Birmingham City boss Davies on 'deserved' comeback and penalty call
The Midlands club had trailed after Todd Cantwell's volley but scored twice in stoppage time to turn the contest on its head.
Davies hailed his side's character in a "very difficult situation" after going 1-0 down on the road.
'It was an excellent win,' he said after the final whistle. 'Last minute winners are always something to cherish and savour, especially in front of 7,000 travelling fans.
'It's that intangible character side that is so important in football. We have got belief and we've shown in the early games that we've competed really well.
'I think we have been the better team in all the three games that we've had, league and cup, this season.
'But a goal down away from home at Blackburn Rovers - very, very difficult situation - and then you can lose your head or discipline or start doing different things.
'What I love is we just look like us. We had it in the week [against Sheffield United] with what we felt was an unjust goal against us.
'But we just got back to us, moved the ball quickly, positions were there with real intent, and we deserved to win this game.'
The equaliser came from the penalty spot after Sidnei Tavares was judged to have tripped Ethan Laird in the box.
When asked if it was the right call, Davies insisted: 'Absolutely, 100 per cent.
'I think when Ethan is driving at that speed - he sort of dropped his shoulder and took his touch in the side - because he's right-footed as well, if he doesn't sort of foul him then he could shoot or lay the ball off to someone.
'So definitely, and I'm really pleased for Ethan because he had to come in to left-back – very unnatural position for him - but he handled it so well up against the winger who is pretty decent. And yeah, a definite penalty.'
The Birmingham boss was also quizzed about an incident involving Jay Stansfield, who slotted home the equaliser.
'He said someone had thrown something onto his head so I'm not sure what all that was about, but I don't want to see any of that,' Davies explained.
'It's a shame but I think he's OK, I haven't found out any more about it.'

Chelsea will make around £3.75m after Omari Hutchinson completed his move to Nottingham Forest according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
