Max Holloway finally got his get-back against Dustin Poirier at UFC 318 on Saturday when he emerged victorious from their trilogy bout.
After losing to Poirier (30-10 MMA, 22-9 UFC) by submission in 2012 and decision in 2019, Holloway (27-8 MMA, 23-8 UFC) made the most of his last chance at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans when he scored a METHOD win to successfully defend the BMF title and split the retirement moment of "The Diamond."
It marks a moment of triumph for Holloway as he fully commits his career to the lightweight division going forward, and now there are more big fights ahead for "Blessed," while Poirier says farewell to fighting after more than 15 years of competition.
Check below for the top X (formerly Twitter) reactions to Holloway's win and Poirier's retirement at UFC 318.

30-27? 🤔 #UFC318
High level fight 🔥🔥🔥#UFC318
Incredible Main event so far. Have Max up 3 rounds to 0 tho. #UFC318
I have it 40-36 for Holloway. That may appear lopsided and while the last three rounds have been very close, I have given Holloway a slight edge in all three.
The jab and hand fight of Dustin is helping the most…Max throwing 4 punch combos and moving laterally is keeping it super competitive! Could be 2-2 going into 5th. #UFC318
This is what the bmf belt is all about! #ufc318
2-2 🤷‍♂️ #UFC318
5 minutes left in Dustin Poirier's mixed martial arts career. Go for it all! #UFC318

Chris Weidman shuts down rumor of Anderson Silva boxing match: 'I know where it came from'

Contrary to ongoing reports, Chris Weidman is not set to fight Anderson Silva in a boxing match. Rumors emerged that Weidman would be lacing up the gloves against fellow former UFC middleweight champion Silva, but Weidman dismissed talk of a third fight happening. Weidman, who announced his retirement from MMA this past January, explained how those rumors might have spread. "No (it's not true)," Weidman told MMA Junkie. "I'm giving you all the news right now. A couple years ago, I got hit up by Anderson Silva's manager about doing a boxing match with him, and it was good money and everything, but I was in the UFC and I'm like, 'I can't do that.' He was like, 'OK, let me know when you're done.' That was always something I figured after I'm done maybe a boxing match here and there with some big names, make some good money. It would be fun. People would love to see me go against Anderson Silva again. His fans could see if he could get a win back on me and knock me out in boxing. That's more his thing, so why not? But that being said, no. I know where it came from because my manager did some research and found out. "When I went to a national wrestling tournament in Atlanta with my kids the other weekend, I'm talking to a million people, taking pictures, and somebody must have asked me, and I must have said this a few times in the last six months after I retired, 'What would you want to do next?' I'm like, 'I'm doing the analyst stuff, I'm done fighting. I don't think MMA is going to pay me enough money to come back and go through a training camp and getting my head jacked up.' I'm trying to save my brain cells. But a boxing match against some big names, some older dudes and guys like Anderson Silva, Luke Rockhold, Darren Till, guys I've had history with, that would be fun. I'd entertain it for good money. So someone ran with the Anderson Silva thing and just said I said it's set. I didn't say it's set. There's not talks. There's no dates set. I was just going to let them run with it cause maybe it ends up happening. But no, there's no talks that I know of." Weidman was the one to put an end to Silva's legendary run in the UFC middleweight division when he scored an upset knockout to claim the title at UFC 162. He then won their immediate rematch at UFC 168 by TKO due to injury when Silva brutally snapped his leg in Round 2. Could their be a trilogy in the ring? Weidman didn't dismiss that possibility. "I would be open to discussing that," Weidman said. "For good money, boxing Anderson Silva? I've got a lot of respect for him, and we've got a lot of history and if it's a fight people see, it would be fun. Let's do it. Why not?"

UFC to host first-ever White House fight next year, CEO Dana White says

President Donald Trump teased the possibility of a UFC fight on the White House grounds last month at an event kicking off a yearlong celebration for the United States' 250th birthday, which will include events across the country. White said he spoke with Trump about the plans Monday night, and that an in-person meeting is planned for later this month. Trump reached out to White about the fight and delegated planning to his daughter Ivanka Trump, White said.

Dana White says UFC hosting first-ever White House fight on July 4

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will stage a historic fight at the White House on July 4, 2026, marking America's 250th birthday with what would be the first professional mixed martial arts event ever held at the presidential residence, UFC CEO Dana White confirmed Tuesday. "It is definitely going to happen," White told "CBS Mornings." White said he spoke with President Donald Trump Monday night about the event and plans to meet with Mr. Trump and Ivanka Trump at the end of this month to finalize details and review venue renderings. A source familiar with the planning confirmed that the White House expected the event to happen. "When he called me and asked me to do it, he said, 'I want Ivanka in the middle of this,'" White said. "So Ivanka reached out to me, and her and I started talking about the possibilities, where it would be and, you know, I put together all the renderings." The announcement comes as UFC finalizes a groundbreaking seven-year streaming deal with Paramount worth an average of $1.1 billion annually. The agreement represents a significant shift from UFC's traditional pay-per-view model, with select events to be simulcast on CBS. White called the Paramount deal "one of the massive, major milestones in my career and in the history of the sport." White said the media world is changing but believes pay-per-view is still strong. "I don't know if there's a better way," White said. "There are so many disruptors in the world right now. Who would have thought taxi cabs would disappear or cable television would start to go away?" White said that UFC will continue hosting pay-per-view events, including one scheduled for Saturday in Chicago, while embracing streaming platforms for broader reach. "Live sports, you have to watch live. You have to tune in. It is a destination watch," he said. "Sports are a big deal to these streaming services." No fighters have been announced for the White House event, which White said remains nearly a year away. The venue would mark an unprecedented location for a professional mixed martial arts event that regularly fills stadiums and arenas. The Paramount deal places UFC alongside other major sporting events broadcast on CBS, including the Masters Tournament, NCAA Final Four and Super Bowl. Paramount, a Skydance Corporation, is the parent company of CBS News.
