Shafaq News/ The National Resolve (Al-Hasm Al-Watani) and Nineveh For Its People (Ninawa Li Ahliha) coalitions will contest the upcoming parliamentary elections on two separate lists, an Iraqi lawmaker said on Friday.
MP Nayef Al-Shammari told Shafaq News that the decision followed a meeting attended by senior figures from both groups, including Defense Minister Thabit Al-Abbasi, the leader of National Resolve, and former Nineveh Governor Najm Al-Jubouri, who heads Nineveh For Its People.
Nineveh For Its People confirmed the meeting in a statement, revealing that discussions focused on political developments, strengthening national partnership, and promoting reforms.
The Iraqi Cabinet has set November 11, 2025, as the date for the next parliamentary elections, despite ongoing disputes over the Election Law.

Tehran claims spy operation targeting Israeli nuclear sites
Shafaq News/ Iran's intelligence services have reportedly obtained a large cache of sensitive Israeli documents, including files allegedly linked to nuclear and defense infrastructure, according to state broadcaster IRIB on Saturday. The report claimed that thousands of documents—comprising written files, images, and videos—were extracted from Israeli territory during a covert operation carried out 'some time ago.' Iranian officials did not provide evidence to support the allegations, but emphasized that the volume of material was 'so extensive that the process of reviewing and verifying their contents is still ongoing.' IRIB attributed the operation to Iran's intelligence apparatus and linked it to the May arrest of two Israeli citizens, Roy Mizrahi and Almog Atias, both 24 and residents of Nesher near Haifa. According to Israeli authorities, the two were detained on suspicion of collecting intelligence on behalf of Iran following a joint investigation by the Shin Bet and Israel Police's Lahav 433 unit. Israeli officials have not directly responded to the Iranian claims regarding the intelligence haul. However, at the time of the arrests, security authorities described the case as part of 'a series of recent incidents' involving efforts by Iranian intelligence services to recruit Israeli citizens for espionage activities, the Times of Israel reported. Tensions between Israel and Iran have long been marked by mutual hostility, with both countries accusing each other of conducting covert operations ranging from cyberattacks to assassinations. In recent months, Israeli authorities have announced multiple arrests of citizens suspected of spying for Iranian intelligence, often in exchange for money—highlighting Tehran's expanding efforts to infiltrate Israeli society through espionage networks.

PM Al-Sudani: Iraq ready to export 80 local products
Shafaq News/ On Sunday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani announced that about 80 locally manufactured products are now ready for export, highlighting Iraq's expanding role as a regional economic hub. Speaking to tribal leaders during Eid al-Adha celebrations, Al-Sudani emphasized a renewed focus on improving management across various sectors, stressing that ongoing economic reforms aim to reduce Iraq's dependence on oil and accelerate efforts toward diversification. Al-Sudani then outlined Iraq's ambitions through the Development Road project, describing it as a 'transformative initiative' designed to position the country as a key transit route in global trade. The project, he added, seeks to build a 'new Iraq' by enhancing economic connectivity while maintaining an independent political stance on regional and international affairs. In April 2024, Iraq joined Turkiye, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar in signing a four-party agreement to advance the Development Road. This initiative aims to stimulate economic growth, boosting regional cooperation by improving trade flows, simplifying cargo movement, and establishing a competitive transport corridor linking East and West. With an estimated investment of $17 billion, the project is expected to create around 100,000 jobs in its initial phase, with employment rising to as many as one million once fully completed.

Israeli strike on Southern Lebanon: Casualties reported
Shafaq News/ On Sunday, an Israeli drone strike targeted the village of al-Shuhabiyah in southern Lebanon, resulting in one death and several people wounded, local media reported. Emergency crews were dispatched to the site and began evacuating the injured. Initial reports indicate that the strike hit civilians involved in construction and excavation work near a residential property. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of those affected. Earlier, Israel launched around 20 drone and fighter jet strikes on the Southern suburb of Beirut(Dahieh area), alleging the sites were used for manufacturing and storing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Tensions have remained high in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire brokered in November 2024. The Lebanese Health Ministry has reported more than 400 deaths and over 3,300 documented violations of the truce. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has repeatedly warned that ongoing breaches of the agreement risk triggering a wider escalation.
