Three 'Pokémon' Movies Go Free On YouTube For A Limited Time

Geek Culture07-07-2025
Pokémon fans are about to get hit by a wave of nostalgia, as the first three movies in the series will soon arrive on the Pokémon TV YouTube channel and will be free to watch for a limited time. Pokémon: The First Movie (1998)
Taking to Twitter/X, the company announced what it calls the 'Pokémon Movie Summer Watch Party', with a further post on Instagram detailing the dates and times the movies will become available to view online.
The watch party has already kicked off last Friday, 4 July, with Pokémon: The First Movie , which was originally released in 1998. The second film, 1999's Pokémon The Movie 2000, is due out next month, on 1 August at 12pm PT. Finally, 2000's Pokémon 3: The Movie will be available to view on YouTube on 5 September at the same time. It is to note, however, that the movies will be region locked, and are currently not available in certain countries like Singapore. Pokémon The Movie 2000 (1999)
The three movies would certainly bring back memories for avid Pokémon fans, who would no doubt have fond memories of Ash Ketchum's earliest adventures, which saw him and his friends take on an evil Mewtwo clone in the 1998 film, embark on a quest to capture the legendary birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, in the 1999 sequel, and finally encounter the mysterious Pokémon Entei in the third movie.
These three films were just the first in a long line of Pokémon movies, the likes of 2001's Pokémon 4Ever , 2004's Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys , or the franchise's most recent film, Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle , which was released globally in October 2021. Currently, the company has not mentioned if the remaining films will also land on YouTube for free in the future. Pokémon 3: The Movie (2000)
Additionally, even though the three movies will be made available on YouTube, it is not clear how long the films will remain on the platform, which means fans will just have to watch 'em all while they can.

James Gunn's 'Superman' Unlikely To Soar Past 'Man of Steel' As It Nears US$600M Global Milestone

Like clockwork, the annual summer slate would always invite competition between tentpole titles, with this year's focusing on James Gunn's Superman and Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps . But it's only one of the two battles being waged, as fans are reigniting a deep-seated rivalry by pitting the former against 2013's Man of Steel . As the DC Universe (DCU) film enters its seventh week in theatres, the result is clear: both are box-office victors in their own right. Superman now sits at US$594.5 million globally after earning an additional US$8.4 million over the weekend, which puts it behind the Man of Steel 's US$670.1 million haul by a fair bit. However, it overtook the latter in domestic gross with US$331 million versus US$291 million, not adjusted for inflation. It's unlikely that Gunn's latest outing will outperform Zack Snyder's grittier, more mature take on the Last Son of Krypton, given that its climb to US$600 million has slowed to a crawl. Still, the gamble has paid off for DC Studios, as it's the first DC movie to surpass the domestic tally of US$300 million in three years. On the flip side, its Marvel counterpart isn't in the best shape. While The Fantastic Four: First Steps enjoyed a strong global opening, it registered a sharp fall in the subsequent weeks and now stands at US$468.7 million after four weekends, of which US$247 million came from the domestic box office. The launchpad to Chapter One of the rebooted DCU, Superman stars David Corenswet (Pearl) as Clark Kent aka the titular superhero, Rachel Brosnahan ( The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ) as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult ( Nosferatu ) as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced ( Alien: Romulus ) as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion ( The Rookie ) as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi ( StartUp ) as Mr. Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan ( Barry ) as Metamorpho. It also sets the stage for Supergirl's upcoming solo film in 2026, with Craig Gillespie ( Cruella , I, Tonya ) serving as director. Meanwhile, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by WandaVision 's Matt Shakman and serves as the 37th title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It stars Pedro Pascal ( The Last of Us ) as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby ( The Crown ) as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach ( The Bear ) as Ben Grimm / The Thing, and Joseph Quinn ( Stranger Things 4 ) as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, eschewing their origin stories for a new adventure in the retro-futuristic setting of an alternate universe known as Earth-828. NVIDIA GeForce NOW Cloud Gaming Adds RTX 5080 GPU Support & Improved Streaming

GeForce NOW, NVIDIA's cloud gaming platform, is receiving a substantial upgrade in September this year that introduces its latest Blackwell Architecture features and RTX 5080 series GPUs, alongside improved streaming quality, more supported devices, and games. GeForce RTX 5080-class GPU servers will be introduced to the GeForce NOW Ultimate membership tier, offering 2.8 times faster frame rates compared to its previous-generation RTX 4080 servers, bringing its latest AI-enhanced features like DLSS 4, enhanced ray tracing with Neural Rendering and Multi-Frame Generation for maximum resolutions and performance. It's to be noted, however, that RTX 5080 servers are only supported for select games and are limited to the Ultimate tier, with no change in servers for the lower Free and Performance tiers. NVIDIA will also debut Cinematic Quality Streaming (CQS) on GeForce NOW, a suite of technologies that greatly enhance image quality, delivering YUV 4:4:4 Chroma colour precision, HDR10 support, AV1 encoders, AI-enhanced video filters and 100Mbps streaming for maximum sharpness and smoothness. The cloud gaming service will also be expanded with more games, with an updated library of 2,300 ready-to-play titles, including anticipated upcoming releases like Borderlands 4 , Dying Light: The Beast and The Outer Worlds 2 , alongside an added library of over 2,200 games with its new Install-to-Play feature, allowing Steam titles from select publishers to be downloaded directly to cloud storage, mirroring the experience of having them on a local PC. Ultimate and Performance tier members will receive 100GB of single-session cloud storage for Install-to-Play games at no additional cost to their membership, with additional cloud storage expansions available for purchase. Finally, GeForce NOW's latest additions are also expanding beyond PC gaming, with RTX 5080 server support for mobile gaming devices like the Valve Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go S, alongside gaming peripherals like Logitech racing wheels and LG TVs and monitors, giving gamers more choices to suit their individual set-ups. Best of all, these upgrades will arrive at no additional cost, with each tier retaining its existing prices. The GeForce NOW upgrade featuring the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and RTX 5080 servers will begin rolling out in September. Disney+ 'Marvel Zombies' Animated Series Release Date Moved Up

Disney announced some good news for its Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans, revealing that the release date of Disney+'s Marvel Zombies has been moved up an entire week from its original date of 3 October to 24 September. A zombiefied Tony Stark in What If… Zombies?! This now means that the upcoming zombie apocalypse series will premiere on Disney+ before the spooky season, with each of the four episodes of the What If…? spin-off being aired weekly, therefore wrapping up all the undead mayhem two weeks before Halloween itself. First announced in 2021, the animated miniseries will revisit the same post-apocalyptic world where the Earth's Mightiest Heroes have been turned into the undead that was originally seen in the episode ' What If… Zombies?! ' in What If…? Season 1. Inspired by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and artist Sean Phillips' original Marvel Zombies comic, the series will also introduce new survivors drawn from across the MCU. A zombiefied Thanos wielding a near-complete Infinity Gauntlet in What If… Zombies?! The What If…? episode ended on a grim cliffhanger: Thanos, now a zombie himself and wielding an almost complete Infinity Gauntlet, arrives in Wakanda, humanity's last refuge. Meanwhile, Spider-Man (Hudson Thames, Mad Men ), T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman, 21 Bridges ), and the disembodied head of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire ) were making their way there with the Mind Stone, hoping it could cure the infection. How their mission unfolds remains a mystery. Footage shown at D23 2024 teased intense undead battles, with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh, Don't Worry Darling ) and Blade Knight, a hybrid of Moon Knight and Blade, fending off hordes, while an infected Okoye commands the zombie army. Shang-Chi (Simu Liu, Barbie ) will play a significant role alongside Katy (Awkwafina, Ocean's Eight ), Xu Wenwu (Tony Leung, The Grandmaster ), and the Ten Rings. Elizabeth Olsen ( Sorry for Your Loss ) also returns to voice the infected Wanda Maximoff, whose terrifying presence was a highlight of the original episode. A terrifying undead Scarlett Witch in What If… Zombies?! With a TV-MA rating, Marvel Zombies promises to push boundaries for the MCU, delivering plenty of gruesome gore and macabre mayhem for its audience. This will mark one of Marvel's most mature projects yet, and definitely one that is not intended for younger viewers. Brad Andrews, director of the original What If…? zombie episode, returns as showrunner and executive producer. The series was created by Emmy-winner and Deadpool & Wolverine co-writer Zeb Wells. The concept for expanding the zombie universe hailed from Marvel Studios leadership, after television chief Brad Winderbaum and president Kevin Feige saw the potential for more narratives stemming from the apocalyptic world following the popularity of What If… Zombies?! Peter Parker is one of the remaining survivors in What If… Zombies?! With just four episodes but the freedom of a mature rating, the creative team has set out to craft something impressive with a darker tone than audiences might expect from Marvel or Disney, and fans will simply have to wait in tantalising trepidation for the terrific terror that Marvel Zombies promises. Marvel Zombies premieres on 24 September on Disney+.
