
Certificates of appreciation awarded to 420,000 Hajj Mission participants
MAKKAH — The Supreme Hajj Committee has extended its gratitude to more than 420,000 men and women, who contributed to serving pilgrims during the 1446 AH Hajj season by issuing digital certificates of appreciation through the Tawakkalna app.
Secretary General of the Supreme Hajj Committee Khalid Al-Saykhan said that a total of 420,070 participants in the Hajj mission were recognized through the Tasreeh platform, developed by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and supervised by the committee's secretariat.
Al-Saykhan emphasized that the initiative reflects the success of the integrated system overseen by the Supreme Hajj Committee and highlights the importance of institutional cooperation during the Hajj season. He noted that this is the first initiative of its kind, using digital tools to acknowledge the dedication of Hajj workers.
The electronic certificates serve as a symbolic gesture, reinforcing a sense of pride and appreciation among those who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety, comfort, and spiritual fulfillment of the pilgrims.

Saudi Arabia mourns death of poet Saud Al-Qahtani after falling from mountain cliff in Oman
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Renowned Saudi poet Saud bin Maadi Al-Qahtani died on Monday after falling from a high cliff in Jabal Samhan in Mirbat in the Dhofar governorate of Oman. According to reports, he slipped from the slopes of the mountain while practicing his hobby of mountaineering. In a statement, the Saudi embassy in Muscat said that it followed up on the tragic incident involving the poet Al-Qahtani's fall from the heights of Jabal Samhan. The embassy stated that it is coordinating with the relevant Omani authorities to complete the procedures for repatriating his body to Saudi Arabia. The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority in Dhofar governorate revealed that it had investigated the incident with the participation of a number of citizens. It said that Saud Al-Qahtani had slipped from a high mountainous cliff. He was rushed to hospital after sustaining serious injuries where he succumbed to his injuries. The Saudi literary world mourned the demise of Al-Qahtani who was renowned for blending heritage and modernity in the Saudi and Gulf poetry. Many lovers of literature offered their condolences and paid Al-Qahtani rich tribute through social media, saying that his words touched countless hearts, and his legacy will live on through his poetry. Saud Al-Qahtani, who hails from Al-Baha, grew up in a mountainous environment rich in heritage and history. This environment played a significant role in shaping his literary character and refining his poetic talent. From childhood, he demonstrated a passion for words and a keen sense of expression, which enabled him to quickly advance in the world of poetry until he became one of the most prominent figures in the field of popular poetry in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Al-Qahtani was distinguished by his unique poetic style, combining authenticity and modernity. During his long literary career, he published more than 15 poetry collections. His themes varied between love, patriotism, and social issues. Al-Qahtani participated in numerous poetry evenings and festivals inside and outside the Kingdom, where he is known for his strong presence and ability to captivate audiences with his voice and poetic performance. His works have also been published in the Gulf and Arab newspapers and magazines. Al-Qahtani earned the title of "Poet of the South" for the imagery and meanings that his poems convey, inspired by the nature of southern Saudi Arabia and the sentiments of its people.

Over 60 million visit the Two Holy Mosques in Muharram
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque announced that a total of 60,245,635 people visited the Two Holy Mosques during the Islamic month of Muharram in 1447 AH, supported by an integrated network of services provided by the authority and participating agencies to serve pilgrims and worshippers. The authority reported that the Grand Mosque in Makkah welcomed 27,531,599 worshippers, including 47,823 who prayed in the Hateem area of Hijr Ismail. The number of Umrah performers reached 7,857,270. At the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, the total number of worshippers reached 21,576,200, including 1,122,368 who prayed in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah. Meanwhile, 2,110,375 people visited to greet the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two companions (may Allah be pleased with them). The authority stressed that it is committed to providing the highest quality services to ensure ease, comfort, and tranquility for worshippers, pilgrims, and visitors, in line with the directives of the Saudi leadership. It also reaffirmed its efforts to remove any obstacles and further enhance services at the Two Holy Mosques.

Preserving the Sacred: Saudi Arabia to Unveil Global Hajj Heritage Forum in Nov.
The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) is set to host a significant scholarly forum in November 2025, focusing on the rich history of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques. The initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to document and preserve one of Islam's most sacred rites and historical legacies. Scheduled for Jumada al-Awwal 1447H, the forum is titled 'Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques: History, Culture, Architecture – Toward Sustainable Knowledge and Digital Documentation.' Darah will organize this event in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Guests of God Service Program. These two entities play a crucial role in documenting the history of the holy sites. Objectives of the Forum The forum aims to advance academic research by uniting scholars from various disciplines, with participants including experts in history, architecture, Islamic arts, literature, geography, media, and digital studies. Together, they will explore new perspectives and methodologies for preserving and narrating the legacy of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques. A key goal of the forum is to highlight how emerging technologies can enhance documentation efforts and will provide immersive digital experiences that boost public awareness and foster global academic collaboration. The Foundation will announce accepted papers two weeks after final amendments.
