Paul Sartori Foundation announces Death Matters Week events

The Paul Sartori Foundation is organising these events during Dying Matters Week 2025.
The week will start with a concert at St Mary's Church, Haverfordwest, on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1pm.
The event will feature performances by the Paul Sartori Community Choir and will serve as a platform to highlight the importance of end-of-life conversations.
The concert aims to bring the community together through music, creating a supportive environment to discuss topics often considered taboo.
Continuing the week's events, the foundation will host an information and activities day on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 10am to 2.30pm at The Third Place in Milford Haven.
The event, in conjunction with PAVS and Pembrokeshire County Council, will provide attendees with access to resources and discussions focused on end-of-life planning, bereavement support, and the services offered by the Future Care Planning department at the Paul Sartori Foundation.
There is also a guided walk and a craft area for creative expression.
The day is designed to educate individuals to make informed decisions about their end-of-life care.
On Friday, May 9, 2025, the foundation will host "The Dead Good Quiz," a fun and competitive event in the relaxed setting of Yr Hen Ysgol, Dinas Cross.
Participants can attend individually or as part of a team, enjoying a fun-filled quiz night that combines entertainment with meaningful discussion.
This event exemplifies the foundation's commitment to making end-of-life conversations more accessible and less daunting for the community.
These events have been instigated by the Future Care Planning department at Paul Sartori.
Mandy Jones, who works on the project in the community, said: "Having a future care plan in place means that you can take charge of what happens to you should you become seriously unwell and are unable to express your wishes.
"It also gives guidance to families and helps ease stress at a very difficult time.
"These community events aim to inform and empower people to have autonomy over their future health and wellbeing."

Owen Wolff's second-half goal helps Austin up unbeaten streak to six in 1-1 draw with Dallas

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Owen Wolff scored early in the second half to help Austin FC up its unbeaten streak to six with a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas on Saturday night. Dallas (7-11-8) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute and took it into halftime when defender Shaq Moore used an assist from Petar Musa to score for the third time this season and fourth in 91 career appearances. Musa's helper was his fifth of the campaign. Austin (9-8-8) pulled even in the 51st minute on Wolff's goal — his career-best third of the season. Defender Mikkel Desler collected his second assist and Osman Bukari notched his seventh on the equalizer. Brad Stuver had one save for Austin in the first matchup this season. Michael Collodi saved three shots in his third start for Dallas. Collodi had the only two saves in the first half. Dallas leads the all-time series 7-2-3. Texans' C.J. Stroud explains why he wore a Mariners hat amid a playoff race vs. the Astros

Houston Texans Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud made headlines for all the right reasons on Saturday afternoon en route to a 20-3 victory over the Carolina Panthers in his preseason debut. In the morning, he was all over the internet for the wrong reasons. While the Texans play in the AFC South, the Houston Astros call the American League West home, sharing the division with the Seattle Mariners. Right now, Seattle is hot and inching closer to leapfrogging the Astros for the division lead heading into September. So, naturally, fans were upset that their city's franchise quarterback donned a Seattle Mariners cap when he entered the stadium on Saturday morning. Twitter was losing its mind seeing the quarterback who already grew up a Dodgers fan wearing a rival's hat. Multiple fans commented on the post, telling Houston to "trade him" away because of the logo. Even the Mariners got in on the conversation, telling Stroud he looked good in the colors. But Stroud laughed at the outcry from fans that there was no rooting interest behind the hat and that the move was merely for style purposes with the rest of his outfit. 'I love hats, I wear hats all the time,' Stroud said with a chuckle. 'It's all about the swag, baby. I'm just kidding.' No, Texans fans, Stroud is rooting for the AL West rivals to move into first place. He mentioned that he pulls for both the Astros and Dodgers and also owns a hat from "probably even team," which backs up the fashion statement theory. Fans probably wouldn't have cared so much if the Astros hadn't just lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night while the Mariners secured a win over the New York Mets. But the hat proved to be a bad omen out at Citi Field and a positive sign for the hometown team. Seattle fell in Queens 3-1. Meanwhile, the Astros gained an entire game in the division with a 5-4 victory over the Orioles. As for Stroud's afternoon? He finished 6-of-8 passing for 44 yards and a touchdown pass to Nico Collins in the first quarter before resting after the first quarter.
