The husband of a Scottish businessman murdered and found in a sack of pineapples in Kenya has paid tribute to the "absolute love of his life."
Simon Farrer paid tribute to his partner Campbell Scott, from Dunfermline, as a prime suspect in the horror murder case made a bid for freedom on Tuesday, June 17.
Mr Scott was discovered in a sack of pineapples about 60 miles from where he was last seen in Nairobi in February. Suspect Alex Mutua, a Kenyan national, pleaded not guilty to killing the 58-year-old.
Mutua appeared at a court hearing which was watched online by Mr Scott's heartbroken family and husband, Simon Farrer.
Simon and Campbell had been together for more than three decades as tributes were led to a "once in a lifetime" partner, reports the Daily Record.
Mr Farrer said: "How do you condense all those years we were living together? There was love and support, respect, honesty and patience.

"Campbell really was once in a lifetime and touched many people in many ways. People said everyone should have a Campbell in their life. His generosity was there for everyone. No matter what situation you were in, he was the first to offer help.
"If you needed money he would give you his last penny. He was the absolute love of my life and we made memories I'll cherish forever.
"A friend once said 'where there's a Campbell, there's a Simon'. Now there's just me and the memories. He's left a huge hole in everyone's lives that can never be filled."
Mr Scott was attending a conference at the JW Marriot Hotel in the Kenyan capital on February 16. The senior director at a credit scoring firm was last seen leaving the hotel with a man before taking a taxi to a residential area.
His body was then discovered by herders in a remote forest on February 22. His husband, who he entered into a civil partnership with in 2010, watched the man charged with killing him, Alex Mutua, appear in court on Tuesday.
Prosecutors allege that Mutua took Mr Scott to his house in the neighbourhood of Pipeline where he was murdered after he, and others, tried to withdraw money using the businessman's credit cards.
Another man wanted by police over the murder is understood to have taken his own life in March while two suspects remain on the run. Those men have been named as Benard Mbunga Mbusu and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa.

Albunus Mutinda Nzioki was previously arrested but is now to appear as a witness in the case.
Prosecution advocate Ms Ogweno told the court that Mutua was a "flight risk" and had been known to "lure" victims online with accomplices.
She said: "We are apprehensive he is likely to regroup with the two other accomplices."
Defence lawyer Mr Khadondi told the court there was no evidence to support the prosecution's case for bail and Mutua has a "constitutional right" to be released pending trial.
He said: "The seriousness of the charge alone is not a compelling reason to deny my client bail. He has strong family ties to the community and has no intention to flee from justice.
"He is entitled to liberty pending trial unless there are compelling reasons to justify his continued detention, which the prosecution has not adequately presented to this court".
He added: "The assistant chief and villagers at his rural home describe him as a person of good morals within the community and he has no history of misconduct."
The bail decision was deferred until later this year.

Scotland's five 'safest cities' named where locals feel most protected
Edinburgh and Glasgow both appear in the top five. Scotland's"safest cities" have been named in a new report. Topping the list is one of the country's biggest and most iconic settlements. When choosing where to live or even where to head for a holiday, there are lots of different factors to consider—from amenities to the number of green spaces. For many people, however, how safe a place is is the most important thing to think about. On Wednesday, June 18, Reolink shared a report of Scotland's safest cities based on their 'safety index'. The safety index is a rating from database Numbeo and is based on factors such as crime severity, concerns about specific crimes, perceived safety during daylight and nighttime, and the general perception of crime levels. A total of five Scottish cities are named in the roundup, with Edinburgh topping the experts' list. The Scottish capital was found to have a high 'safety index' score of 68.98. Meanwhile, Edinburgh was also reported as having a low 'crime index' of 30.99. The figure estimates the overall level of crime, with Reolink reporting that regular crime reports in the city include theft, dishonesty, and house break-ins. The experts also report that a high number of Edinburgh residents feel safe living in the city. Reolink states that more than 82 per cent of locals feel secure. Reolink stated: "Edinburgh is ranked as the safest city in Scotland. It has a safety index of 68.98 according to Numbeo, with the lowest crime index of 30.99. It usually reports cases of theft, dishonesty, house break-ins, and offenses. "According to the reports, over 82 per cent of the residents feel safe living there. It's a student-friendly city where continuous patrolling has been done in heavy traffic areas." Coming in at number two on the experts' roundup is Aberdeen. According to the report, the Granite City has a safety index score of 63.20. Meanwhile, placing third on the list is Inverness. Reolink states that the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands has a safety index score of 62.13. Following behind as the fourth "safest" city in Scotland according to Reolink is Glasgow. Scotland's biggest city was found to have a safety index score of 54.56, with a "moderate crime rate". Dundee rounds out the list at number five, with a safety index of 51.40. According to Reolink, Dundee has a higher crime rate than other cities on the roundup due to "an increase in theft and house break-in cases". Reolink added: "Safety ranks as one of the major concerns for people visiting and living in Scotland. It is necessary to inquire about the safety of everywhere you stay or travel. "You must pre-check the location with the help of stats or the information we have provided." Edinburgh Aberdeen Inverness Glasgow Dundee

Turkey teeth bender blunder as Brit arrested and stranded over 'stupid mistake'
"I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter." A British woman was thrown in a Turkish jail cell after trashing a hotel room during a drunken bender to celebrate the new teeth her boyfriend had got in the country. Georgia Harrison and Arron Tighe celebrated his new £2,000 smile by knocking back drinks in Antalya, Turkey, while on a week-long trip to the city. But four days in the 32-year-olds, from Rochdale, sobered up, and discovered they had smashed their shower to pieces while drunk, according to The Mirror. They attempted to leg it to the airport in a cab, only to be nicked as they tried fleeing the Lexia Hotel. Georgia, who cleans for a living, reckons she made 'the worst mistake of my life' that evening by mixing her drink with antipsychotic meds. That caused her to lose consciousness and and 'throw things around' in the room, shattering a full length glass bathroom screen, reports the Daily Star. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Chatting with MailOnline, she confessed: 'It's driving me insane, I feel like I have got no way out of here. I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter. "I just feel so weak and I'm getting nowhere, it's killing me. I understand I have done wrong but I'm not a bank robber or a drug smuggler - I made a stupid mistake, I don't even remember doing it, but I have done all I can to fix it." After their arrest, they allege they were detained in a police cell for days, interrogated without legal representation, and accused of resisting arrest because she wouldn't respond to questions. Subsequently, they were dragged before a judge and prohibited from leaving the country until they settle a £15,000 bill with the hotel. In dire straits, they reached out to the British Embassy. Staff were unable to lift the travel ban and it was suggested they seek legal counsel. They forked out £2,500 for a lawyer who vowed to resolve the issue, yet six weeks on, they remain stranded in Turkey, unable to depart. Georgia, a mother to 12-year-old Poppy, is distraught as her daughter repeatedly phones to enquire when she'll return home, prompting Georgia to initiate a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs so she can fly back. She expressed her anguish: "It's heartbreaking, she doesn't understand why I can't come home. Sometimes I think I'm never going to get back to her." On her GoFundMe page, Georgia penned: "I feel so ashamed writing this but my daughter needs me and this is my only hope. I feel like giving up but that's not me, yet I also feel so lucky to be alive. "I put all faith in my lawyer giving him my power of attorney but l'm getting nowhere. I'm losing everything slowly, even my will to live. I just need to get home to my baby and my dog. "I don't understand how such a stupid mistake has led me here. It is illegal for them to keep me here and I've no option but to start telling my story."

Creepy paedo dad who groomed Scots schoolgirl moved 400 miles to be closer to her
James Gillies, made contact with the Kirriemuir-based child through Instagram after breaking up with his long-term partner in Gwynedd, Wales. A cunning paedophile groomed a 14-year-old girl before moving 400 miles to live in the same Scottish town as her and target her for sexual abuse. James Gillies, made contact with the Kirriemuir-based child through Instagram after breaking up with his long-term partner in Gwynedd, Wales. He has been locked up after he admitted spending months grooming the child before sexually assaulting her on a bus when they were the only passengers. Fiscal depute Andrew Brown told Dundee Sheriff Court that Gillies was vaguely known to the girl and she showed his initial contact message to a member of her family. "He asked what she was up to," Mr Brown said. "She was advised not to reply, but she ignored that advice and replied. The conversation then moved on to Snapchat. "The accused sent naked images of himself, of his penis, and dressed only in boxers. They looked like they were taken in a bathroom or shower. "He stated he was moving to Kirriemuir and had ended a 13-year relationship as there was no sexual chemistry with his partner and he didn't like living in Wales. "He asked her to be his girlfriend and asked her to marry him. Her mother found out and was not happy about this and they fell out," the fiscal depute said. "In February 2024 the accused moved to Kirriemuir. They began meeting regularly at the bandstand in the public park. This was between 8 and 9 at night or during school hours. "She would skip school or they would meet at the lunch break. He would kiss her lips and neck. He would unzip her gilet and put his hands up her top, kissing and sucking her breasts. She stated she was not ready for this." Mr Brown said they were on a bus together when Gillies digitally penetrated her vagina, which she later said had left her "freaked out." The girl was upset by what Gillies had done and she told a friend who reported it to her mother. Social workers also received a report about her being seen holding hands with an older man. Gillies told police he enjoyed the attention and said: "I admit to it. Sometimes I encouraged her and if someone did the same to my daughters they would be a dirty man. "I should never have done it because of her age. I'm 42 and she's 14." Mr Brown said: "He stated he wished it had never happened, but said there was no point lying about it." Gillies admitted that between 1 October 2023 and 1 February 2024 he coerced the girl into looking at sexual images by sending her pictures of his naked body and penis. He also admitted that on two occasions in February last year he engaged in sexual activity with the schoolgirl and he was remanded in custody for background reports. Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith deferred sentence for reports and said: "The court is faced with a man, who, at the age of 42 engaged a 14-year-old girl in communication and travelled from Wales to Scotland. "He formed a relationship with a girl he knew to be under the age of consent. Custody is inevitable," he said, as he described Gillies' behaviour as "sinister."
