The Bucs need to do something to fix the secondary. While it has some positive pieces, it struggled in coverage last year, and as a result, it was one of the worst teams in coverage during the 2024 season.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has the Bucs listed as a potential landing spot for a veteran cornerback who could be had at a value compared to his previous $21 million deal. Bills free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas could be exactly what the Bucs need this offseason to fix the secondary.
Knox explains it, writing, "Between 2021 and 2023, Douglas snagged 14 interceptions. With the Bills in 2023, he allowed an opposing passer rating of only 58.6. The 29-year-old also has a history of quickly adapting to new defensive environments. He latched on with the Green Bay Packers in 2021 and immediately made a difference. He did the same after being traded to Buffalo in 2023. Douglas would be a strong fit for a team with legitimate playoff aspirations. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who ranked 29th in passing yards allowed last season, should be interested."
Adding a veteran to a young group with the like of Tykee Smith, Zyon McCollum, and a rookie always sounds like a sound move. Whether they can attract him away from the confines of the AFC East-dominating Buffalo Bills is another thing, but never doubt Jason Licht.

"I keep in touch through his position coach," coach Todd Bowles said, speaking of outside linebackers coach Larry Foote, who worked with Reddick with the Arizona Cardinals. Advertisement A contract dispute with the Eagles that turned into a trade to the Jets last season derailed Reddick's year. He held out until Week 8, and he only registered one sack in New York's final 10 games of the season. In a year where he finished with just one sack, Reddick called 2024 "very bizarre" and "weird." "[The] only thing on my mind is moving forward, looking to the future and looking forward to what I can bring to the team here," Reddick said during his introductory news conference with the Bucs. Many have likened Reddick's brief time in Tampa Bay to that of Randy Gregory last season, but that's silly. They're two entirely different situations, just like Reddick's time in New York last season. Advertisement The Bucs signed Gregory last season, but he didn't report to mandatory minicamp and missed training camp before being released in August. "With [Reddick's] situation, he's coming in with a big chip on his shoulder," Foote said. "He's upset, and we like it. He's pissed off. He wants to show this league that he's one of the premier pass rushers in this league, and we got a spot for him." At the time of his signing, Reddick issued a statement to Bucs fans at his press conference, and it went over well. "I'm excited. I'm excited to be here. I'm excited to be in front of the crowd. If anything, I can't wait to get in front of the Krewe," Reddick said. "I want to hear the cannon go off a lot this year. So, very excited. Hope the fans, hope the Krewe is excited as well. Looking forward to making this a great fit here." Advertisement Reddick never said that about New York, and Gregory never said it about Tampa Bay. So let's stop making comparisons. A few months ago, he seemed optimistic about staying in Cincy. They also tried to trade him. And now the player is threatening to sit out the season in protest. "I could see Buffalo pouncing to secure the veteran edge rusher it needs to take down Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs,'' he writes. "With offseason pickup Joey Bosa already injured, this move would help the Bills' pass rush add a stronger, healthier option. Hendrickson might not get the new contract of his dreams, but perhaps Bills general manager Brandon Beane could sell him on an improved chance to get to the Super Bowl." No Bills player last year had double-digit sacks, and only Gregory Rousseau had double-digit tackles-for-loss, with 16, to go along with a team-leading eight sacks. And Bosa is indeed hurt, though only until training camp. Is Hendrickson the addition needed to get the Bills over the hump that is the Chiefs remains to be seen, but he would be a major addition for a Bills team that is seen as the biggest contender to the Chiefs in the AFC. Hendrickson has star quality. He's got 70.5 sacks in the last four years, putting him in a class with T.J. Watt (73.5) and Myles Garrett (72). Advertisement So if the Bengals ever sell? Sure ...
