What happened in the previous episode of When Hope Calls?
In "Bringing to Light," last week's Season 2 penultimate episode of When Hope Calls, when Sam's (Jon McLaren) claim was denied after an existing claim is unearthed, Nora (Cindy Busby) and Mountie Fletcher (Christopher Russell) headed to Franklin to investigate the dubious claim. They discovered that the claimant, Rufus Shepherd, is actually a German Shepherd named Rufus!
Hannah (Sarah Fisher) attempted to get a line of credit for the ranch, but learned of a stipulation the bank had written into the contract regarding Wyatt (Nick Bateman) as foreman. This caused Hannah some concern until she was able to convince Wyatt to sign a year long contract guaranteeing he'll stay on as foreman.
Lillian (Morgan Kohan) sent help to the orphanage in the form of caretaker Miss Ainsworth (Sarah Orenstein), but her methods didn't mesh well with the children. After one of the kids appeared to be sick and spent time in the care of Nurse Maggie (and her magical lollipops), the other kids then pretended to be sick so they could go to Maggie's and be far away from Miss Ainsworth.
After cattle began to disappear in record numbers from more than one farmer's lands, Lucie Clay (Kalinka Petrie) and Wyatt (Nick Bateman) discovered that both have had cattle go missing on their respective ranches, and the loss of cattle isn't from wolves or cougars, but from poachers. And Sam, who was down in the dumps over having his land claim denied, had renewed vigor when he learned that Nora was successful in getting his claim approved. Mountie Fletcher adopted Rufus the German Shepherd as his new "deputy".

What happens in this week's episode of When Hope Calls?
In "Season of Change," the Season 2 finale of When Hope Calls, the town gets an opportunity to celebrate one of their own. While Maggie and Sam are trying to keep the news of his good fortune on the down-low, it turns out pretty much everyone in the town is in on the news. Ronnie (Neil Crone), always looking to make money, finds an opportunity to do so with Sam's newfound fortune. Later, the town comes together to celebrate while love blooms, but for whom exactly? The Mounties and the ranchers team up to protect the rancher's land from poachers and on of their own may be put in mortal danger. Trevor Donovan and Rob Stewart appear as guest stars in the finale.
Will there be a Season 3 of When Hope Calls?
At the time of this writing, there has been no word from Great American Family if there will be a third season. We certainly hope that they'll make an announcement soon and that we won't have to wait another six years for the next season!

Former Race Across the World contestant dies in crash
Former Race Across the World contestant Sam Gardiner has died after a crash. The 24-year-old had been driving on the A34 near Manchester on Monday night when his car left the road and rolled before landing on its side, Greater Manchester Police said. He was the only person in the vehicle and was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries on Thursday, his family said in a recent statement. The landscape gardener appeared with his mother Jo as they travelled across South America in the second series of the BBC show, which aired in 2020. They were unable to compete in the final leg after running out of money, but Sam described it as a "life-changing" experience. While filming for the BBC series, Sam said: "Mum and I are very close - we often think or say the same things. "She has travelled a lot in her life, so I think it would be fun to do it with her." In a statement issued by a family member, Sam's parents Jo and Andrew said they were "devastated". "Sam left us far too soon, and while words will never fully capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we hold on to the memories that made him so special," they added. Sam's parents said he was "adored by his family" and described him as "loyal, funny and fiercely protective". They added the Race Across the World experience "opened Sam's eyes to the wonder of adventure". Sam's uncle Jonny Gray told the BBC: "What you saw was what you got. Sam loved gardening, animals and doing physical activity." Mr Gray said his sister Jo and Sam had a "special relationship" and were an "enormous hit on the show", adding: "The public really loved them." Emon Choudhury, who won the second series with his nephew Jamiul, posted on social media that Sam was "pure sunshine in human form" whose "kindness was a beacon for anyone lucky enough to cross his path". He added that Sam and his mother "showed us what it truly means to live fully, love fiercely, and embrace every moment with an open heart". In a statement, a Race Across the World spokeswoman said: "Everyone who worked with him and indeed everyone who watched Sam could see just how precious and transformative the trip was for both him and his mum, Jo. "Sam embraced the seven-week trip with an energy, love and a determination that saw the pair enjoy adventures across Mexico to Argentina making audiences fall in love with them and their special bond as a result. "Since filming, both Sam and Jo have been an integral part of the Race Across the World cast family and on behalf of us all from the BBC, production and the rest of the cast, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to his parents, Andrew and Jo; his brothers, William and Charlie; his step mum Justine; his family and friends." Sam had been recently working on the west coast of Scotland and travelled down to Stockport in Greater Manchester to attend a family birthday celebration earlier this week, according to his uncle. Guitarist , known for his work with The McCoy's and hit song 'Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo,' died in Ormond Beach Florida on Monday, May 26. Shooting to fame at just 17 years old when The McCoy's dropped 'Hang On Sloopy" in 1965, the legendary rocker collected a Grammy Award for producing 'Weird Al ' Yankovic's debut album over his decades long career. Derringer worked with several other iconic artists in various capacities serving as a producer for Cyndi Lauper, rocked the solo on 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' by Bonnie Tyler, and even did session work for Steely Dan. Fellow artist and alleged caretaker Tony Wilson made the heartbreaking announcement on Facebook the morning after his passing."To my rocking best friend Rick Derringer it was my pleasure to be with your caretaker was a natural thing..." Derringer had a remarkable "behind the scenes" resume. He had a hand in several beloved albums playing guitar with artists spanning genres from Barbera Streisand to Kiss. Derringer even left a mark on the World Wrestling Federation, producing their 'The Wrestling Album,' comprised of wrestler's theme songs that he also happened to work on. In fact, his hit "Real American" served as Hulk Hogan's iconic song. Many artists flooded social media with adoring memories of the late artist amid the news of his passing. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Cyndi Lauper recalled some of the incredible work they did together: "He was one of the great guitarists," she stated. "I co-wrote with him on my Blue Angel album. And we did wrestling music together which was so much fun. He played for me when I sang with Patti LaBelle on her special. He was in the band when I toured for True Colors in 86. And he's is also in the live at Le Zénith Paris video. We shared a lot of special moments together. Rest easy my friend." Beatles legend Ringo Starr also paid a beautiful homage to his fallen friend. "God bless Rick Derringer," he wrote on Instagram. "It was great playing with him in the All Starrs. I send peace and love to his family." And the love for Derringer doesn't stop there. In a recent Facebook post, Wilson noted his intention to honor the late artist on his birthday, August 5th, with a tribute show in Florida. Nothing has officially been scheduled as of yet.
