Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, said India needed to prepare for fifth-generation warfare and highlighted the importance of drones.
Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Capability Development & Sustenance), Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, said on Friday that future wars could involve a 'computer nerd controlling the entire thing" as the nature of warfare continues to evolve, as seen in recent conflicts in Israel, Iran and Ukraine.
The top military official made the remarks while speaking on India's Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in May after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April.
Speaking at the 'New Age Military Technologies' event organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Lt Gen Singh described Op Sindoor as a 'master stroke that was played to stop the war at an appropriate time."
The senior military officer elaborated on strategic thinking and intricate planning based on extensive intelligence gathering. The operation was deliberately designed as a tri-services approach involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force to 'send the right message that we indeed are an integrated force," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The official also emphasised that India needed to prepare for fifth-generation warfare, saying that future conflicts could involve 'a computer nerd, maybe perhaps sitting in one part of the country and controlling the entire thing."
He also highlighted the growing importance of drone technology in modern warfare and called for increased investment in research and development. 'There are so many components that we still bank upon getting from outside. Secret technology, engines we are grappling with… we need to invest in these things," he added.
Lt Gen Singh also said China gave Islamabad 'live inputs" on key Indian positions during the deadly conflict. He said Pakistan was the 'front face" during Operation Sindoor while China provided 'all possible support".
The top official pointed to the adversaries India is up against and said while conflict was taking place on one border (western), there were three adversaries — Pakistan, China and Turkey, as the latter two provided military hardware and drones to the Pakistani army.
Pakistani officials had previously dismissed allegations of receiving active support from China in the conflict, but have not commented specifically on whether Beijing gave any satellite and radar help during the fighting.

Asim Munir's seminary education shapes his world view & India policy

Pakistan army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir's repeated references to religion while analysing foreign policy and relations with India is a reflection of his seminary education that shapes his world is the only Pakistani army chief so far who has had a stint in a seminary as a student and takes pride in the fact that he is a 'hafiz' (one who can recite Quran by heart). His father was a school principal, a mohajir who came to Rawalpindi from Jalandhar in 1947 and also served as an imam at a mosque. He went to Markazi Madrasah Dar-ul-Tajweed, an Islamic seminary in Rawalpindi, for his early education, indicating that Munir was raised in a deeply religious at public events, including those involving Pakistani diaspora, Munir often incorporates Quranic verses and Islamic theology into his speeches, switching between English, Urdu and classical Arabic. This is uncommon even by the standards of the Pakistani military history. Munir reportedly quoted verses from Quran several times during a diaspora meet in the US during his recent visit there. Munir often quotes religious texts and contexts from history to describe current events and relations with India, reviving memories of the two-nation theory. He openly brandished religion with a goal to pit Pakistan against India based on the theory of partition. Munir has all characteristics of positioning himself on the lines of Md Ali Jinnah, Gen Zia-ul-Haq and Gen Pervez Musharraf as the 'administrator' of Pakistan. But critics alleged that while Munir's predecessors have promoted jihadists and Islamists against India, most of them were suave compared to him. While Munir has positioned himself as Pakistan's chief diplomat in the post-Sindoor period, he does not appear to operate in a modern nation state construct, according to a Pakistan Pakistan's creation in 1947, the country has awarded the five-star rank of field marshal only once—to Ayub Khan. Munir has become the second field marshal of the country. And when he speaks, it is with deep emotion and conviction.

Indian Navy starts massive naval exercise near Arabian Sea, Pakistan should be worried because...

Indian Navy ship- File image Indian Navy vs Pakistan Navy: In a massive development after India conducted Operation Sindoor against Pakistan sponsored terrorists, the navies of India and Pakistan will be facing each other in the Arabian Sea as they will be carrying out separate drills at the same time. As per a report carried by ANI news agency, both India and Pakistan have issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs) for carrying out drills in the Arabian Sea in their respective territorial areas. 'Indian Navy warships would be carrying out drills in the Arabian Sea on August 11-12. Pakistan Navy has also issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for carrying out its own naval exercises in its waters,' the ANI report quoted Indian Navy sources as saying. Why has Indian Navy issued NOTAM? For a basic understanding, a NOTAM is issued by a Navy when air traffic movement is restricted for a certain period of time. Notably, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists. The report also said that India repelled the subsequent Pakistani retaliation and pounded its airbases. India has said that cessation of hostilities came after Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called up his Indian counterpart, and there was no third-party mediation. INS Tamal concludes port visit to Casablanca In another significant development, the Indian Navy's newest stealth frigate, INS Tamal, has concluded a three-day port visit to Morocco's Casablanca, during her return passage from Russia to India. During the port call from August 6-9, the ship participated in several activities focused on furthering cooperation and collaboration between the navies of India and Morocco. BJP has won trust of all sections of society, says Madhav

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president P.V.N. Madhav on Monday said the BJP has emerged as an indomitable political force, winning the trust of people from all sections of society by upholding its motto of treating every citizen equally, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. Mr. Madhav was in the city to take part in the 'Chai Pe Charcha' programme, garland the statue of Cattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy — founder of Andhra University and noted economist — and interact with party cadres. Addressing party workers at a private function hall, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration has demonstrated inclusivity by shunning all forms of discrimination against any community or State. He dismissed the Opposition's allegations against Mr. Modi and the BJP government as 'illogical,' and rejected the claim that the party is anti-minority. Mr. Madhav said several Central government welfare schemes launched under Mr. Modi — including PM Kisan Bima, PM Awas Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana, and PM Weavers Scheme — have reached every corner of the country, benefiting farmers, women, and households across communities. Highlighting 'Operation Sindoor' as a strategic measure against cross-border terrorism, he said Mr. Modi's leadership has strengthened national security and put the country on a path to compete with global economic powers. He urged BJP workers to actively spread awareness about the party's development and welfare initiatives, and to draw continuous inspiration from Mr. Modi's leadership. Referring to Rayalaseema's concerns, he said he would press the State government to expedite the completion of the Handri–Neeva irrigation project. Earlier in the day, Mr. Madhav joined a rally from the Railway underbridge junction to the Gandhi Bomma Junction, accompanied by a large number of party leaders and cadres.
