LeBron James is plastic, it's fantastic: Mattel unveils Ken doll modeled after Lakers star
Barbie maker Mattel on Wednesday announced that the influential Lakers star would be the first professional male athlete to have a Ken doll modeled in his likeness. The newly introduced doll will be the first product in Mattel's new line of 'Kenbassador' toys. Last year, the toy giant released a line of several Barbie dolls modeled after women sports stars including tennis legend Venus Williams.
This new take on Ken, Barbie's longtime best friend, 'celebrates LeBron as a role model, his icon status, lasting impact on culture, and dedication to setting a positive example for the next generation to reach their limitless potential,' said Krista Berger, Mattel's senior vice president of Barbie and global head of dolls.
James' figure, one inch taller than the typical Ken doll, emulates the Lakers forward's fashion sense with a blue varsity jacket patched with his initials, 'LJ,' and his signature 23 jersey number. The Kenbassador also sports a pair of Nike high-tops, patterned pants, a gold watch and a black shirt that touts the James Family Foundation motto: 'We Are Family.' Accessories include a pair of headphones, sunglasses, a fanny pack and an 'I Promise' wristband.
James said in Wednesday's announcement that his partnership with Mattel is rooted in his own experiences with role models. 'Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to look up to,' he said in a statement.
The Ohio native and Cleveland Cavaliers alum added: 'It's an opportunity to recognize the powerful impact of role models who instill confidence, inspire dreams, and show kids that they, too, can achieve greatness.'
The James-inspired Kenbassador will cost $75 and hit shelves at various retailers Monday. Or in the NBA legend's words on Instagram: 'Lil Bron coming to a store near you!!!'
Despite the intricate details mirrored in his Kenbassador, James joked in a video published by the Associated Press that his Ken figure isn't entirely accurate.
'I mean, he might need to do a little lifting. Legs look a little skinny. Little frail little fellow,' he said, adding, 'Nah, that's dope.'

Venus Williams's US Open invite is chance to celebrate her impact
Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz reacts to the 45-year-old's wildcard invite to this year's tournament and why her inspiration to many on and off the court is worth celebrating. View more Video Transcript Great news for tennis fans all over the world. Venus Williams is set to make a return to the US Open actually, after two years away, so the last time she was there was 2023. She's 45 years old. She'll become the oldest person to compete in the singles event since 1981. The two-time US Open champion makes a return, which is absolutely huge for the sport. And the announcement comes on the same day that it's announced that she gets her own Barbie to signify the impact that she has had not just in sports, but to all of society. There are certain people that just transcend. There are certain people that force eyeballs no matter what is happening. And frankly, we talk about this all the time and things like golf, when we talk about the effect of Tiger. The effect of Venus is so powerful in this situation, the fact that she will be back on the court, the fact that it's been 2 years, the fact that she is 45, the fact that she has the opportunity to continue to grow her platform. This is a beautiful and smart move by the US Open to give her this wildcard entry, and all eyes will be on Venus to see how she can compete. Frankly, no matter what it is at this point on the court, we will all stop and appreciate the greatness of her career, the greatness of the individual, the greatness to her societal impact, and the greatness to what this means for eyeballs for the US Open. Bonkers Red-Band Trailer For DC's PEACEMAKER Season 2 Delivers Bloody Mayhem — GeekTyrant
HBO Max has unleashed the red-band trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, and it's just as chaotic, violent, and unfiltered as fans could've hoped for. With the series set to return next week, this trailer gives us a clear look at where things are headed, and it looks absolutely bonkers! From an eye-gouging Eagly bird attack to multiversal madness, James Gunn is clearly upping the stakes as the show transitions fully into the new DC Universe. The trailer wastes no time going full throttle. There's a heavy dose of bloody violence, and there's even an orgy thrown into the mix, because of course there is, along with a Lex Luthor name drop that suggests some major DC players are creeping into the storyline. The season teases a trip into a strange new world where things are just a bit... off. There's a version of Peacemaker who's famous, emotionally stable, and in love with Emilia Harcourt . Whether this is a parallel universe, an illusion, or something even crazier remains to be seen. We also get a glimpse of Rick Flag Sr. , played by Frank Grillo, who's clearly looking for revenge after his son's death in The Suicide Squad . The guy seems pissed — and likely dangerous. James Gunn confirmed that Season 2 will have a direct tie-in with Superman , the upcoming DCU film. 'You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker , and we see more about that technology in Superman ,' said Gunn. 'The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2.' He added, 'We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman .' He even teased that, 'There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show.' That last comment has fans speculating, especially since the final few episodes weren't sent to critics, just like Season 1, which famously featured surprise cameos from Aquaman and The Flash. Critics were given five of the eight episodes ahead of the premiere, and the social media and review embargo lifts tomorrow. That's when we'll get the first wave of reactions to see if Peacemaker can keep DC Studios' current hot streak going, following the success of Creature Commandos and Superman . Peacemaker season 2 follows Christopher 'Chris' Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante superhero, as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evildoer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost. He discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands. This second batch of episodes will star Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Sol Rodríguez, David Denman, Brey Noelle, and Tim Meadows. Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Peacemaker and directed three, including the first episode. The second season of Peacemaker officially premieres August 21, 2025, on HBO Max.
