Here's A List Of Things That Lasted Longer Than Katy Perry's Trip To Space, Because The Whole Thing Took Literally 11 Minutes

Buzz Feed16-04-2025

By now, we all know that Katy Perry was in space on Monday. She and five other women were part of the Blue Origin expedition, which was organized in partnership with billionaire Jeff Bezos in some sort of weird, pseudo-feminist, late-stage capitalism nightmare scenario.
Anyway, despite some people feeling deep trepidation at Katy 's brave and arduous expedition, the whole thing lasted maybe 11 minutes. The crew was only in actual space for about 4 minutes, and I'm probably not the only person who is deeply underwhelmed, especially as the trip generated more CO2 emissions than one person creates in an entire lifetime.
To really demonstrate how ridiculous this stunt was, I've made a brief list of extremely short things that lasted longer than Katy's trip to space.
1. The 'Mission: Space' ride at EPCOT (15 mins including pre-show)
2. The ' All Too Well ' short film by Taylor Swift (14 mins 55 seconds)
3. The fastest spin cycle on a washing machine (20 mins)
4. Half an episode of 'SpongeBob SquarePants' (12 mins)
5. Preheating an oven (15 mins, feels like an hour)
6. The shelf life of an avocado (barely more than 11 mins)
7. Louis XIX's reign as King of France (20 mins, Google it)
8. The Uber when it says it's five minutes away (it's not)
9. Drying my hair (all morning)

10. The TikTok ban (12 hours)
11. The time it takes me to find a suitable video essay to watch while I eat (until my food goes cold)

12. The double un-skipppable YouTube ads on my video essay (too long)
13. The time it took Katy Perry to get in full glam for her space excursion (probably)
14. The first ever flight by humans in a hot air balloon, 1783 (25 mins)
15. The time it took me to write this list.
Which is longer than you would think.

In addition to the group chat, Haliburton also confirmed that the four go on double dates together. Also inside that group chat is a video that has not been released to the public yet. It turns out that Clark is so supportive of the Pacers' star that she records herself reacting to game-winning plays at the end of games. 'I videotaped myself, like, the final play, and I have my reaction in real time. It's a pretty iconic video,' Clark said. Both players are the stars of their teams in the Indianapolis market and have helped make their teams even more relevant this past year-plus. The Pacers this year broke a 25-year NBA finals drought with the help of Haliburton. Clark, after being drafted by the Fever, was named 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year and led the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. 4 Caitlin Clark (L) of the Indiana Fever and Tyrese Haliburton (2nd R) of the Indiana Pacers react in a game between the Western Michigan Broncos and the Butler Bulldogs at Hinkle Fieldhouse on November 11, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher finalize $75 million divorce

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher have called a truce. The exes have finalized their $75 million divorce battle, announcing the news on Friday. 'Our divorce has now been finalised. We are proud of all we've achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children. Cohen and Fisher share three children: Olive, born in 2007; Elula, born in August 2010; and Montgomery, born in March 2015. Advertisement While they remained tight-lipped during their $75 million divorce, tensions reportedly grew between the two following Rebel Wilson's explosive claims in her autobiography that Cohen allegedly had sexually harassed her while filming their 2016 comedy 'The Brothers Grimsby.' Wilson also alleged that he tried to block her memoir from being published. Cohen denied her allegations, calling them 'demonstrably false claims' that were 'contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during, and after the production of 'The Brothers Grimsby.'' 8 The exes shared a joint statement about the news on Friday. islafisher/Instagram Advertisement 8 Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher were married for 13 years before announcing their split. Orlando Bloom Was 'Frustrated' With Katy Perry's Space Trip As He Allegedly Didn't 'Approve' Of It Amid Tensions

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom were reportedly not on the same page regarding her recent all-female trip to space. This revelation comes amid reports suggesting the couple is going through a rough patch in their relationship. Sources now claim Orlando Bloom "did not approve" of the trip and was "frustrated" and "disappointed" by Katy Perry's decision to embark on it regardless. Several cracks seem to have formed in Perry and Bloom's romance amid reports that their relationship has ended. Following her 11-minute all-female space trip on Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin spacecraft, Perry gushed in a radio interview that her fiancé, Bloom, was "all about the journey." However, a source has now revealed that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor "did not approve" of it as he never thought "going on the mission was a good idea." Speaking to The U.S. Sun, the insider went further to explain that Bloom "knew she would get backlash" from the mission and was "frustrated" and "disappointed" with her decision to take part in it. "From day one, Orlando didn't think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea, and knew she would face backlash," the source said. "He always thought it was a stupid idea, and she wouldn't get anything positive out of it." The "Roar" hitmaker joined the all-female crew comprising Aisha Bowe, Lauren Sanchez, Kerianne Flynn, Gayle King, and Amanda Nguyen for the April 15 flight despite her fiancé's alleged reservations. While en route, she held up a daisy seemingly in a bid to honor her and Bloom's daughter, Daisy. Upon her return, she stopped to kiss the ground, but was ridiculed by many who thought the trip was "unnecessary" and her actions afterwards were "dramatic." Even celebrities, such as Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn, didn't hold back with their criticisms of the all-female space trip. "That space mission this morning. That's end time sh-t. This is beyond parody," Ratajkowski fumed. "Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it's about Mother Earth and you're going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that's single-handedly destroying the planet?" "Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?" She added. It appears Bloom has reached his breaking point amid the underlying tensions in his relationship, with a source sharing that the actor needs space from Perry. The disagreements between them are said to have made the "Lord of the Rings" actor believe Perry "doesn't take him seriously." "He has been frustrated that his opinion is not being taken seriously or even heard," the source continued. "He feels she is a different person lately." According to the news outlet, the insider also confirmed rumors that the pair have hit a "rough patch" in their relationship and are now leading separate lives. The 48-year-old actor has repeatedly been spending time alone and arrived without Perry at the "Deep Cover" premiere during the 2025 Tribeca Festival on June 10 in New York City. The negative and harsh criticism Perry has been facing seemingly took a toll on her and their relationship, as a source told Page Six that "it's over" between them and they "are waiting till her tour is over before they split." The underwhelming reception of her recent album, "143," also didn't help matters, as the project was critically panned, which seemingly resulted in low ticket sales at some of her tour's venues. A source told People Magazine that the poor reception to her album negatively affected her and caused "some tension" in her relationship with Bloom. "Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album," a source told the news outlet. "It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension." "She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship," another source said. Perry is currently on her Lifetimes world tour, which began on April 23 and runs through December 7. Perry and Bloom's relationship has faced challenging times before, following their split in 2017. Addressing the breakup in a 2024 appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, the "Teenage Dreams" singer said both of them "weren't really in it from day one." "He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions," Perry continued. "I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had to do a lot of real work." In 2023, Bloom also addressed the challenges he and Perry faced in their relationship, insinuating that their different career paths could be a factor in the issues they have encountered. "We're in two very different pools [for their work]. Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands," Bloom told Flaunt. The "Lord Of The Rings" actor continued: "Sometimes things are really, really, really challenging. I won't lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity." "I think we're both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did. And there's definitely never a dull moment," he added.
