Jaishankar, Austrian FM call for zero tolerance towards terrorism, oppose nuclear blackmail
New Delhi [India], May 14 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday held talks with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to zero tolerance for terrorism and strongly opposed any form of nuclear blackmail. Jaishankar also congratulated Meinl-Reisinger on her appointment.
In a post on X, he said, 'Appreciated the conversation today with Austrian FM Beate Meinl-Reisinger. Congratulated on her appointment. Agreed on zero tolerance of terrorism and firm opposition to nuclear blackmail. Discussed our excellent bilateral ties and the Ukraine conflict.'

Diplomatic relations between India and Austria were established on November 10, 1949, and the two countries continue to maintain strong bilateral engagement.
The conversation on terrorism was a reference to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Indian response through Operation Sindoor.
The talks came in the backdrop of the recent cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan. Addressing this development, US Department of State Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stressed the need for continued direct communication between New Delhi and Islamabad.'
I can only reiterate that we welcome the ceasefire reached between India and Pakistan this weekend. We commend both Prime Ministers for choosing the path of peace. We also want to encourage direct communication between the parties,' Pigott said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump claimed credit for brokering the ceasefire. Speaking at the US-Saudi Investment Forum, Trump said he leveraged trade ties to help stop the escalation.
'Just days ago, my administration brokered a historic cease-fire to stop the escalating violence between India and Pakistan, and I used trade to a large extent to do it. I said, fellas, come on, let's make a deal, let's do some trading, let's not trade nuclear missiles, let's trade the things that you make so beautifully, and they both have very powerful leaders, very strong leaders, smart leaders, and it all stopped,' Trump said. NDRI develops easy to digest goat milk cheese, trays using apricot kernels from Ladakh
ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) in Karnal has introduced easily digestible goat milk cottage cheese, joha rice-based kheer and prepared biodegradable trays using apricot kernel. The newly developed products by the dairy institute were introduced before the students, public and the media during an event organised at the campus to mark World Milk Day on Sunday. Officials said that the programme titled as 'Let's Celebrate the Power of Dairy', was chaired by ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur director JP Mishra and also attended by ICAR-NDRI director and vice-chancellor Dheer Singh and joint director (academics) AK Singh, joint director (research) Rajan Sharma and others. Sharing details about the products, the director said that non-bovine milk is a niche area in which NDRI has been working for the last several years. 'NDRI has developed various value-added products from goat and camel milk. Products like goat milk cottage cheese, which is easily digestible and possesses antioxidant and antibacterial properties, has been developed along with joha rice-based kheer,' he said. Joha rice, Singh said, is an aromatic rice cultivated in Assam and is known for its low glycaemic index and rich in several antioxidants, flavonoids, and phenolics. The milk products, NDRI scientists said, will be available at the milk parlour after the formalities are completed in the next two months. The director further said that the institute scientists have also prepared biodegradable trays using apricot kernels, which is considered 100% waste. 'Apricot kernel based biodegradable packaging can be used for the packaging of dairy products such as sweets. The NDRI is also supporting prospective entrepreneurs by nurturing their ideas,' he added. Scientists said that they have started exploring using these trays made of apricot kernel from the Ladakh region, to replace plastic-based trays used in pinni packs. About the milk productivity and its economies, Singh said that Indian dairy sector involves about 450 million small and marginal farmers and the contribution of dairy and animal husbandry sector to India's GDP is 4.5% and the contribution of dairy sector to agriculture sector is 24%, which is valued around ₹10 Lakh crore and it is highest in the world. He further emphasised that ICAR-NDRI supported the nation's white revolution by producing quality germ plasm, elite breeds, skilled manpower and valuable insights and timely inputs. 'Due to these collective efforts, India has been reigning as the largest milk producer of the World since 1998. Currently, the annual milk production in India is 239 million metric tonnes (MMT) and per capita milk availability is 471 gallons per day. The per capita availability of milk in India is higher than the world's average per capita availability i.e. 322 gallons per day,' he added.

'Terror has a price': CDS Gen Chauhan blasts Pak duplicity on global stage

According to high-level sources present at the event, India's Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan sent an unambiguous message that New Delhi's patience with cross-border terrorism has reached its limit. Gen Chauhan, speaking in a closed-door session on regional security threats, made a forceful reference to India's recent Operation Sindoor—a precision military campaign targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and across the border. "This operation reflects a decisive shift in India's posture," sources said, quoting General Chauhan. "A new red line has been drawn. The era of strategic restraint in the face of terrorism is over." Sources say the Indian general stopped short of naming Pakistan directly but made clear references to its long-standing support for proxy terror elements. 'We have endured over two decades of proxy war. The toll on civilian lives, our soldiers, and our economy is unacceptable,' Chauhan reportedly said. 'Operation Sindoor was not just a tactical response, it was a strategic signal.' The comments came during concurrent sessions where Pakistan's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, took a more familiar route, calling for 'conflict resolution' over Kashmir and warning of the risks of escalation. In a panel discussion on crisis-management mechanisms, Mirza argued that the absence of sustained dialogue could lead to uncontrollable conflict. He reiterated Pakistan's longstanding position that the Kashmir issue must be resolved 'in accordance with UN resolutions and the will of the people.' However, Indian defence officials dismissed Mirza's remarks as 'predictable deflection,' pointing to Islamabad's continued patronage of terror outfits.
