Tumakuru to merge with Bengaluru? Here's what Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said
The Karnataka government has initiated steps to merge Tumakuru district with Bengaluru, signalling a major administrative reshuffle aimed at accommodating the capital's rapid expansion.
State Home Minister G Parameshwara said he has submitted a proposal to convert Tumakuru into 'Bengaluru North' district, news agency ANI reported. He noted that Bengaluru's growth is steadily extending to neighbouring cities such as Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur.
'Bengaluru city has already expanded beyond Nelamangala. Tumakuru is just 30 km away. In such a situation, the difference between 'Tumakuru district' and 'Bengaluru North district' becomes significant. For those abroad, like in New York, the term 'Bengaluru North' is easier to identify. That's why such a proposal has been made,' he explained.

Parameshwara added that a plan to bring 14 gram panchayats under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) jurisdiction is already in the works. 'Tumakuru city will expand its administrative reach in the coming days,' he said.
He also praised Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for successfully proposing the inclusion of Ramanagara into Bengaluru South district. 'The government has already approved and issued an order for this. Once an area is named Bengaluru South, its profile changes. A similar approach is being considered for Tumakuru,' he said.
Separately, on Monday, Parameshwara informed that he has approached Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for permission to construct a 'Welcome' arch on the National Highway in Tumakuru. He said ₹5 crore has been allocated from the Smart City project for the arch, which will be built near Sadashivanagar in Tumakuru district.

MP: Railway over bridge with around 90 degree turn design in Bhopal sparks row, opposition questions
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 12 (ANI): A railway over bridge constructed nearly after a decade-long wait in Aishbagh locality in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal has hit the headlines and sparked a controversy due to its design having around 90 degrees sharp turn. The Opposition Congress party raised questions on the design of the overbridge saying the government should wake up before it becomes a ground of death. The bridge design is such that vehicles will have to take almost 90 degree sharp turns, resulting in the bridge being seen as an accident point. The Railway Overbridge is about 648 meters long and 8 meters wide. It has been built at a cost of Rs 18 crore. Nonetheless, state PWD (Public Works Department) minister Rakesh Singh said it was a five years old project and its design was already prepared though it was inspected by NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) and further action would be initiated based on the report. Speaking to ANI, MP Congress Chief Jitu Patwari, 'How did the department (PWD) accept this kind of design? There is a BJP government in the state and their real thinking and mind can be understood. Still, the government should wake up and punish the people who created such a design with the public's hard-earned money. The government should get up before it becomes a death ground.' 'Railway officials raised objections over the design but the railway officials have not stopped them (PWD). They are equally responsible for this mistake,' he added. Meanwhile, state PWD Minister Rakesh Singh said that the NHAI inspected the bridge on Wednesday and its report was likely to arrive today. Action into the matter will be taken based on it. 'It is a 5 year old project and its drawing design was already prepared. Though NHAI inspected it yesterday and its report will arrive today. Further action will be taken based on the report,' the minister told ANI. According to the information, it is being said that at the time of construction, the railways had raised objections to the design, but the PWD ignored it citing lack of space. This bridge construction is being considered as the negligence of the PWD. (ANI)

"He is the only PM who tells lies, entire India knows this": Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 12 (ANI): Backing Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday said the PM is known for making false claims and 'entire India knows this.' Speaking to reporters, Minister Reddy said, 'He is the only PM who tells lies. Entire India knows people are liars. Why do you give prominence to those people?' Responding to a question on the recent stampede incident in Bengaluru, Reddy said it would not be appropriate to comment at this stage as an official investigation is underway. 'Already, an inquiry is going on. It's better not to comment on it now,' the minister said. Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier sharpened his attack on Prime Minister Modi, marking the completion of 11 years of the BJP-led government at the Centre. Drawing from his decades-long political experience, Kharge alleged that he had 'never seen a Prime Minister who lies so much.' The Congress President said that he had been in politics for 65 years and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been deceiving the youth and securing votes by luring the poor. Kharge added, 'I had been saying this in Parliament for a long time, and I had never seen a Prime Minister who lied so much, made so many mistakes, trapped people, deceived the youth, and took votes by misleading them. I had been in politics for 65 years. He lied about everything, and not a single promise was implemented.' Furthermore, the Congress President highlighted that PM Narendra Modi did not respond whenever he was questioned on issues such as demonetisation, MSP, or unemployment. 'When we asked him, he did not have any answers--whether it was about demonetisation, unemployment, or MSP. There were so many such issues. He never told the people that he had misled them.
