 Insiders claim that the split had nothing to do with Romeo's rumored feud with brother Brooklyn, 26. Prince William appears to take dig at brother Prince Harry in rare family comment

Blood isn't always thicker than water. Prince William appeared to take a subtle dig at Prince Harry during a royal outing to the regiment once associated with his younger brother. The incident unfolded on Wednesday, June 4, when the 42-year-old heir apparent visited the Army Air Corps (ACC) in Wattisham, Suffolk. It marked William's first time touring the regiment since becoming the colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps, and he made a rare comment about family while taking a water break with a group of British soldiers. 'Is the pace of life good at the moment?' the Prince of Wales asked, according to Daily Mail. 'Families okay? See you enough?' William continued after one soldier said it was 'a mixed bag.' 'Some of them might not want to see you that much,' the prince added. 'It's a mixed bag sometimes.' While it is unclear if William's comment was a veiled dig at his estranged brother, the remark came at an interesting time amid his ongoing feud with Harry and Meghan Markle. William took charge of Harry's former regiment when King Charles named his oldest son colonel-in-chief of the ACC in May 2024. The Duke of Sussex, 40, trained as an ACC pilot in 2009 and later served with the British Army's combat aviation arm in 2012 and 2013 during his second tour of Afghanistan. Plus, it is believed that Charles, 76, would have named Harry the Colonel-in-Chief of the ACC if he and his wife had not 'stepped back' from their royal duties in January 2020. Harry and William's feud goes beyond the older brother's new title. The royal rift peaked after Harry and Markle, 43, spoke out against Buckingham Palace during their infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. It then continued with the couple's 'Harry & Meghan' Netflix docuseries in December 2022, as well as with Harry's memoir 'Spare' in January 2023. 'The underlying issue is trust,' an insider told People on Tuesday regarding the royal family's feud. 'The King and William don't trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation.' Meanwhile, Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, 43, have not been seen together with Harry and Markle since Queen Elizabeth's funeral in September 2022. Although the brothers were both at their father's coronation when he officially ascended to the throne in May 2023, they reportedly avoided one another. Then, in August 2024, William and Harry were said to have 'kept their distance' once again while attending a memorial service in Norfolk for their late uncle, Robert Fellowes. 'William and Harry were both there,' a witness told The Sun after the service, 'but we never saw them speak to each other and they were keeping their distance.' As for King Charles and Prince Harry, it is said to be 'extremely unlikely' that the pair will reconcile anytime soon, even as the monarch suffers from an undisclosed form of cancer. 'Prince Harry is the king's flesh and blood, so of course he would like some sort of reconciliation with his youngest son,' Helena Chard, a British broadcaster, told Fox News Digital before Charles' trip to Canada last week. 'However, it's been over five years since Megxit, and still, Prince Harry is full of animosity,' she added. 'Prince Harry has blown all trust and any reconciliation with his father and the royal family for the moment.'

Judge temporarily halts deportation of Boulder suspect's family

June 4 (UPI) -- A federal judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked the deportation of family members of the Egyptian national charged in the anti-Semitic attack in Boulder, Colo. In the U.S. District Court in Denver, Judge Gordon P. Gallagher directed the federal government to stop the deportation proceedings of Mohamed Soliman's 41-year-old wife, Hayem El Gamal, and their five children. On Tuesday, they were taken into U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in Florence, Colo., about 40 miles from their home in Colorado Springs. Federal immigration records show they are being held at a federal detention center in Dilley, Texas, designed to house families with minors, CBS News reported. The White House posted Tuesday on X: "THEY COULD BE DEPORTED AS EARLY AS TONIGHT." "Defendants SHALL NOT REMOVE" the five undocumented migrants from Colorado or the United States "unless or until this Court or the Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit vacates this order," Gallagher wrote in his order. "Moreover, the Court finds that deportation without process could work irreparable harm and an order must (be) issue(d) without notice due to the urgency this situation presents." He set a hearing for June 13 for a request on a temporary restraining order. The Washington Post reported the family was held "incommunicado and without access to a lawyer" after they were placed in ICE custody on Tuesday, their lawyers said in court records. By applying for asylum, the Trump administration can't legally speed up their deportation, the legal representative said. "Punishing individuals - including children as young as four-years-old - for the purported actions of their relatives is a feature of medieval justice systems or police state dictatorships, not democracies," family attorney Eric Lee said Wednesday in a statement to CNN. "The detention and attempted removal of this family is an assault on core democratic principles and must provoke widespread opposition in the population, immigrant and non-immigrant alike." In the court filing obtained by The New York Times, the suspect's wife "was shocked to learn" that her husband "was arrested for having committed a violent act against a peaceful gathering of individuals commemorating Israeli hostages." After his arrest, Soliman told detectives "no one" knew about his attack plans," including his wife or children, according to the affidavit for his arrest filed Sunday. "We are investigating to what extent his family knew about this heinous attack, if they had knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it. I am continuing to pray for the victims of this attack and their families. Justice will be served," Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem posted on X on Tuesday. The children are an 18-year-old daughter, two girls and two boys. They are Egyptian citizens, according to the Department of Homeland Security. El Gamal, 41, is a network engineer with a pending EB-2 visa for professionals with advanced degrees. The eldest daughter, identified as Habiba Soliman, recently graduated from high school in Colorado Springs. An article in the Colorado Springs Gazette on April 25 said she had won a scholarship and planned to study medicine. In August 2022, they were initially granted entry until February 2023, DHS said in a Wednesday statement. Soliman applied for asylum in September 2022 in Denver, the agency said. In 2023, Soliman received a two-year work authorization that expired in March, a DHS official told CNN. Authorities say Soliman yelled "Free Palestine" and used a flamethrower to ignite molotov cocktails and threw them into the crowd where a pro-Israeli group, Run for Their Lives, was seeking the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza.
