Now the Blues want the 22-year-old to be tested at a higher level to raise his game and profile.
It comes despite boss Enzo Maresca facing a first-choice headache following dodgy form from main stoppers Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.
Sanchez was dropped back in February, only for Swedish-born ace Jorgensen to immediately make two blunders against Brighton.
Maresca has since gone back to his Spaniard.
And he praised Sanchez following Saturday'as 1-0 Prem win over Everton.

Enzo Maresca says Chelsea Club World Cup win over Palmeiras was ‘perfect night'
Enzo Maresca hailed the 'perfect night' after his Chelsea side reached the Club World Cup final and witnessed a sparkling display by incoming signing Estevao Willian. A deflected late Malo Gusto cross saw the Londoners snatch a 2-1 victory in their quarter-final against Palmeiras in Philadelphia. That came after Cole Palmer's early opener had been cancelled out by a stunning strike from Estevao, the 18-year-old winger who is to join them after the tournament. Maresca said: 'We're very happy. It's a fantastic day. The semi-finals of the Club World Cup – the best clubs in the world – and we are there. 'Probably for us it has been the perfect night because we won and Estevao scored, so it was very good for all of us.' Estevao was given a tough time by Marc Cucurella in a first half Chelsea largely controlled but he shone in the second period as the Brazilians fought their way back into the game. He equalised when he took a pass from the right and smashed a shot past Robert Sanchez from a tight angle. 'You can see he is a huge talent, you can see is a fantastic player,' said Maresca. 'The only thing now is when you come from South America or another part of the world to Europe you need to adapt. 'We are going to help him to adapt and first of all to enjoy football. We don't have any doubt, as he is so good, that he is going to be an important player for Chelsea.' Chelsea, who gave a debut to new signing Joao Pedro off the bench in the second half, will now play another Brazilian side in Fluminense in New York on Tuesday for a place in the final. Maresca felt his side had come through a tough game. The Italian said: 'The first half was very good and we finished very good but the first 15-20 minutes of the second half we struggled. 'But it is normal. At this stage of the season, the energy levels from South America teams are a bit different compared to us. Overall we did very well with that.' Estevao, who swapped shirts with Palmer at the end of the game, paid tribute to the club he is leaving. The teenager said: 'I'm very happy I could score a goal to help my club. Unfortunately this wasn't the result we wanted but we gave our best on the pitch and now I am moving on and I thank Palmeiras for everything. 'What my father says is he wants me to give my best on the pitch and this is what I did. I did everything I could to score a goal but we cannot win every day. 'Now I move on I will cheer Palmeiras on and I am so happy to have been part of this club. Palmeiras opened the door for me and I am deeply thankful to them all.'

Enzo Maresca excited by glimpse of Chelsea's future with ‘huge talent' Estêvão
Enzo Maresca called Estêvão Willian a huge talent after the Brazilian teenager marked his final game for Palmeiras by scoring a brilliant goal in his side's Club World Cup quarter-final defeat to Chelsea. The 18-year-old winger, who will be playing at Stamford Bridge next season, found himself in the unusual position of trying to knock his next employers out at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday night. Chelsea made it through to a semi-final with Fluminense after a late own-goal from Weverton but there was huge excitement around Estêvão after his stunning equaliser at the start of the second half. 'You can see he is a huge talent,' Maresca said. 'You can see he is a fantastic player. The only thing now is when you come from South America or another part of the world to Europe you need to adapt. We are going to help him to adapt and first of all to enjoy football. We don't have any doubt, as he is so good, that he is going to be an important player for Chelsea.' Chelsea took an early lead through Cole Palmer, who embraced Estêvão and swapped shirts with his future attacking partner at full-time. 'I told Estêvão we are excited for you to join but he didn't understand a single word I said,' Palmer said. Estêvão, who stayed for Palmeiras for one more season after Chelsea agreed a £52m deal with the Brazilian club last year, was named superior player of the match. He will go into Chelsea's first-team squad having already shown them his quality. 'I'm very happy I could score a goal to help my club,' the teenager said. 'Unfortunately this wasn't the result we wanted but we gave our best on the pitch. Now I am moving on and I thank Palmeiras for everything. I will cheer Palmeiras on and I am so happy to have been part of this club.' Abel Ferreira, who has played a pivotal role in Estêvão's development, urged Chelsea to continue to support the youngster. 'You bought an amazing player but more than this you bought an amazing person,' the Palmeiras manager said. 'You need to take care of him. You need to embrace him and in the beginning for sure he will make mistakes. He is an amazing player with a lot of skill. He is a player who can win a game alone. 'With new players and a new coach he will grow as a player and a person. For sure he will need your support. It's the first time he will leave his country. In England the sun appears two or three times a year and the night comes early but with help Chelsea have conditions to support him.' Sign up to Football Daily Kick off your evenings with the Guardian's take on the world of football after newsletter promotion Estêvão dealt with some tough tackling from Marc Cucurella, which bodes well for his ability to cope with Premier League defenders. 'He has a lot of mobility,' Ferreira said. 'He looks slim, but he is strong. He is fast. The way he shot on goal was with his right foot. He is an amazing player.' Levi Colwill and Liam Delap will be suspended against Fluminense after picking up yellow cards. Moises Caicedo will return from a ban but Maresca has injury concerns over Romeo Lavia, and Reece James had to pull out of the starting XI after feeling tightness during the warm-up. Maresca offered no response to Chelsea being fined £27m by Uefa for breaking financial fair play rules. There are doubts over whether Chelsea will be able to add new players to their European squad. They are under pressure to make sales this summer. Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke started against Palmeiras but both forwards are candidates to leave as the club looks to raise revenue.

Chelsea earn £60m boost after suffering scare from £29m new signing
CHELSEA 2-1 PALMEIRAS: Enzo Maresca's side earned their place in the Club World Cup semi-final with victory over Brazilian opponents as Cole Palmer got on the scoresheet in Philadelphia. Enzo Maresca described it as a 'perfect night' as Chelsea hit the jackpot for reaching the Club World Cup semi final. Chelsea survived a nerve-jangling night in Philadelphia and a wonder goal from their own next big thing Estevao Willian to set up a showdown with Fluminese in New York next Tuesday. Cole Palmer's brilliant first half strike and then a rather ugly own goal from Malo Gusto's deflected cross means Chelsea have now banked £60m from the tournament with the eventual winners getting £97m in prize money. That should help pay Chelsea's whopping UEFA fine of £26.7m - with another £51.2m suspended if they do not fall into line - for breaching spending rules. It also gave us a tantalising glimpse of Palmeiras teenager Estevao who is just 18 and has already signed to join Chelsea after the Club World Cup in a £29.1m-plus deal. You saw glimpses in front of the 65,782 crowd at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field why he is regarded as Brazil's next big talent and his goal was breathtaking. But, despite the second half scare, Chelsea came through and remain on course to finish their season in remarkable style. Chelsea boss Maresca said: 'Happy because we won. Happy because Estêvão scored. The perfect night. 'It has been a tough game, as we expected. We needed lots of energy. At the end, congratulations to the players because they were very good." Palmer started the game in brilliant fashion Trevoh Chalobah strode forward out of defence, played the valleys forward and Palmer took it in his stride, rolled Palmeiras defender Micael and then placed a shot into the bottom corner. Chelsea should have had more goals to show for their dominance and superiority but Christopher Nkunku blazed over while Palmeiras hung on. It was made all the more impressive in that Chelsea were missing Moises Caicedo through suspension, Romeo Lavia was injured and even Reece James got injured in the warm-up so they drafted in Brazilian Andrey Santos at the last minute. They will now be without Liam Delap through suspension in the semi-final after he got a second booking in the tournament. Palmeiras then rocked Chelsea as they started the second half brilliantly, put Chelsea on the back foot and Estevao scored a breathtaking goal. Palmeiras defender Richard Rios played the ball into Estevao, the Brazil teenager peeled away from Levi Colwill and then fired a terrific shot in off the woodwork from what looked like an impossible angle. But Chelsea then brought on new £60m signing Joao Pedro who really turned the game in Chelsea's favour. Gusto sent over a low cross, it deflected off defender Agustín Giay and then deceived keeper Weverton and will probably go down as an own goal but was so messy that it was hard to say who will get most of the blame. But it sent Chelsea into the semi finals and Pedro, a former Fluminese player, said: "We need to be ready for Fluminense. I know them well. I know they will give 100%. Now we need to rest and be prepared for the next round.' Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
