B&M's 'massive' new £12 outdoor candle helps 'repel mosquitoes'
Shoppers looking to banish mosquitoes from their garden might like B&M's 'massive' candle
With more warm weather on the way, plenty of Brits will be enjoying the sunshine in their gardens. Unfortunately, the summer months also see some gardens flooded with mosquitoes, leading to an increase in itchy bites.
Many shoppers invest in citronella products, hoping to help ward off insects. The Spruce explains: "Citronella candles are moderately effective at repelling mosquitoes but only in the immediate area surrounding the candle. The closer you are to the candle, the less you will be the victim of a mosquito bite."
As such, homeowners are advised not to rely solely on the products: "You should think of citronella products, including tiki torches, as just one layer of protection against mosquitoes. Citronella candles do not keep mosquitoes out of your yard and they do nothing to prevent mosquitoes from multiplying."
Nonetheless, they're popular with shoppers who often use the candles alongside other measures, such as bug repellent. One option could be B&M's new "massive" £12 candle. The candle certainly impressed one shopper who showcased the candle on a Facebook page for 'Bargain Lovers'.
The post said: "Massive citronella scented glass candle spotted at B&M." As seen in the post, the Paradiso candle is purple in colour, and it is citronella scented. The product tag says it has 120 hours of burn time, and it is for outdoor use only.
Replying to the post, someone praised: "I need to get one of these." A keen shopper said: "I like this." Another wrote: "This is nice," and the friend they tagged agreed, writing: "That is nice."
While the candle is not currently available on B&M's website, there is another option. For £1, there's a Mini Glass Citronella Candle With Cork Lid, available in white or yellow. The product description says: "This useful Mini Glass Citronella Candle With Cork Lid is a must have for your garden this summer. Keeps away irritating bugs and insects. Part of the Simply Garden trend."
Elsewhere, Home Bargains offers a selection of citronella products, including candles and reed diffusers. For instance, there's a £9.99 The Outdoor Edit Earthed Long Wooden Citronella Candle. The product description says: "Light up your outdoor space with The Outdoor Edit Earthed Long Wooden Citronella Candle! This charming wooden candle not only adds rustic flair but also keeps those pesky mosquitoes at bay, making your evenings more enjoyable."
There's also a £7.99 The Outdoor Edit Citronella Ceramic Candle Jar, £1.99 The Outdoor Living Collection Torch Citronella Candle, £1.49 Citronella Tealights 24 Pack, and £1.99 The Outdoor Living Citronella Reed Diffuser 100ml.
The product description for the diffuser says: "Transform your space with The Outdoor Living Citronella Reed Diffuser! This 100ml beauty not only fills the air with a refreshing citrusy scent but also helps keep pesky insects at bay, making it perfect for any indoor or outdoor setting."
