Former Nokia CEO joining Finnish quantum company's board

Yahoo12 hours ago
STOCKHOLM (Reuters) -Former Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark will join Finnish quantum computing company QMill as an investor and a board member, the company said on Wednesday.
Lundmark stepped down from the top job at Nokia earlier this year after being appointed as CEO in 2020, and is credited with turning around the telecom gear maker.
Antti Vasara, former head of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and a former Nokia executive, will also join QMill as chair of the board.
Espoo, Finland-based QMill, is a quantum-algorithm company, which started operations last year, and has raised seed funding from Antler, Maki.vc and Kvanted.
Quantum computing is emerging as a promising sector where many startups are working alongside tech companies such as Microsoft and Nvidia to build functional computers to solve problems that would take classical computers thousands of years.

Nitrogen Unveils AI Meeting Center, Delivers Free Upgrades to Advisors Using Investment Research & Proposal Generation Products

AUBURN, Calif., August 20, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nitrogen, the leading developer of integrated risk tolerance, proposal generation, investment research, and planning software for advisors, today announced the availability of its Q3 2025 product release. During the launch event, Nitrogen showcased AI Meeting Center along with significant upgrades to Firm Controls, Risk Center, Planning Center, and Research Center—continuing its mission to equip advisors with the tools they need to deliver personalized advice at scale. "Our mission is to empower the world to invest fearlessly, and that means building technology that removes friction, speeds up workflows, and strengthens client relationships," said Justin Boatman, Chief Product Officer at Nitrogen. "This release is packed with advisor feedback brought to life, from making meetings more efficient with AI Meeting Center to giving firms deeper visibility into their holdings, risk alignment, and portfolio optimization." Highlights from the Q3 2025 Product Launch AI Meeting Center – A purpose-built, compliant meeting assistant that automatically generates curated, categorized, and editable meeting notes without storing transcripts or recordings. Integrated with Zoom, Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Redtail (with Wealthbox coming soon), AI Meeting Center is available at no additional cost for Nitrogen Complete users and as an add-on for other plans. This tool helps advisors save time, reduce administrative burden, and maintain compliance during client meetings. Firm Controls – Firm Controls redefines firm-wide oversight by seamlessly integrating advisor-defined households from Risk Center into a unified, turnkey dashboard. Designed to eliminate onboarding friction and minimize data inconsistencies, this evolution turns a historically manual implementation process into a fully automated, intelligent integration. Risk Center – Known for its risk alignment and proposal tools, Risk Center now includes: Asset Class Drill-Downs to identify the holdings driving exposure in each category. Smart Template Matching for file imports, letting AI detect and map formats automatically, no template selection required. Planning Center – The platform's financial planning tool now offers a more flexible interface with collapsible timeline events, making it easier to model client goals and retirement income streams. Research Center – Nitrogen's investment analytics and research hub now offers two major enhancements designed to help advisors evaluate and optimize portfolios more efficiently: Allocation Optimizer calculates the most efficient portfolio allocations to meet a client's target Risk Number. Advisors can set parameters, compare solutions, and implement changes instantly and all within the same workspace. Sandbox to test adjustments directly within the Stats tab without overriding existing data or leaving the page. Advisors can experiment with changes to an existing Portfolio or Model in real time, making Sandbox a popular tool for fine-tuning portfolio attributes before committing to a proposal. These updates come at a time when wealth management firms are under pressure to deliver more personalized advice, prove their value to clients, and navigate increasing regulatory scrutiny. AI Meeting Center addresses the industry-wide challenge of meeting administration, freeing up advisor time for higher-value client interactions. Expanded oversight tools like the Holdings Dashboard respond to firms' need for more transparency and control over portfolio risk. "Technology that's built for advisors, not retrofitted from other industries, can directly impact client trust, growth, and retention," Boatman added. "We believe these capabilities will become table stakes for leading advisory firms in the next few years." The Q3 2025 release is available now. Newell Brands Passes Through 5% Yield Mark

In trading on Wednesday, shares of Newell Brands were yielding above the 5% mark based on its quarterly dividend (annualized to $0.28), with the stock changing hands as low as $5.55 on the day. Dividends are particularly important for investors to consider, because historically speaking dividends have provided a considerable share of the stock market's total return. To illustrate, suppose for example you purchased shares of the iShares Russell 3000 ETF (IWV) back on 5/31/2000 — you would have paid $78.27 per share. Fast forward to 5/31/2012 and each share was worth $77.79 on that date, a loss of $0.48 or 0.6% decrease over twelve years. But now consider that you collected a whopping $10.77 per share in dividends over the same period, increasing your return to 13.15%. Even with dividends reinvested, that only amounts to an average annual total return of about 1.0%; so by comparison collecting a yield above 5% would appear considerably attractive if that yield is sustainable. Newell Brands is a member of the Russell 3000, giving it special status as one of the largest 3000 companies on the U.S. stock markets. 10 Stocks Where Yields Got More Juicy » In general, dividend amounts are not always predictable and tend to follow the ups and downs of profitability at each company. In the case of Newell Brands, looking at the history chart for NWL below can help in judging whether the most recent dividend is likely to continue, and in turn whether it is a reasonable expectation to expect a 5% annual Report: Top 8%+ Dividends (paid monthly)

Even Americans Can Drive the 789-HP Opel Corsa GSE in the Virtual World

The Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo has been revealed ahead of its debut at the IAA auto show in Munich in September. The concept features a pair of electric motors that generate a combined 789 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, with a zero-to-62-mph time of 2.0 seconds. The Corsa GSE previews future electric performance models from the German brand and will be playable in the Gran Turismo video game this fall. SUVs have a commanding presence in the U.S. market, and while they are gaining ground in Europe, the hatchback is still clinging to its position atop the transportation hierarchy in the Old World. Europe's longtime obsession with city cars has birthed a rich list of hot hatches, offering performance and driving engagement to the masses. Now Opel, a German brand formerly owned by General Motors and now part of the vast Stellantis stable, has revealed the eye-catching Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, a concept that previews how the hot hatch could transform in the electric future. A Concept You Can Drive, At Least Virtually As the latter part of the name suggests, this concept has been designed for the Gran Turismo video game and will join the game's lineup of playable vehicles this fall. The concept has also been shown under the British brand Vauxhall, with Opel and Vauxhall having shared models for over 20 years. Stellantis The Corsa GSE's electric powertrain produces 789 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque from a pair of electric motors, with one on each axle for all-wheel drive. The GSE is fitted with a single-speed transmission and a boost function, which injects an extra 79 hp for up to four seconds. After being used, the boost function can be recharged in four 20-second segments. Opel says the Corsa GSE tips the scales at just 2579 pounds, thanks to the use of lightweight materials and the fact that the battery only measures 82 kWh. With that much power and a relatively low weight, the Corsa GSE is incredibly quick, zipping from zero to 62 mph in 2.0 seconds and topping out at 199 mph. Stellantis Opel also packed the Corsa GSE with active aerodynamics, with the rear diffuser and spoiler adjusting their angles of attack for either increasing downforce when braking and turning or reducing drag when accelerating. The sleek disc-like wheels, which sport a three-spoke design, also help minimize turbulence in the wheel arches. Muscular, Rally-Inspired Styling The Corsa GSE oozes performance with its brawny bodywork and vibrant yellow accents. Although it has a similar footprint to the standard Corsa, a subcompact hatchback measuring 159.8 inches from nose to tail, the concept is around five inches longer and is significantly wider and lower, at 73.6 inches and 55.1 inches, respectively. Within those diminutive dimensions, the Corsa GSE packs a lot of attitude. The bodywork is covered in sharp creases and the bulging fenders make the hatchback look planted. Up front, a slim black trim piece, which Opel calls the "Vizor," houses thin LED headlights and an illuminated badge. Vertical LED light strips above and below the Opel logo signal the center of the car, a motif that appears again at the rear. Stellantis The black front wheel arches are fashioned from Bcomp, which Opel says is a lightweight, strong material made from flax that is similar to carbon fiber but more environmentally friendly. The Corsa GSE sits on a staggered setup, with 21-inch front wheels and 22-inch rear wheels, both attached via Bilstein pushrod suspension. The cabin is simple, with a mostly blank white dashboard and an octagonal steering wheel. Key information is communicated via a head-up display, and the driver's seat features a six-point harness. Opel says the car serves as a preview for upcoming GSE performance models, and while we will likely never see anything like the Corsa GSE concept in the United States, we're glad to see that Opel is brainstorming how to keep the hot hatchback alive and well as Europe continues its push towards electrification.
