The American midfielder is one of the key Pittodrie players who is out-of-contract at the end of the season
Aberdeen are set to open contract talks with Dante Polvara and several others of their Scottish Cup-winning squad after the transfer window closes.

The influential midfielder is one of the Pittodrie players who is out-of-contract at the end of the season.

The American is a key member of Jimmy Thelin 's squad and the Dons will look to extend his current deal.

The 25-year-old, who is a fans' favourite, is also known to be happy at Aberdeen.
Polvara is now getting up to top gear and full fitness after coming back from serious injury last season.
He has already made an impression off the bench in the opening games against Hearts and Celtic.
Polvara didn't come on against Morton in the Premier Sports Cup win on Saturday but that was more of a precaution as he had been sick during the week.
He will be very much part of the plans for Thursday night's Europa League first-leg play-off with FCSB at Pittodrie.
The Dons have already opened talks with winger Shayden Morris, who is also out-of-contract this summer.

He has been the subject of several failed bids from Luton Town in recent weeks.
Those contract talks are also set to be pushed on after the transfer window closes.
Captain Graeme Shinnie, Ester Sokler and Ryan Duncan are other Aberdeen players who are in the final year of their contract.
They have the option to buy him for a club record £1.5 million come the end of the season.
Slobodan Rubezic is also out-of-contract but is expected to complete a move to Polish side Korona Kielce.

REVEALED: The left-field ex-Don who helped convince Adil Aouchiche to sign for Aberdeen

Adil Aouchiche has revealed the wildcard former Aberdeen striker whose praise for the club was a 'main step' in him deciding to join the Dons. French attacking midfielder Aouchiche, 23, is on a season-long loan from English Premier League new boys Sunderland. The Dons hold an option-to-buy the former Paris Saint-Germain talent from the Black Cats for a Reds club-record fee of £1.5 million next summer – should he impress sufficiently this term. Though Aouchiche is already a Ligue 1, French Cup and English Championship play-offs winner – who used to train daily in Paris with global superstar forwards like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – it was, surprisingly, a left-field ex-Aberdeen fringe frontman who encouraged his switch to the Dons. Aouchiche said: 'Mo(hamed) Chalali is the best friend of one of my cousins, so I had the chance to speak to him on FaceTime. 'It was good – a really important step for me. He said good things about the club and the people here. 'It was one of the main steps of this move because I didn't really know what is happening inside the club, so I was happy to hear good things.' French-born Algeria-capped forward Chalali was brought to Aberdeen by Craig Brown in 2011, and in a season with the Dons, scored twice in 15 starts. While Chalali also sounded out current English Championship and Premier League players about Scottish football and Aberdeen, fans will likely be delighted to hear of this fresh Chalali contribution to the Reds cause. Aouchiche started in the no.10 role in Aberdeen's Premiership campaign-opening 2-0 defeats to both Hearts and Celtic. In what was a decent Dons start against the champions at Pittodrie on Saturday, Aouchiche was lively and had one curling effort from range saved by Hoops keeper Kasper Schmeichel. The Frenchman says he is more focused on winning, scoring and creating chances for the Reds this term than fixating on where his future beyond this season may lie – or feeling any pressure from his potential Aberdeen-record pricetag. He said: 'I don't really focus on how much it is, but, of course, both clubs are confident about this move and the transfer. 'I just care about what I do on the pitch and how I can help the club. 'That decision will be at the end of the season. I'll just focus on my football and see what happens. 'Of course, I am glad to be a player the club is putting good money on, so that's a motivation for me. 'The club wants to buy me, which is always good for a player to know. 'I don't see that as pressure, I know the pressure of football and I'm used to being in this type of position. 'I just need to be myself, enjoy on the pitch. 'From being a young kid, I just wanted to play football, win games, score in games and create goals. 'I just wanted to enjoy on the pitch and I think being here will be good for me.' Aouchiche accepts Aberdeen and a Saturday trip to Championship Greenock Morton in the Premier Sports Cup is a departure from the glamour of Paris' Parc des Princes, first leaving for three years with Saint-Etienne, before a season at Lorient, then joining Sunderland in 2023. However, the playmaker – who also had a loan spell across the English second-tier with Portsmouth last term, thinks his football experiences, good and bad, will help him bring value to Aberdeen – while he can also continue to develop with the Dons. He said: 'I came from one of the best clubs in the world in PSG, played for two good clubs in France and a huge club in England in Sunderland. 'So I want to bring my experience to Aberdeen. 'The things I learned will help me for the rest of my career – sometimes it was hard and other times it was good. 'For me, as a player, it was good for me to be sometimes at the bottom.' Aouchiche also still believes he can rise back up to football's upper echelons. He added: 'I think I have the possibilities and the qualities to go to one of the best clubs in the world. 'I'm not scared about the situation because I think it's a really good step for me in my career.'

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin makes Europa League play-off homegrown player admission

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin admits he could go into the Europa League play-offs without Uefa's required quota of homegrown players. The Dons face Romanian club FCSB in the play-offs with the first leg at Pittodrie on Thursday. The hom grown rule states a squad competing in Uefa competition must include a minimum of eight 'locally trained' players in their 25-man squad list. Uefa's criteria is split into two sub-categories: club-trained and association-trained, with clubs required to have four of each. The club-trained players must have been at a club for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21. Association-trained players must have been at another Scottish club for the same period – three years from 15 to 21. At present, Aberdeen have one club-trained player in Jack Milne, with two association-trained in captain Graeme Shinnie and Nicky Devlin. Uefa rules dictate if a club have fewer than eight players in both sub-categories, the overall squad limit of 25 must be reduced accordingly. That could lead to Thelin being forced to leave out some experienced players for the clash against FCSB. The deadline to register players for the Europa League play-offs is 11pm on Friday (August 15). However, there is scope to add a further two new signings by 11pm on the day before the play-off first leg. Aberdeen have agreed a deal to sign striker Marko Lazetic from Italian giants AC Milan, but the process has been delayed due to VISA red tape. Asked if he will not be able to meet the Scottish homegrown criteria for the Europa League play-off, Thelin said: 'Right now it is (not going to be possible). 'We have one squad for the play-offs, and then for the group stage, we can change. 'So let's see what happens within the squad by the last deadline day. 'Will I have to leave some of our experienced players out? It depends -we will see how it goes with the injuries. 'It is all about that now. 'Right now, when everyone is healthy, we'll have to see what happens with movement in and out and the squad, when we are done. 'The play-off is quite close. 'We can still make changes until 24 hours before the first game, so things could still happen.' Aberdeen have agreed a free transfer for AC Milan's Serbian under-21 international Lazetic. The 21-year-old has a year left on his contract, but the Italian giants are willing to let him exit for nothing, but with a 20% sell-on clause. AC Milan initially wanted a 50% sell-on, but the Dons negotiated them down. Lazetic is poised to arrive in Aberdeen, but it has been delayed due to VISA red tape. Thelin said: 'We know the situation, that's the way it is. 'I never feel frustrated, I accept the rules. 'If things happen, they happen. 'You have to be optimistic, positive and look at the players you have, not what you don't have.' Aberdeen boss Thelin completed an eighth signing of the summer transfer window, securing winger Kenan Bilalović on a five-year contract from IFK Värnamo. The Reds splashed out a fee understood to be £550,000 for the Swedish youth international. Bilalovic will not be available for the Premier Sports Cup second round clash away to Greenock Morton on Saturday as his work permit has yet to be processed. Thelin said: 'We are working always on two parts to create value for our squad, inside our squad and Kenan is a potential player. 'It is a long contract and he will grow in our environment, so he needs some time. 'However, he has a good trait for what we need in the characteristics of the player, with his speed, technique and his directness of the game. 'Of course, he needs some time to adapt, but we have a strong belief in him for the future. 'Kenan is waiting for his VISA, so he is not available yet.' Defenders Mats Knoester, Kristers Tobers and summer signing Emmanuel Gyamfi are all ruled out of the trip to Morton due to injury. Aberdeen's clash at Morton is the first cup match since winning the Scottish Cup with a penalty shoot-out triumph against Celtic at Hampden in May. Thelin will not underestimate the threat of the Championship side. He said: 'You always have to be humble and professional when you go into this game. 'Of course, the pressure is on us, but we have to be our best, always. 'It doesn't matter in which cup or in the league. 'Everybody in Aberdeen knows that, so it's no change for us. 'We're going to prepare this game like everything else.'
