Dubai Culture and Dubai Municipality Partner to Transform Public Spaces into Artistic Landmarks
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Municipality to enrich Dubai's visual identity and enhance artistic experiences in public spaces and residential neighbourhoods. This aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to achieve sustainable urban development centred around people. The agreement reflects Dubai Culture's social and cultural responsibilities to elevate the quality of life in the emirate and reinforce its position as a global destination for living, working, and leisure, as well as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.The MoU underscores the shared commitment of Dubai Culture and Dubai Municipality to expanding cooperation, strengthening communication channels, and exchanging best practices and experiences in identifying suitable locations for displaying artworks and artistic installations. This initiative will contribute to transforming Dubai into an open-air global art gallery accessible to all. Under the agreement, Dubai Culture will determine the number of artworks and installations to be implemented annually within a set timeframe, aligning with the city's beautification plan. Meanwhile, Dubai Municipality will be responsible for selecting proposed showcasing sites and coordinating with government and private entities to obtain the necessary approvals and permits for executing public art projects.Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, affirmed the importance of the partnership between Dubai Culture and Dubai Municipality in transforming Dubai's streets and public squares into an open art museum, saying: 'Through our Public Art Strategy, we seek to foster a culture of innovation, support Dubai's creative economy, empower artists by expanding their presence in the local art scene, and encourage them to contribute to greater artistic appreciation in the emirate. These spaces will be enriched with distinctive artworks that enhance the local art scene and reflect the emirate's unique creative identity.' Badri also commended Dubai Municipality for its efforts in supporting the Dubai Public Art Strategy and raising the city's appeal through various projects across Dubai's streets and residential areas.His Excellency Eng. The Artist Leader Programme Inspires Young Performers Find Their Voice
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in collaboration with Project You, is launching 'The Artist Leader' programme to nurture emerging performers, engage school students, and inspire them to explore the world of interactive theatre. This initiative offers enriching experiences designed to build confidence, enhance performance skills, and foster leadership. It reflects Dubai Culture's ongoing commitment to empower the next generation, support the cultural and creative industries, and contribute to Dubai's vision of becoming a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent. Running from 24 April to 31 May at Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, the programme includes workshops and training sessions introducing participants to the key components of immersive theatre, including spatial dynamics, audience interaction, and the guiding role of a facilitator. Along the way, they'll delve into storytelling, character creation, and the use of props and costumes. The experience also encourages them to see performance as a platform for meaningful dialogue, using the medium to address real-world issues in imaginative and impactful ways. Led by a team of experts, the sessions, held every Thursday and Saturday, equip attendees with practical techniques such as breathing control, voice projection, character building, scene creation, and improvisation. Training also focuses on essential life competencies, including self-expression, time management, communication, and problem-solving. Dubai Culture Launches Immersive Interactive Experiences Around ‘Resonance'
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced a public programme accompanying the public art installation Resonance, created in collaboration with the Alserkal Arts Foundation in the Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood. This initiative falls under the Authority's Dubai Public Art Strategy, which aims to transform the emirate into a global open-air art gallery, while reinforcing its leadership on the international cultural for 26 April, the event offers a unique opportunity to explore the aesthetic dimensions of artwork by graphic designer Maryam Namvar and architect Neda Salmanpour. It also highlights the area's distinctive architecture and immersive art installations, which enrich the local creative agenda features a panel discussion titled 'Perception Reimagined: Sound and Place,' moderated by curator Munira Al Sayegh. Emirati sound artist Safeya Al Blooshi will share her insights on experimental field recordings to examine the relationship between our environment and sound and how acoustic characteristics define a place. Meanwhile, Maryam Namvar and Neda Salmanpour will discuss their experience creating Resonance, a work of art composed of three suspended metal panels that mirror the visual and auditory aspects of the district.
