Archaeologists in Egypt have discovered three New Kingdom tombs dating to more than 3,000 years ago. The burials were found within a cemetery now known as Dra Abu el-Naga, which is near modern-day Luxor (ancient Thebes).
The three deceased individuals, all men, each held important roles in ancient Egypt's temples and grain silos. So it's no surprise they were buried at the Dra Abu el-Naga cemetery, which is located near the Nile and is a necropolis for important non-royal people.
One of the tombs belongs to a man named "Amun-Em-Ipet" who served in a temple or estate that was dedicated to Amun, a god associated with ancient Thebes, Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a translated statement. The man lived during the 19th dynasty (circa 1295 to 1186 B.C.), a time when Egypt controlled an empire that stretched from Syria to Sudan.
The tomb contains a small courtyard, a hallway and a burial chamber. The surviving wall paintings depict banquets, funerary offerings and a funerary procession. At a later time, his tomb was re-occupied by other individuals and another hallway was built.
The two other tombs date to the early part of the 18th dynasty (circa 1550 to 1295 B.C.). One is of a man named Baki, who was a supervisor of grain silos. His tomb has a corridor-shaped courtyard that connects to a second courtyard, which in turn has an entrance that leads to an unfinished chapel with a burial shaft.
The other early 18th-dynasty tomb belongs to a man named "Es," who had a number of different titles that indicate he was a scribe and a supervisor in a temple of Amun. The tomb has an entrance hall, a small courtyard and a series of unfinished chambers along with a burial shaft.

The fact that all three tombs have courtyards is not unusual.
"Courtyards are common elements of the New Kingdom tombs of the non-royal Theban necropolis, and they are present throughout Dra Abu el-Naga," Katherine Slinger, a lecturer in Egyptian archaeology at the University of Manchester in the U.K. who was not involved with the excavation, told Live Science in an email.

"These courtyards had a ritual purpose, particularly during the funeral of the deceased and necropolis festivals," and were sometimes shared with adjacent tombs, Slinger said. "These newly discovered courtyards may contain evidence of this ritual activity," she noted.
Felix Arnold, an archaeologist with the German Archaeological Institute who was not involved in the excavation, told Live Science in an email that "courtyards are typical elements of New Kingdom tombs. The study of these exterior elements of tomb precincts tend to be neglected [and] their careful study will offer new insights."
A team made up entirely of Egyptian archaeologists discovered the tombs, the statement noted. Excavations of the site are ongoing, as is analysis of the tombs.

UK retailer Game is canceling some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, so you may want to check yours
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. UK retailer Game has announced the cancelation of some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders The reasoning is unclear, but it's likely the company doesn't have enough stock to fulfil all orders The retailer took to social media to encourage those affected to visit its support page If you're in the UK and got a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order from high street retailer Game, then you may want to check your emails. That's because the retailer, as reported by Eurogamer, has confirmed that it has canceled an unspecified number of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders. The reason why is unclear, but it's usually down to a retailer fulfilling more orders than it realistically has stock for. In a post on X / Twitter, the official Game account released a statement regarding the cancelations. "We're currently working hard to reinstate as many affected pre-orders as possible," the statement reads. "If your order was impacted, please know that we're doing everything we can and will be in touch with further updates and next steps." You can see the full post below. Game also encourages those who have experienced a pre-order cancelation to visit its customer support page. The cancelation of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders has been a surprisingly common occurrence recently. Over in the US, customers who pre-ordered the console at Walmart, Target and GameStop have reported cancelations on social media sites like Reddit. It isn't all doom and gloom as some retailers, including CostCo in the US and Smyths Toys in the UK, are currently confirming they will have launch day stock and - in the case of the latter - a midnight launch for the Nintendo Switch 2. If you have been affected by Game's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order cancelations, be sure to hit up the retailer's support page or visit our own how to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 guide advice on what to do next. Nintendo has updated its Switch 2 game compatibility page, identifying over 100 titles with 'start up issues' on the upcoming console Pokémon Legends: Z-A officially launches in October and will offer 'improved graphics and frame rates' on the Nintendo Switch 2 version The Nintendo Switch 2 will finally let players easily upload their screenshots and videos via the Switch app, and I couldn't be happier

iPhone 17 Air leak shows impossibly sturdy frame, but don't put your "bendgate" fears to bed just yet
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Rumored to be only 5.5mm thick, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air will be Apple's slimmest phone since the infamous iPhone 6, but can its reported titanium-aluminum frame help Apple avoid another "bendgate" disaster? Footage shared to X last week by reputable leaker "Majin Bu" claims to show a mock-up of the iPhone 17 Air being put through an impromptu bend test and passing with flying colors. Should it prove accurate, it's a clear indicator that Apple is taking durability seriously with its return to ultra-thin smartphones. While the iPhone 17 Air hasn't been officially announced yet, we've seen a boatload of rumors about it, including leaked images of the design. The dummy unit shown in the video certainly matches up to what we've seen so far, but can we expect the real deal to stand up to similar levels of punishment? Maybe we shouldn't put our "bendgate" fears to bed just yet. See also: Best Apple deals in May 2025 On Friday, Majin Bu posted a video on X showing a bend test with a dummy version of the iPhone 17 Air. Despite repeated attempts, the mock-up barely flinches, a polar opposite outcome to Apple's previous iPhone 6 Plus, which controversially folded with ease during Unbox Therapy's famous "bendgate" video released in 2014. Hopefully, this is an indicator that Apple has learned from its past mistakes with "bendgate," and devised a way to make the iPhone 17 Air significantly more durable than the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPad Pro M4 gives us reason to be optimistic, at least, since its ultra-thin chassis reportedly uses a new internal ribbing design that helps prevent bending. However, you might not want to get your hopes up just yet. Keep in mind, the "phone" in this video is not an actual iPhone 17 Air, or even a phone at all. It's a pre-production "dummy," meaning it's a model based on the actual phone, or at least appears to be. Since this isn't coming directly from Apple, we can't confirm how accurate the design or build quality of this mock-up is, regardless of how much it resembles previously leaked images of the iPhone 17 Air. That said, dummy units like this are sometimes solid through-and-through, designed to give third-party companies a better idea of the size, weight, or ergonomics of a device to aid with the design of accessories, like smartphone cases, well in advance of a product's release. This lump of metal may pass the bend test with ease, but the actual iPhone 17 Air that is expected to hit store shelves later this year? That's another story entirely. Even if this leaked video is an accurate representation of the iPhone 17 Air's resistance to bending, durability isn't the only concern surrounding this phone. Battery life could also take a hit due to the Air's ultra-thin chassis. There's simply less space for a large battery compared to something like the iPhone 17 Pro. That may be why Apple is rumored to be introducing an AI-powered battery optimization feature, which may be able to help compensate for a physically smaller battery in the iPhone 17 Air. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge may give us an idea of what to expect in terms of battery life. It features an ultra-thin design similar to the iPhone 17 Air, including a 3,900 mAh battery, which is notably smaller than the 4,900 mAh battery in the S25 Plus. It's possible we could see a similar reduction in battery size from the iPhone 17 or 17 Pro compared to the iPhone 17 Air. We're keeping a close eye on all of the latest rumors and updates surrounding the iPhone 17, iOS 26 (formerly iOS 19), and WWDC 2025, so stay tuned for more info. iPhone 17 Air: Rumors are thick on the thinnest iPhone ever WWDC 2025 preview: iOS 26, Apple's video game plans, Apple Intelligence, Mac Pro M4 Ultra What separates a $1,000 iPhone from a $3,500 one? The Bold and the Beautiful recap for May 22, 2025: Ridge under pressure
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Ridge finds himself struck in the middle between Brooke and Taylor in The Bold and the Beautiful recap for May 22, 2025. More The Bold and the Beautiful The Bold and the Beautiful recap for May 21, 2025The Bold and the Beautiful recap for May 20, 2025The Bold and the Beautiful recap for May 19, 2025The Bold and the Beautiful recap for May 16, 2025 We begin today at Forrester Creations, where Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) is still looking at photos from the fashion show when Taylor (Rebecca Budig) arrives. Brooke says the press from the show has been amazing, but Taylor shuts down any thought that it means more than business. Katie (Heather Tom) tells Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) that what they share is magical, and the whole audience was reacting to him and Brooke on the runway. They were always meant to be together. Daphne (Murielle Hilaire) is sniffing fragrances and thinking about Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). Zende (Delon De Metz) comes in and says she must be thinking about something good, knowing she was thinking about Carter. He knows she loves Carter. Hope (Annika Noelle) tells Carter that she loves him and she doesn't want him to ever doubt it. Daphne wants to know why Hope was allowed back at the company and can't understand why she was welcomed back after what she did. The company and Carter are better off without Hope. Hope can only imagine what Carter was thinking when he overheard what he heard. Carter says she can lean on him while she's going through this. Whatever she needs, he can take it. He hugs her. Katie gets a message about Brooke's magazine cover. Ridge looks at her on the cover, dressed in the showstopper, and he thinks back to the runway. He brushes it off. Katie knows he's committed to Taylor, but she wants him to be honest about missing Brooke. Taylor admits the show was a huge success for the whole company, and she says Brooke was a big part of that. Brooke says the moment she and Ridge shared on the runway caught everyone's attention. Taylor agrees, but she says it was just good for the company. It doesn't go beyond that. Katie says she can't imagine seeing Brooke in the Portofino gown didn't have an impact on him, but he says it's different because he's with Taylor. He wants to be a better man, so he wants his word to mean something. He's with Taylor and that's where he wants to be. Taylor admits that in the past, she would have been concerned or insecure, but Ridge is with her because he wants to be, and he's made his choice. Brooke asks if she thought their moment on the runway meant anything, and Taylor says it was a moment for the business. It won't change his love for her. Zende never imagined Daphne would get so attached, and she was surprised herself. She can't understand why Steffy would trust Hope, but she thinks Hope wants to be somewhere else. She's still convinced that Hope's future is with someone else and Daphne's future is with Carter. Hope suggests that they leave everything in the past and move forward. Carter agrees. Hope says they have a strong foundation, and they can build a future together. He vows to never let her down again. Later, Carter invites Daphne into his apartment, and she says she heard that Hope is back at Forrester. She knows he feels bad about Hope being punished and how he thought it wasn't fair, and she asks if the reason he's working from home is that there's tension between them. He admits he just saw Hope, leading Daphne to say he'll find love again. He says he has, and Daphne fully expects him to say it's her. Hope arrives at the design office and Brooke can see she's excited. But Hope can tell something is wrong with her mother. Brooke says Taylor told her she's confident in her relationship with Ridge. Ridge tells Katie that he hurt Taylor a lot in the past, and he'll always love Brooke, but he has to be true to her. Katie presses him and says he can fight all he wants, but he's just putting off the 'inevitable.' Katie moves to leave, and she runs into Taylor, who guesses (correctly) that Katie was trying to get Ridge to get back with Brooke. Daphne says that if someone told her that she'd be in LA feeling the way she feels about Carter, she'd think they were crazy. She's never felt that way about anyone. Falling for Carter was never part of the plan. Daphne says she needs to let herself go and take a leap of faith, and she has never felt vulnerable before. Carter says it can be scary because no one wants to get their heart broken, or be the one to break it. She reveals she's fallen in love with him, which is not what Carter was expecting to hear. He tells her it has been a very confusing time for him, but he's found love with Hope. He doesn't want to hurt her, but he's with Hope again. Brooke says she felt so much about her connection with Ridge on the runway. It felt so intimate despite being in the middle of an audience. She thought for sure it meant they would be together. Hope knows it has been difficult for her without Ridge. Brooke admits that Ridge has always been her heart, and she's always followed her heart. She has to believe that they will be together. Taylor isn't surprised that Katie would be there advocating for Brooke. The Logans are loyal, and Ridge agrees. Taylor says she saw Brooke to tell her how impressed she was with the runway, which created an unforgettable moment. It was an incredible day for the company, and she was a huge part of it. Ridge praises her for being a big enough person to admit that, but Taylor adds that she warned Brooke that it was just a moment. As she leans in for a kiss, she tells Ridge that this is their moment, and their chapter. But as he holds her, his expression reveals he's questioning everything.
