Partial solar eclipse will not be visible from Oman

Observer29-03-2025

Muscat: The world will witness a partial solar eclipse as a result of the moon passing between the Earth and the sun. However, it does not completely block the sun's disc, but only covers part of it, making the sun appear as if part of it is missing or cut off.
This phenomenon can be seen from Europe, North Asia, northwest Africa, a large part of North America, South America, the Atlantic Ocean, and the North Pole.
The timing of the eclipse will coincide with the conjunction of the crescent moon of Shawwal 1446 AH.
However, it will not be visible from the Sultanate of Oman due to its geographical location and the timing of the event.
Seen from outside the atmosphere of the earth, the sun appears basically as a disc whose size can be quantified by the angular distance between the visible edge of the disc and its center.
They are called Sun Discs because it is thought that they were made to look like the sun. Their circular shape shows how the sun is seen in the sky, and the use of gold represents the colour of the sun. A lot of Sun Discs are decorated with crosses, circles, or lines, coming from the centre.
The moon's disc will cover about 94 percent of the sun's disk at the peak of the eclipse.
