The installation of these cameras has been strategically distributed across various key areas of the city.
For instance, 100 cameras have been placed in Satpur, Ambad, and Indiranagar areas. Sarkarwada now has 32 cameras, while Chunchale is covered by 52 cameras. As many as 156 cameras have been deployed across Nashik Road, Upnagar, Deolali Camp, Panchavati, and Adgaon areas.
Currently, another 84 cameras are in the process of being installed in the Bhadrakali area, further expanding the reach of the surveillance network.
This comprehensive surveillance will expand even more with the help of the Smart City project. As part of this initiative, 1,300 additional CCTV cameras have already been installed at 350 different locations. These cameras are soon expected to become fully functional, integrating with the police's existing and planned network.
The combined effort will provide extensive and robust security coverage across the entire city of Nashik, enhancing public safety significantly.
A police officer, while talking to TOI, said, "With the exception of cameras in the Bhadrakali area, where plans are afoot for live transmission to the Bhadrakali police station, other cameras will be standalone with the capacity to store the footage for about a month.
"
The officer added, "Thus, the police can check the footage of the cameras as and when required. While investigating a crime, the police generally take help of CCTV cameras to check from where the criminals may have arrived and in which direction they left after committing a crime."

The city police are getting the cameras installed from various companies using their Corporation Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. Under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik, the police are also appealing to the citizens, shopkeepers, and other traders to install cameras that capture the area in front of their respective establishments.

Bouncers Assault Man, His Cousin At Club In CP

New Delhi: A night out at an upscale club in central Delhi's Connaught Place turned violent for a 23-year-old man and his cousin after they were allegedly assaulted and thrown out by bouncers. The alleged incident took place in the early hours of July 2. The complainant, a resident of west Delhi's Tilak Nagar, told police he had gone to the club post-midnight on July 1 with his cousin, a 32-year-old woman. The two were at the venue until about 4am when the alleged incident occurred. According to the FIR, the altercation began after the visitor went to use the restroom and noticed that the flush was broken and water was spilling. A cleaner confronted him, accusing him of damaging the flush. "I told him it was already not working. I even shut off the flush myself," the man said in his complaint. When he resisted and asked why he was being manhandled, they allegedly dragged him further away and began assaulting him with kicks and punches. The man's cousin rushed to intervene, but she was allegedly beaten as well. "They threatened to kill me. Both of us were then thrown out of the hotel gate," he alleged in his complaint. The man then dialled the police helpline 112, following which a PCR team arrived at the spot. The two cousins, who were found standing outside the hotel, were taken to a hospital for treatment. According to the FIR, their medical reports noted injuries "allegedly due to physical assault by unknown bouncers" at the club around 4.30am. The duo later approached Connaught Place police station and submitted a formal complaint. A case was registered under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of BNS. Police said CCTV footage from the hotel premises is being examined to verify the sequence of events. The exact trigger for the assault remains under investigation. When contacted, there was no response from the club. The hotel, which owns the premises leased out to the club, told TOI, "The club is not affiliated with our hotel and operates entirely as an independent entity. It is rented out by the owning company of the hotel… Our concern lies with the safety of the club's guests, and we are fully cooperating with the authorities during their investigation."

Rape survivor still in trauma as college reopens doors

Kolkata: The survivor of the June 25 college gang rape remains traumatised and "extremely scared" of the main perpetrator of the crime even as the campus where it occurred tries to get back to a semblance of normalcy. The survivor's father spoke to TOI in detail on Monday, the day when the law college reopened for the first time after the discovery of the crime. "She keeps asking me just one question: 'What will happen to me if the monster (prime accused Monojit Mishra) gets out of jail?' She is still in severe trauma," he added. The family was focused on two things — helping the legal process get justice for their daughter and supporting her through this traumatic period — the dad said. "We want to refrain from commenting on the court's decision (after the trial is over) but we strongly believe that the culprit and his associates should receive the maximum possible punishment," he added. One held for attempt to vandalise Gandhi statue at Pune railway station; Cong workers gather to protest

Pune: Police arrested a man for his attempt to vandalise Mahatma Gandhi 's statue on the premises of Pune railway station on Sunday night, bringing Congress workers together in a demonstration at the very spot on Monday. Police said the person had a chopper on him. He climbed the statue and tried to vandalise it. Citizens managed to pull him down and handed him over to the police, who identified him as Suraj Shukla from Varanasi. Shukla stays in the Vishrantwadi area with his family. Speaking to TOI, deputy commissioner of police Milind Mohite said, "Shukla's wife works in an IT firm, while he sells rudraksha. His family had gone to Varanasi a few days ago, but he stayed back. He went to Wai in Satara and purchased the chopper. We have seized the weapon, a mobile phone and books from him for further investigation. There are some discrepancies in his statements, indicating he may not be mentally stable. " You Can Also Check: Pune AQI | Weather in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune Police said Shukla does not have a criminal record and they are investigating the reason behind his recent act. There was anger among many, especially political parties, towards the incident. NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar said, "This is not the first time Mahatma Gandhi is under attack. There have been several attempts in the past to finish the leader's thoughts, but all attempts have failed. Gandhian thought will continue to inspire people of India, despite such attempts." Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Ambadas Danve said, "Respect for Mahatma Gandhi is not limited to India, but spreads worldwide. It is a shame that such an incident happened in Maharashtra. It also shows the deteriorating law and order situation of the state." Meanwhile, Pune unit members of Congress protested the incident near the Gandhi statue on Monday. City unit president Arvind Shinde said, "Such incidents are a result of hatred being spread by the alliance which has formed the govt. Police say Shukla is mentally unstable, but we do not accept the explanation. If he was mentally unstable, how could he purchase a weapon and vandalise Mahatma Gandhi's statue, but no other? He is following a certain ideology and that is why he did what he did. " The court of judicial magistrate first class GR Dornapalli on Monday sentenced Suraj Anand Shukla (34) to seven days of simple imprisonment and he was sent to Yerawada central jail. Shukla (34) was also fined Rs1,000 for making contemptuous remarks when produced in court.
