Chilling details of Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar's death emerge: Insects in hair, ‘black-coloured mass'
Humaira's body was found nearly a year after her death, lying unnoticed in her upscale Karachi apartment.
According to Geo News, the initial post-mortem findings suggested that she had died eight to 10 months ago. Her decomposed body was found by a police team while executing a court order to vacate the flat.
The report revealed that her key organs were reduced to an unidentifiable mass, and her facial features were completely unrecognisable, Pakistan-based GeoTV reported.
Parts of the body were "entirely devoid of muscle" tissue, and the bones began to "disintegrate upon touch," the report cited. It reported that her fingers and nails were "reduced to bone".
Moreover, it was found that the brain matter had completely decomposed via autolysis, and internal organs had turned into a "black-coloured mass".
The cartilage in joints was absent; however, it said no fractures were detected in bones.
Investigators also found insects in the remains, though no maggots were found. Brown-coloured insects, especially in the hair, were claimed to be present.
Experts were quoted as saying that these details may help determine the environmental conditions in which she lay undisturbed.
According to the post-mortem findings, Humaira's head and spine remained intact, but there was no spinal cord as the body was highly decomposed.
The initial post-morten report stated that extent of the decomposition has made it impossible to determine the exact cause of death at this stage.
However, DNA profiling and toxicology tests are under way and are expected to provide further insight.
Hair strands, clothes and blood samples had been sent for chemical analysis, GeoTV reported.
Humaira's body was found earlier this week when law enforcement personnel visited her apartment around 3:15pm to enforce a court-ordered eviction. After receiving no response, the police forced open the door and discovered her body lying on the floor. She had reportedly been living alone in the flat for the past seven years.

Lahore, Jul 12 (PTI) Pakistani model and actress Humaira Asghar, who was found dead early this week, was finally laid to rest here even as the police said on Saturday that prima facie no foul play was suspected in her death. Only a few people attended her funeral in Model Town locality of Lahore on Friday evening. Earlier her family had refused to receive her body, disowning her for entering the showbiz. Meanwhile, the actress' family's refusal to take her body for burial caused an uproar on social media with several people and government institutions coming forward to offer to arrange the burial. However, her brother Navid Asghar, who received the model's body after DNA matching, said the family had not refused to take the body. He admitted that the family had disowned her for joining showbiz against its wishes. 'The media's focus was entirely on our family. It never highlighted other possible causes of death,' he said. He said that Humaira was an 'independent person' who would not visit the family for extended periods. 'She moved to Karachi and had been living there for the last seven years. She didn't contact us for a year, although our mother would reach out to her some of the time,' he said and added Humaira's mobile phone had been switched off for the last six months. Humaira was a graduate of National College of Arts. She performed in Ajoka and Rafi Peer Theatre in about 100 plays before moving to modeling. She also performed in some TV plays and two films.
