Putin's ‘top sniper' dubbed The Executioner exposed as a ‘CHEAT who faked battlefield wounds in £1.7m compensation scam'
RUSSIA'S best sniper who "killed dozens" of Ukrainians has been exposed as a fraudster in a huge military corruption scandal. Nicknamed "the Executioner", he has been accused of claiming payouts for sham injuries. 5 Konstantin Frolov, once known as the "Executioner", has been exposed as a fraudster. Russian media once applauded Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Frolov, 38, for being "commander of Russia's 'most effective sniper group'. He claimed to have been wounded seven times in the war against Ukraine. And his country upheld him as an exceptional soldier willing to risk everything on the front line. Read more on Russia PUTIN'S TOLL Russia would suffer '2 million casualties' if it tries to take more of Ukraine But now it's revealed that the "combat wounds" were self-inflicted and sometimes carried out by fellow soldiers, who "avoided vital organs". The quack sniper initially denied the charges, but then he confessed - and took 30 comrades down with him. A major military corruption scandal was exposed, where 30 servicemen had claimed £1.7million in payouts for bogus injuries. They all shot each other to inflect non-fatal wounds and win medals for valour. Frolov is also suspected of completely pretending to lead a sniper unit. He possibly even faked adopting a girl he rescued from shelling. Putin general 'has arm and leg AMPUTATED' as he fights for life after Ukrainian strike Before he was detained, Russian state TV hailed him as 'the senior sniper in one of the Airborne Forces units". Photos showed him wearing multiple medals and insignia. But now the father-of-three has been stripped of all the honours and detained. He faces charges of large-scale fraud, bribery and illegal possession of weapons and explosives. 5 The quack war hero feigned battlefield injuries for undeserved valour and cash Credit: East2West 5 Colonel Artem Gorodilov, 41, is another soldier embroiled in this mass fraud scandal Credit: East2West Russia state TV said: "He has just returned from Avdiivka, where he was wounded for the seventh time. 'A shrapnel fragment flew under his bulletproof vest, barely missing his heart. 'He refused rehabilitation and leave and returned to duty. The colonel said: 'How can I walk around my hometown when people are fighting here and I'm there? 'My guys are here, my group is here. I can't do that.' The TV report had claimed he was "one of the most effective snipers in the war zone".

Ukrainian arrested over 2022 Nord Stream gas pipe blast after ‘saboteurs using fake IDs rented sailing yacht for attack'
from a shadowy Russian special ops unit could be behind the attac Security experts initially feared a crack force of divers from a shadowy Russian special ops unit could be behind the attac k DEEP SEA BOMBING Ukrainian arrested over 2022 Nord Stream gas pipe blast after 'saboteurs using fake IDs rented sailing yacht for attack' A UKRAINIAN man has been arrested over the 2022 Nord Stream gas pipe explosion. He is suspected of being one of the coordinators of the undersea blasts which severely damaged pipelines between Russia and Germany. 2 Images show the damaged pipeline after the explosion 2 A leak from Nord Stream 2 after the pipeline blast Credit: AP The suspect has been identified only as Serhii K after he was detained overnight by officers from a police station in Misano Adriatrico, near the Italian city of Rimini. Germany's Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig called the arrest an "impressive success" for Germany's state prosecutors. Two Nord Stream pipelines were damaged by explosions under the Baltic Sea between Denmark and Sweden almost three years ago. The blasts caused four leaks as shocking images showed the twisted remains of the pipeline. Footage showed twisted metal on the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, 262ft down in the Baltic Sea. Around 165ft of pipeline was destroyed or buried under the seafloor. The attacks sent millions of cubic metres of methane boiling to the sea's surface and pushed sky-high gas prices even higher. Investigations into who was behind the attacks went on for months with security experts initially blaming Russian sabotage. The explosions were believed to have been timed to coincide with Vladimir Putin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine as European countries moved away from Russian energy sources. In a statement Thursday, prosecutors said Serhii K. was one of a group of people who placed explosives on the pipelines and is believed to have been one of the coordinators. They said he is suspected of causing explosions, anti-constitutional sabotage and the destruction of structures. The suspect and others used a yacht that set off from the German port of Rostock, which had been hired from a German company using forged IDs and with the help of intermediaries, prosecutors said. They didn't give any information on the other people aboard the yacht or say anything about who else might have been involved in coordinating the suspected sabotage. More to follow... Zelenskyy says he'll only meet Putin when Ukraine gets security guarantees
UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT VOLODYMYR Zelenskyy has said he will meet Russia's Vladimir Putin but only after his country has received security guarantees to ensure Russia does not re-invade. He mentioned Switzerland, Austria or Turkey as possible venues for the talks. 'We want to have an understanding of the security guarantees architecture within 7–10 days,' Zelenskyy said. 'Based on that understanding, we aim to hold a trilateral meeting,' he said. The trilateral would involve Zelenskyy, Putin and US President Donald Trump. Despite efforts to move towards a peace deal, Russia has continued to pound Ukraine with strikes, while Ukraine has carried out testing of a long-range cruise missile. Advertisement Russia launched hundreds of drones and missiles against Ukraine overnight in the biggest barrage since mid-July, killing one person and wounding many others. Ukrainian officials said the strikes showed Russia was not serious about a peace deal. 'Russia continues to demonstrate that it is not interested in peace,' Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said. 'Last night, Ukraine was subjected to a large-scale combined strike: drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, even hypersonic weapons.' Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 574 drones and 40 missiles. Air defence units downed 546 drones and 31 missiles. 'One person was killed and two were wounded as a result of the combined UAV and cruise missile strike in Lviv,' said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the military administration in the western city's region. 'Dozens of residential buildings were damaged,' he added. Russian fire also wounded 12 people in the city of Mukachevo near the border with Hungary and Slovakia, the city council said. Related Reads Putin will face a 'rough situation' if he does not agree to a peace plan, Trump says Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said there was 'no military logic or necessity' to the strikes, adding they were 'just terror against people'. Russia's defence ministry said it destroyed '49 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles' across multiple regions. The ministry did not detail any casualties or damage. Meanwhile, Ukraine has tested a long-range cruise missile known as Flamingo that can strike targets at 3,000 kilometres. Zelenskyy said mass production could begin by February. 'The missile has undergone successful tests. It is currently our most successful missile — it can fly 3,000 kilometres, which is significant,' he said.
