Jerry Cantrell Performs Alice in Chains' 'Hate To Feel' for First Time in 30-Plus Years: Watch
Jerry Cantrell kicked off his 'I Want Blood' North American tour on Friday night (January 31st) in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and performed the Alice in Chains song 'Hate to Feel' for the first time in more than 30 years.
The deep cut from the seminal 1992 album Dirt hadn't been performed by Alice in Chains or any member of the band since a November 1993 show.

Cantrell and his solo band dusted off the tune 13 songs into a 17-song set in Niagara Falls, and played it again over the weekend at shows in Sayreville, New Jersey, and Portland, Maine — which means it will likely remain a staple in the set during the duration of the tour.
Singer Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, ex-Dillinger Escape Plan) is part of Cantrell's touring band, and often takes on the late Layne Staley's vocal parts on the Alice in Chains songs in Cantrell's sets. Fan-filmed video of 'Hate to Feel' shows Puciato and Cantrell harmonizing on the murky number.
Among the other Alice in Chains songs in the Niagara Fall set were classics 'Them Bones,' 'Down in a Hole,' 'Would?,' and 'Rooster.'
Cantrell's tour in support of his 2024 album I Want Blood runs through a March 9th gig in Seattle (pick up tickets here). See Jerry Cantrell and his solo band perform 'Hate to Feel' from a couple different angles below.

Benson Boone on Viral Fame, the Kardashians, and His American Heart Tour
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. At this point, whether you're a superfan or just a casual consumer of pop culture, chances are you've heard the name Benson Boone. Maybe you caught Heidi Klum and Nikki Glaser literally tearing his clothes off during the Best New Artist medley at the Grammys, or stumbled upon clips of his Emporio Armani fragrance performance on your TikTok For You page. There's a chance you've seen his name in headlines thanks to his relationship with creator Maggie Thurmon—and an even bigger chance you've heard his viral hit 'Beautiful Things' approximately a million times. He's a full-blown, flipping pop star, with the kind of meteoric rise most musicians only dream about. And now, Boone is set to kick off the U.S. leg of his American Heart World Tour tomorrow. Below, he shares why he started doing backflips, the songstresses who make him nervous, and his unexpected love of reality TV—including a soft spot for The Kardashians. Because I do it all the time, I've just kind of built up strength in my legs to do it every night. It's like practicing for a sport. I don't just do flips onstage. Of course, not randomly in public either—more on my own with my friends doing crazy things. Honestly, not far off. I was very young, like 4. I watched my dad do a backflip, and I thought it was so cool. I was like, 'Man, I've got to do that.' I went and flipped off my couch, surprisingly landed, and then started doing flips all over the neighborhood. Red Bull. It's so good. I don't know what it is. I don't know what they put in that—and honestly, I don't want to know—and I think that's why I like it. I'm not even trying to promote Red Bull here, but it's very distinct. I don't actually think about it. A whole lot of getting ready for a show is just drinking your yerba maté. The Red Bull is for after. I just get excited with my friends, family, or girlfriend. I don't get super nervous, so it's still really fun for me to feel my heart beat a little faster. I'm just ready to put on a show. The only time I've really been nervous was at the Grammys. I was singing in front of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo. I was kind of peeing my pants a little bit for sure. I love Elton John's style, Freddie Mercury's style, Michael Jackson's style, even Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen. I'm just someone who loves to have fun and be expressive. But I'm not always wanting to do the craziest, most intricate outfits. Sometimes I like just a tank top and jeans. I just do what I'm feeling. Being onstage is an opportunity to elevate my style, but what I wear onstage isn't always what I would wear every day going to a gas station. The Kardashians—that's the only answer. Lately, honestly, I get so many dog videos. It actually confuses me, because I usually scroll past them. A couple of them were really cute, and maybe I watched them too long. I've tried to be on social media less. Lately, there have been a lot of people expressing their opinions of me. Whether it's good or bad, I don't like to be constantly watching videos of myself. It'll be the most thought-out show I've ever played. I've spent the last six months thinking and planning every song—what's going to be on the screens, what I'm going to be doing, and what I'm going to be wearing. It's a whole world that I've built in my head. I'm really excited for people to see it. A version of this story appears in the September 2025 issue of ELLE. GET THE LATEST ISSUE OF ELLE

Morgan Wallen Is Making Sure He Won't Get Any Grammy Nominations by Not Submitting
Morgan Wallen is ensuring his streak of never receiving a solo Grammy nomination continues by declining to submit his latest album, I'm the Problem, for consideration. Wallen's team confirmed the news to Rolling Stone, after it was first reported by Hits Daily Double and Billboard. Not only will Wallen not submit I'm the Problem — which has spent 11 weeks so far at Number One on the Billboard 200 — in any of the album categories, he also won't submit individual recordings in categories like Record of the Year or Best Country Solo Performance. More from Rolling Stone Morgan Wallen Taps Lil Wayne and Rick Ross for 'Miami' Remix Travis Scott's 'Jackboys 2' Tops Albums Chart Grammys Introduce New Country Album Category, Best New Artist Rules for 2026 Additionally, Wallen won't seek songwriting nominations for any of the tracks he co-wrote on I'm the Problem. But as Billboard notes, Wallen's team won't stop any of the songwriters he worked with from putting up their work for consideration. Wallen isn't the first major artist to decline to submit their music to the Grammys. Most recently, Drake, the Weeknd, and Frank Ocean have rebuffed the institution, criticizing the nominations committees and voting body for being disconnected from what's actually popular and meaningful to contemporary audiences, especially in their worlds of hip-hop and R&B. After he declined to submit Blonde, Ocean said in a 2016 interview that the Grammys don't 'seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down.' He added: 'I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated. I'd rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.' (The Recording Academy has taken some steps in recent years to diversify its voters and nominees, and add some transparency to its nominations process. Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. noted these efforts at the 67th Grammys in February before introducing a beef-squashing performance from the Weeknd.) Unlike Wallen, however, Drake, the Weeknd, and Ocean staged their protests as multiple Grammy winners. (Though, potentially bolstering their critiques, all their victories were in genre categories, as opposed to the general fields of Song, Record, and Album of the Year, or Best New Artist.) Wallen has been nominated at the Grammys just twice, and both times as a featured artist on Post Malone's 'I Had Some Help.' Morgan Wallen Breaks Up with Grammys Before Grammys Can Hurt Him Again
The post Morgan Wallen Breaks Up with Grammys Before Grammys Can Hurt Him Again appeared first on Consequence. Morgan Wallen, who is doing to country music what Drake did to young girls hip-hop, is declining to submit his 37-track I'm the Problem for Grammy consideration after failing to win in previous years — a strategy commonly known as 'You're not breaking up with me, I'm breaking up with you.' As Billboard reports, Wallen's team will not enter the artist in any categories, though they will not stop collaborators such as Post Malone or Tate McRae from submitting their duets. Wallen was previously nominated for his work on Post Malone's F-1 Trillion, with multiple nods for No. 1 single 'I Had Some Help.' He has never won, putting him in rare company with The Monkees as the only artists to top the Billboard 200 for at least 30 weeks without earning Grammy gold. With this decision, Wallen is following in the footsteps of The Weeknd, who announced a Grammy boycott in 2021 following a perceived snub of After Hours. The Weeknd won a Grammy the very next year, for his work on the Future and Metro Boomin collab 'We Still Don't Trust You.' He may also be reacting to Beyoncé's win for Best Country Album earlier this year, which might suggest that the Academy and Wallen don't share the same taste in country music. Earlier this year, Wallen raised eyebrows with an awkward exit from the SNL stage, which led to some responses from the sketch show.
