Former Texas A&M OF is off to a hot start in A+ minor league play

Yahoo16-05-2025

Former Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery was recently promoted from the Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers to High-A Winston-Salem Dash, and he is off to an extremely hot start.
Just days after joining the South Atlantic League squad, Braden Montgomery is making his presence felt in Minor League Baseball. In just a handful of games, his stats are turning heads with a .360/.467/.760 slash line. He showcased his power with his first multi-home run game as a pro, launching two homers in a 7-3 victory over Bowling Green on Tuesday.

Montgomery was once projected as the No. 1 overall pick before suffering a broken ankle just months before the 2025 MLB Draft. Despite the setback, his talent remains undeniable. Before taking his first pro swing, he was involved in a blockbuster trade, moving from the Boston Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox.
So far, the trade appears to be paying off for the White Sox. Montgomery's ability to drive the ball to all fields is proving to be a major asset, and his power-hitting potential could be exactly what the White Sox farm system needs. If he continues his rapid development, he may soon be knocking on the door of the Major Leagues. Jesse Borek of MLB Pipeline had this to say when talking about the trade.
...it's Montgomery and his tantalizing power potential that could serve as the jewel of the trade, giving the White Sox that homegrown impact bat they seek."
Could Montgomery be the next big star for the Chicago White Sox? His hot start suggests he has all the tools to make a significant impact.

ChatGPT AI-driven NBA Mock Draft has Jase Richardson landing just outside lottery

ChatGPT AI-driven NBA Mock Draft has Jase Richardson landing just outside lottery ChatGPT AI is predicting Jase Richardson to land just outside the lottery in the upcoming NBA Draft. USA TODAY Sports released their latest NBA Mock Draft driven by ChatGPT AI, and Richardson landed right about where most human draft experts are predicting. The computer model had Richardson going No. 17 overall to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Richardson starred for the Spartans during his lone season in college, playing a massive part in Michigan State winning the Big Ten and reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Richardson averaged 12.1 points per game and shot above 40% from three-point range, which raised his draft stock to where it was a no-brainer to enter the NBA Draft and leave after just one year. Richardson has been commonly mocked to land anywhere from late lottery pick to late first round pick. Most of the recent mock drafts I've came across have him landing just outside the lottery like we saw here from USA TODAY Sports' ChatGPT AI mock draft. The NBA Draft will be held on July 25 and 26 in Brooklyn. The draft will be televised on ABC and ESPN. Notre Dame is not on Claude Mpouma's top-five list

Notre Dame is not on Claude Mpouma's top-five list The Fighting Irish appear to be missing out on top o-line prospect Four-star offensive line prospect Claude Mpouma has a top-five list for his potential school choices, and Notre Dame isn't on it. This despite the Fighting Irish making him an offer as they try to deepen ties with his high school -- Mount Carmel in Chicago The 6-foot-8, 305-pound Mpouma's list includes Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Florida and Auburn. That's a blow for Notre Dame, which has built its recent success around offensive line play. The Irish could always use another four-star recruit. The Mount Carmel Caravan is often one of the strongest teams in Illinois, so it's likely that Notre Dame will keep trying to recruit players from the school. But it looks like head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff have missed out on Mpouma. Pair of BTN analysts pick Spartans to finish in bottom half of Big Ten this season

Pair of BTN analysts pick Spartans to finish in bottom half of Big Ten this season A pair of analysts at the Big Ten Network both are expecting the Spartans to finish in the bottom half of the league this upcoming season. Big Ten football analysts Jake Booty and Adam Breneman released their predicted Big Ten standings for the upper half of the league this upcoming year, and to little surprise neither had the Spartans included. Both left Michigan State outside of the top half of the league, with teams like Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota getting the nod over the Spartans. Check out their predicted Big Ten standings upper half in the post below: Michigan State has been projected by many to be a bottom half Big Ten team heading into this season. So Booty and Breneman are right in line with the common pick for Michigan State. The Spartans will open the 2025 season on August 29 against in-state foe Western Michigan. Kickoff from Spartan Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET with the game set to be televised on FS1.
