Egypt Invested USD 550 Billion in Infrastructure Over Past Decade
Investment efforts aim to boost exports, attract global capital, and increase private sector participation.

Egypt has invested approximately USD 550 billion in infrastructure development over the past 10 years, according to recent statements by the Ministry of Investment. The figure was highlighted during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's meeting with Qatari business leaders in Doha, as part of ongoing efforts to expand bilateral economic cooperation and attract foreign investment.
The investment covers a wide range of projects, including the construction of over 7,000 kilometres of roads, new ports, and the development of 24 cities. These infrastructure upgrades form the foundation of a broader strategy to enhance Egypt's economic competitiveness and integrate more fully into global trade and investment flows.
In parallel with infrastructure expansion, Egypt has implemented structural economic reforms targeting inflation, improving financial stability, and creating a more attractive business environment. Fiscal policies have aimed to reduce non-tax burdens on businesses and streamline government interaction with investors. Trade reforms are also being rolled out with the aim of exceeding USD 145 billion in exports by 2030.
The Egyptian government has additionally committed to increasing private sector participation to 70% of total economic activity. To support this goal, Egypt's sovereign wealth fund is taking a larger role in the investment landscape, and new regulations are being introduced to ensure a level playing field for private and state-owned entities alike.
The developments are part of Egypt's broader economic reform agenda, which aims to position the country among the top 50 economies globally within the next three years and within the top 20 by the end of the decade. Most recently, Egypt and Qatar have signed an investment agreement worth USD 7.5 billion, focused on Egyptian infrastructure, development, and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.

Egypt, thanks to the wisdom of its political leadership and the awareness of its people, is experiencing a state of cohesion and stability amidst a turbulent environment plagued by crises and conflicts. The Egyptian people, with their age-old civilization, know well that the stability of the state is the foundation for its protection. Amid this tense atmosphere, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly's meeting with the ministers responsible for food security, energy, and electricity sent a clear message that the state is taking proactive action to protect citizens and secure their fuel and electricity needs as summer approaches, and to protect the country from any potential consequences of escalation in the Gulf region or the Middle East. We all know that our region is currently experiencing stormy weather, but Egypt, thanks God, has a clear vision for securing its borders and protecting its national security in all directions, from the western border with Libya, to the southern border with Sudan, to the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, all the way to the northeast, where the Palestinian issue remains present in the heart and conscience. We cannot ignore the ongoing attempts to push Egypt into chaos, as we saw with the so-called "Soumoud Convoy (Resilience Convoy)" which moved from abroad under the banner of aid, while concealing malicious intentions at a particularly crucial time. But Egypt—its leadership and people—has been and will remain vigilant against these recurring scenarios. Today, we must all stand united behind our political leadership and be vigilant against the schemes of those seeking to sow internal confusion through chaos or incitement. This is a time for steadfastness and unity for that sake of our homeland. Russia's Kostroma Delivers Spectacular Performance with Egyptian Participation

The event, which drew a distinguished crowd of ministers, ambassadors, and public figures, showcased the deepening cultural ties between Russia and Egypt. Among the attendees were Egyptian officials including Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs, and Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, as well as a host of ambassadors and diplomatic representatives. The evening featured a stunning display of Russian folklore, with the Reda Troupe joining in with a traditional Egyptian folk dance performance. In his speech, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Sergey Borisenko expressed Russia's pride in its growing relationship with Egypt, praising the Ministry of Culture and the Opera House for hosting the event.
