BN still in talks with GRS, others on Sabah polls
KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) is in discussions with various parties about working together in the coming Sabah election, including with the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition wanted to have more allies than enemies, which was why it continued to meet other parties.
"No door should be opened too wide, nor should any door be shut too tightly," he told a press conference after officiating the Sabah Women Empowerment programme today.
"In other words, negotiations are ongoing, and we hope for positive outcomes. However, details cannot be finalised at this stage because the State Assembly has not yet been dissolved.
"When the time comes, we will conclude all the meetings and negotiations we are currently holding," said Ahmad Zahid, who is also Deputy Prime Minister.
He was asked about the progress of BN's talks with other parties ahead of the Sabah election, which must be held this year.
So far, BN and Pakatan Harapan have confirmed that they would work together in the polls.
GRS, on the other hand, has expressed its intent to maintain cooperation with PH but said it was ready to go it alone should negotiations with other parties fall through.
Tensions between Sabah BN and GRS have been running high after Sabah Umno chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, said they would not work with GRS in the polls.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid declined to comment on the number of seats BN was seeking to contest in the polls, though he confirmed the coalition would be using its "dacing" logo.
Also present were Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

Also present were Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang, Majlis Amanah Rakyat chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Sabah Community Development Department (Kemas) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin. High Court orders transfer of land title from Tun M and three other trustees to Umno
Umno and the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office Registrar had agreed to resolve the matter by way of a consent judgment. 24 Jun 2025 04:10pm Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex. - BERNAMA FILE PIX KUALA LUMPUR - The High Court here today ordered that a 9,723-square metre parcel of land in the capital, previously registered in the names of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, Tun Musa Hitam, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the late Tan Sri Sanusi Junid as trustees, be transferred to Umno. Justice Roz Mawar Rozain made the order after Umno's counsel, Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun, informed the court that the applicant (Umno) and the respondent (Federal Territories Land and Mines Office Registrar) had agreed to resolve the matter by way of a consent judgment. "Accordingly, the court records the parties' consent judgment, and the transfer of title is to be effected within 30 days," Justice Roz Mawar said during the proceedings, which were also attended by Umno's co-counsel, Norhazira Abu Haiyan. According to the draft consent order obtained by the media, ownership of the property is to be transferred and registered in the name of Umno, together with all rights, interests and title therein, under Section 9(b) of the Societies Act 1966. The High Court ordered that a 9,723-square metre parcel of land in the capital, previously registered in the names of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, Tun Musa Hitam, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the late Tan Sri Sanusi Junid as trustees, be transferred to Umno. On March 6, Umno's Secretary of Works, Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan, filed an originating summons seeking a court order for the transfer of title to Grant 78154, Lot 40, Section 51, Bandar Kuala Lumpur, registered in the names of four trustees, to Umno under Clause 27.1 of the United Malays National Organisation Constitution and Section 9 of the Societies Act 1966. Umno also sought an order directing the Federal Territory Land Registrar or Land Administrator to effect the transfer by entering a memorial in the title document. In his supporting affidavit, Mohd Sumali stated that under Form Schedule 17, an application for approval to transfer the land dated Oct 27, 2015, together with a statutory declaration dated Oct 22, 2015, was executed and affirmed by all four trustees. He further affirmed that two of the trustees, Tan Sri Sanusi Junid and Tun Daim Zainuddin, have since passed away, on March 9, 2018, and Nov 13, 2024, respectively. According to Mohd Sumali, the then office bearers of Umno, namely the President, Deputy President, and Secretary-General, had agreed via a statutory declaration dated Dec 10, 2015, to have the property re-registered in the party's name. He added that a letter from the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office dated Dec 28, 2015, confirmed that the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Land Working Committee had approved the proposed transfer of title from the trustees to UMNO. However, the subsequent attempt to effect the transfer via Form 14A, dated April 25, 2016, submitted by UMNO's solicitors to the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office was rejected on May 18, 2017. He said the stated reason for the rejection was a discrepancy between the names listed on the land title and the corresponding names on the identity documents. - BERNAMA More Like This

Gagasan Rakyat confident of seizing Tanjung Aru from Warisan
Published on: Tuesday, June 24, 2025 Published on: Tue, Jun 24, 2025 By: Iskandar Dzulkifli Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: The Tanjung Aru Division of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) is confident that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition will reclaim the Tanjung Aru state seat in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17). Division committee member, Dr. Mohd Ritchie Jay Cheng, said the confidence stems from the coalition's consistent grassroots engagement and outreach efforts in the constituency. "We are confident that we can take back the Tanjung Aru seat from Warisan in the next state election, based on our ongoing efforts to connect with and serve the people here. "The people are able to judge for themselves which party is capable of delivering real progress for Sabah, as seen through the initiatives rolled out by the GRS-led government to benefit communities at all levels," he said. He made the remarks after handing over life jackets and signal lights to registered fishermen at Kampung Sembulan Lama on Sunday (22 June). Speaking on the aid distribution, Dr. Mohd Ritchie, who also chairs the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association, said a total of 150 units of similar aid were being distributed to fishermen in the area. Advertisement The initiative included 50 life jackets and signal lights each for fishermen in Kampung Sembulan Lama, Kampung Tanjung Aru, and Pulau Gaya. "We're concerned about the safety needs of fishermen, especially when out at sea. Life jackets and signal lights are essential for their protection," he said. He added that this was just the first phase of assistance, with plans underway to expand the programme to benefit more fishermen in the near future. The Tanjung Aru state seat is currently held by Datuk Junz Wong of Warisan, who won the seat for a second term during the 2018 state election. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
