Jacksonville man arrested for attempted kidnapping, other charges after following two females
ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man on multiple felony charges after an attempted robbery on Tuesday.
Around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to the area of Forest Ride Trail and Brittany Lane after they received a call regarding a man attempting to rob two females. When they arrived on scene, the females inside a Grey Dodge pickup truck sent them to the suspects vehicle.
Once deputies spotted the grey Hyundai Elantra, a chase began. The car was boxed in by two deputy vehicles when the suspect came to a stop near 3153 Freedom Way. He was identified as 24-year-old Andre Anderson Derival and was taken into custody.
He was charged with:
Felony attempted kidnapping
Felony common law robbery
Felony assault government official/employee
Felony breaking and entering vehicle
Injury to personal property
No operator license
Hit and run property damage
Reckless driving
Speeding
Felony flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle
Further investigation showed he was watching the females at a nearby doctor's office before following the females into their driveway. Once there, Derival pulled in behind them and tried to open the doors. He also blocked the vehicle several times before attempting to smash the window on the driver's side.
Derival received no bond and is currently in the Onslow County Detention Center.
Other than damages to the vehicle, no physical injuries were reported. The incident is still an open and ongoing investigation.

5 facing felony charges following federal investigation into fentanyl sales in Chicago
A federal investigation targeting fentanyl sales in Chicago has resulted in felony charges against five people. The firearms charges against Collins, Daniels and Serrano were handed down after they were allegedly found to be illegally possessing firearms, including handguns equipped with a switch device, which makes the weapons capable of firing multiple rounds with a single pull of the trigger, prosecutors said. All five suspects are currently in custody. LATEST CASES: Missing people in Chicagoland If convicted, Daniels, Serrano, Anderson, and Lemon could face a maximum sentence of life in federal prison, as well as mandatory minimums ranging from ten to 15 years. Collins could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The investigation into the case was conducted as part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ-led nationwide initiative launched in March to intensify prosecution against illegal immigration, cartels, human trafficking, and violent crime. Police: New Iberia store clerk shoots would-be armed robber
NEW IBERIA, La. () — A New Iberia store clerk shot a person who was trying to rob the store Thursday night, authorities said. New Iberia Police received a call at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday about a shooting at a convenience store located in the 200 block of Center Street. Investigators said a person entered the store armed with a 'cutting instrument,' walked around the counter and attempted to rob the store clerk. A struggle ensued and the robbery suspect was shot by the store clerk, authorities said. Police use tracking device to help apprehend Hamden carjacking suspects
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police say they used a tracking device to help apprehend three people accused of fleeing from a carjacking in Hamden Thursday night. Johnny Jones, 20; Malachi Macfarlane, 18; and a 17-year-old boy were all charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, weapon in a motor vehicle, and interfering with police. New Haven man arrested for alleged handgun threat Jones- the driver- was also charged with engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, weapon in a motor vehicle and carrying a pistol without a permit. Police said it was around 9:19 p.m. when they were notified by Hamden police of a carjacking that had just happened. The NHPD Real Time Crime Center then located the vehicle in the area of Goffe Street, by Webster Street. Officers used spike strips and Star Chase- a GPS tracking device- on the vehicle, which they said ended up crashing into a fence on North Place in West Haven. A .40 caliber handgun was located in the vehicle during the arrests, police said. 'This is great police work. From Hamden notifying us of a carjacking, then our use of technology to located the vehicle, safely deflate its tires and track it to West Haven where we recovered the suspects and took a gun off the streets,' New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said. 'I can't speak highly enough about how our officers responded.' Macfarlane and Jones were held on $500,000 and $300,000 bonds respectively and the juvenile was released to his guardian.
